How much does a Dubai taxi ride cost?

The rate of taxi fares in Dubai per kilometre has risen once again in the city in comparison to 2024. The Dubai Taxi Company website says that the per kilometre rate is now Dhs2.26 when using a S'hail with RTA and when ordering with Careem. In August 2024, the rate was Dhs2.14, while at the beginning of 2024, the rate was Dhs1.97 per kilometre to get a taxi. Taxi fare rates fluctuate based on a number of different factors including the cost of petrol, which has both risen and fallen so far in 2025. Credit: Hala Petrol prices per litre for April in the UAE now stand at Dhs2.57 for Super 98 petrol, Dhs2.46 for Special 95 petrol, E-plus 91 petrol is Dhs2.51 and diesel is Dhs2.63. Petrol prices fluctuate monthly, which can affect the taxi rate. In February 2025, prices increased slightly, before falling in March and rising again in April. Prices for May 2025 will soon be announced. Base fares for taxis remain at Dhs12 and you can calculate how much you'll pay for a taxi ahead of time if you're working with a budget. The overall fee at the end of your journey will take your base fare and per kilometre into account as well as the time spent in the car. Petrol price rises have led to a hike in Dubai taxi fares. (Credit: Supplied) When ordering with an app, you're given a rough estimate of how much each journey will cost you before you book. Taxi fares haven't increased substantially since July 2022, which had also followed months of fuel price rises across the world. RTA says that any change in taxi fares is dynamic and based on the fluctuating fuel prices in the local market and is calculated based on fuel usage per kilometre in its cars. It says that this is driven (no pun intended) by more and longer trips from the Dubai public, as well as higher tariffs. Revenue for the Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) has also been supported by additional taxis in its fleet, which includes doubling its fleet at Dubai International Airport. Bolt and Dubai Taxi Company offer 30% discount to new riders

The Dubai Taxi Company has introduced a special 30 percent discount for rides in the emirate. If you're a new user with e-hailing service Bolt, then you'll be able to get 30 percent cash back on your first three rides. It is only available for new users on the app, and it includes no surge pricing – so, your discount could go further if you use it during peak hours. The offer comes as the Estonian-born e-hailing app announced a major expansion in Dubai. Bolt has revealed that more than 6,000 cabs, including people of determination taxis and ladies and family taxis, are now available on the platform. The expansion allows residents and visitors more options to book journeys digitally. (Credit: Dubai Taxi Company) Bolt arrived in the emirate back in December and offers a number of features which promise affordable and safe rides. Along with transparent pricing, the app includes a mapping system ensuring accurate routes, in-app safety features like emergency buttons and live tracking, and a driver score system that promotes high service quality. More than 200 million people use Bolt around the world, with it operating in more than 50 countries across five continents. The shared mobility platform connects to existing modes of transport and aims to reduce overall levels of car usage and ownership in big cities by making it easier for people to get around. The Dubai government aims to transition 80 percent of all taxi trips to e-booking in the coming years, and add more options to book rides digitally will help achieve this goal. Ammar Al Braiki, chief operations officer of Dubai Taxi Company, said that DTC and Bolt have plans to become the country's largest e-hailing platform. He said: 'The integration of over 6,000 DTC's vehicles onto the Bolt app represents a major step toward realising our vision of creating the UAE's largest e-hailing platform. 'This milestone underscores our commitment to enhancing and expanding digital transportation services, reflecting both innovation and our shared goal of offering greater convenience and efficiency for users across the emirate.' Dubai Taxi Company has reported a net profit of 83.6 million UAE dirhams ($22.8 million) for the first quarter of 2025, indicating a 23% year-on-year decline, which the DFM-listed company said was a result of the promotional discounts offered as part of the launch campaign of ride-hailing service Bolt. DTC's EBITDA decreased to AED 154.4 million, down 9% year-on-year, while revenue for the quarter increased 5% year-on-year to AED 588.3 million, which DTC said was driven by fleet expansion across segments and the 'strong performance' of its taxi and delivery bike operations. An increase in trip numbers saw revenue for the taxi segment rise 7% year-on-year to AED 515 million, with DTC bringing the total of taxis to 6,200 vehicles by the end of March, 250 of which are fully electric. DTC Posts Strong Q1 Growth as Taxi, Delivery Bike Segments Lead Performance

Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) reported solid first-quarter results for 2025, driven by strong performance in its taxi and delivery bike operations and continued fleet expansion aligned with Dubai's rapid population and tourism growth. Revenue rose 5% year-on-year to AED 588.3 million, with like-for-like growth of 7%, underpinned by a 26% increase in DTC's operational fleet to 9,872 vehicles. The company's taxi segment alone saw a 7% revenue increase to AED 515 million, bolstered by higher trip volumes and the addition of 250 fully electric vehicles, taking the total taxi fleet to over 6,200—86% of which are now hybrid or electric. DTC also recorded exceptional growth in its delivery bike segment, with revenue soaring 110% amid rising demand in the on-demand delivery market. Meanwhile, its limousine business posted a 3% revenue increase, supported by fleet expansion, contributing to a combined 12.8 million trips completed in the quarter. However, EBITDA declined 9% year-on-year to AED 154.4 million, and net profit dropped 23% to AED 83.6 million, primarily due to promotional investments tied to the launch of Bolt's ride-hailing platform under DTC's digital arm, Connectech. Excluding these promotional costs, core EBITDA rose 4%, with a healthy margin of 30%. DTC's new five-year partnership with Dubai Airports, making it the exclusive taxi provider for DXB and DWC, is expected to generate AED 2.5 billion in revenue and over 8 million annual trips by 2029. The integration of Bolt's e-hailing app into airport taxis has already shown promise, with high download rates and rapid service times. Supported by a strong balance sheet and growing market demand, DTC remains optimistic about future growth across all segments, driven by Dubai's ambitious urban and economic expansion.
