A man who took a brutal fall down a steep hill in his bid to win a wheel of cheese has said he would not allow anyone he loves enter the competition following his 'near death experience.' 22-year-old Ty Loerzer Fitzjones has gone viral on social media following his hair-raising drop down a 180km slope at Gloucerstershire last week. Ty travelled from London to compete in the cheese rolling event in Gloucestershire, with the aim for competitors to beat the course record for fastest descent after a 7lb wheel of Double Gloucester. Speaking to The Sun following his horror fall, Ty detailed how he had no game plan other than having a chinstrap sewed onto his hat so he wouldn't lose it. 'I just went barreling off down the hill,' he told the publication, 'I started running, thinking, 'This is easy, I'm beating everybody,'! but then I lost my footing and suddenly there was a big drop, and that's when I thought, 'Oh dear, this is not what I planned.'' @dailymailuk Replying to @Sonia Jarman Is he ok? 😅 A new angle has captured up-close the moment a man lost control and went flying down Cooper's Hill in Gloucestershire – in very dramatic fashion. 🎥 Caters #cheeserolling #fall #cheeseroll #gloucestershire #cheese #news ♬ original sound – Daily Mail UK Ty recalls that the next thing he remembered was waking up in a hospital bed three hours later and 'everything was a bit fuzzy.' Following a CAT scan and some tests, doctors were shocked to report that Ty had just suffered a few scratches and bruises. The young man was discharged without pain medication and headed to a pub nearby where attendees at the cheese rolling event were surprised to see him. Speaking to The Sun, he admitted that he can laugh about it now, but noted it wasn't funny for his friends and family. 'It's my first near death experience,' he revealed, 'I definitely would not do cheese rolling again. I wouldn't let anyone I love do it either, it's really dangerous and people are injured every year — it's not safe.'

'It was a glorious day, there was a really nice friendly atmosphere even though we had to wait an hour for The Cheese Master to start the race. 'I didn't have a plan but my girlfriend Lola sewed a chinstrap on my hat so I wouldn't lose it, and held on to my glasses so I wouldn't break them, and I just went barrelling off down the hill. Ty commented: 'I've got a massive bruise on the top of my skull, cuts and scratches all down my arms and back, and I ache all over but I'm very grateful to still be here. 'I can laugh about the whole kerfuffle but it wasn't funny for my friends watching or my parents when they got the frightening phone call saying I was unconscious in the back of an ambulance. 'It's my first near death experience and it doesn't feel real yet. 'I definitely would not do cheese rolling again, I'm not going to push my luck.
