Ricken makes two changes to Cork side for Munster decider with Kerry

Cork have made two changes to the side that defeated Tipperary for Friday evening's Electric Ireland Munster MFC final against Kerry in Austin Stack Park, Tralee, throw-in at 7.35pm. Following a dramatic extra-time away victory over a strong Premier outfit that was secured courtesy of a last-minute Joe Miskella goal, manager Keith Ricken has given starts to Eoin Looney in place of Jerry O'Leary while Daniel McCarthy comes in for Paddy Murphy after the Donoughmore attacker went off injured in the Tipp contest. The provincial decider is a rematch of the quarter-final when Kerry inflicted a 10-point defeat on their neighbours in Páirc Uí Rinn, so the Rebels can expect a tough assignment. At the same time, they will be focused on lessons learned. Kerry have the upper hand when it comes to underage football in Munster, their semi-final was won by a convincing 3-16 to 0-9 triumph over Clare with second-half goals from captain Gearóid White (2) and Kevin Griffin decisive. Manager Wayne Quillinan has made one change to that team with Nick Lacey replacing Tadhg O'Connell in the full-forward line. Both teams will progress to the All-Ireland championship. CORK: R Twohig (Kilmeen); B Coffey (Clonakilty), A Keane (Kinsale), M Kiernan (Carrigaline); E Looney (Lyre), C McCarthy (St Colum's, Capt), B Cronin (Ballincollig); S Kelleher Leavy (Macroom), R Hayes (Carbery Rangers); T Whooley (Clonakilty), D Flynn (Argideen Rangers), N O'Callaghan (Castlehaven); D McCarthy (Castlehaven), B Corkery Delaney (Carrigaline), E Maguire (Castlehaven). Subs: D O'Riordan (Mallow), J Hanrahan (Mitchelstown), J Miskella (Ballincollig), S O'Sullivan (Aghabullogue), S Long (Newcestown), L O'Mahony (Ballincollig), J O'Leary (Ballinascarthy), E Collins (Kiskeam), E G O'Sullivan (Clyda Rovers). KERRY: R Kennedy (Kerins O'Rahillys); R Sheridan (Duagh), E Joy (Ballymacelligott), T Ó Slatara (Churchill); D Murphy (Listry), D Sargent (John Mitchels), M Clifford (Firies); M Ó Sé (An Ghaeltacht), J Curtin (Ballyduff); M O'Carroll (Dr Crokes), G White (John Mitchels, Capt), A Tuohy (Austin Stacks); N Lacey (Kerins O'Rahillys), K Griffin (St Michael's Foilmore), B Kelliher (Dr Crokes). Subs: S Sargent (John Mitchels), T O'Connell (Tarbert), D McCarthy (Listry), P Ó Mainnín (Lispole), J Kissane (Moyvane), L O'Brien (Glenflesk), T O'Sullivan (Glenbeigh/Glencar), C McGibney (Churchill), S Kiely (Dr Crokes).

Kerry welcome Diarmuid O'Connor back into starting team to play Roscommon, but Paudie Clifford not in the squad

Interestingly Paudie Clifford is not amongst the match-day 26. The Fossa man was expected back in the team – or at least the match day panel – having served a suspension that kept him out of the Munster final with Clare in Fitzgerald Stadium. Diarmuid O'Connor hasn't featured in a Kerry squad since injuring his shoulder in the NFL game against Armagh in the middle of March, but the Tralee man has been brought straight into the starting team for Saturday's Group 2 game in the first of the All-Ireland SFC group phase (Sam Maguire Cup). O'Connor's is one of two changes to the Kerry team that started the Munster final a fortnight ago. Shane Ryan returns to the no.1 jersey after the Rathmore man recovered from a leg injury he suffered in the Munster semi-final win over Cork. Shane Murphy drops back to the bench. Barry Dan O'Sullivan retains his place at midfield alongside Diarmuid O'Connor, with Joe O'Connor moving from the centre of the field to right half forward. Tony Brosnan is the player to make way to accommodate the Austin Stacks man in the half forward line. Paul Murphy and Graham O'Sullivan are named among the substitutes for Saturday, with both men having missed out on any involvement in the Munster final. Saturday's visit of Roscommon to Fitzgerald Stadium will be the first time the Connacht county will play a senior championship in the Kingdom. It will be just the 11th Championship meeting between the counties with the record standing at eight wins for Kerry, one for Roscommon, and one draw. Meanwhile, Kerry's round 2 game against Cork has been confirmed Saturday, May 31 at 4.45pm in Supervalu Páirc Uí Chaoimh. The game will be broadcast on GAA+. Kerry's round 3 game will be against Meath on the weekend of June 14/15 at a neutral venue. Kerry team (v Roscommon) 1. Shane Ryan (Rathmore) 2. Dylan Casey (Austin Stacks) 3. Kerry make six changes for Munster football final against Clare

KERRY BOSS JACK O'Connor has made six changes for Sunday's Munster senior football final against Clare. Shane Murphy starts in goal, replacing Shane Ryan, who was injured in last month's semi-final win over Cork at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Paudie Clifford is another notable absentee; suspended following his red card in that game, which finished 3-21 to 1-25 after extra time. Notably, the entire half-forward line is changed. Tony Brosnan, Seán O'Shea and Míchéal Burns start ahead of Clifford, Ruairí Murphy and Graham O'Sullivan. Advertisement Tom O'Sullivan and Mike Breen also return to the starting team, coming in for Paul Murphy and Tadhg Morley in defence. Morley and Ruairí Murphy are the only two of those who drop out of the team, named on the bench.
