Jason Momoa reveals shocking transformation ahead of 'Dune: Part Three'
"Dune: Part Three" is already starting production ahead of its current Dec. 18, 2026, release date, and one of its stars, Jason Momoa, just made a shocking transformation to get ready for filming. Momoa was one of the biggest names in the first "Dune" movie (now titled "Dune: Part One"), but his character, sword-master Duncan Idaho, seemingly died off-screen, and he was therefore absent for the sequel, "Dune: Part Two." But Momoa returns as Idaho for "Dune 3" and to get ready for the part, he has to look the part. And that meant shaving off his iconic facial hair on Instagram for everyone to see. A post shared by Jason Momoa (@prideofgypsies) A photo posted by on HBO Max gives you tons of hit shows and movies, from HBO Originals to A24 movies and more. Based on his Instagram video, he hasn't shaved in "about six years," meaning he's been rocking a beard ever since filming wrapped on the first "Dune" movie. Here's a clip of the last time Momoa went clean-shaven, cutting down the Emperor's Sardaukar soldiers like he's cutting down a 6-year-old beard. Now, while Momoa went public with his new look, he still wasn't entirely thrilled about it. "Only for you, Denis," he said, referring to the movie's director, Denis Villeneuve, as he started to shave. "Goddammit, I hate it!" was his initial response once he was freshly shaved. Still, it's tough to complain too much when you're starring in a major sci-fi franchise and promoting your eco-friendly line of water bottles. It's especially going to be tough for him to be mad about the new look since this time around, Momoa will be filming with his son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, who has joined the "Dune: Part Three" cast as Leto II Atreides, the son of Paul (Timothée Chalamet), and twin brother of Ghanima (Ida Brooke). "I don't want to help him...": Jason Momoa talks about nepotism; opens up about not being involved in casting of his 16-year-old son
The 'Nepotism' eye rolls have been part of the entertainment industry, and Hollywood isn't any different. Jason Momoa , the 'Aquaman' actor, opened up about how he wants his 16-year-old son, who was recently cast in 'Dune 3,' to create his own path in Hollywood, without getting the recommendation calls from him. Jason Momoa talks about his son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa In an interview with Extra, the 45-year-old denied being involved in Nakoa-Wolf Momoa landing the precious role. 'A rude awakening is what he's in for,' he said, before adding, 'He's into the workforce for the first time. It's going to be good. He did it on his own. I don't want to help him, and he's done it all on his own, and good for him.' Jason further added that one would want their children to be better than them, and he believes that Nakoa-Wolf actually is better than him. 'I couldn't do what he's doing at his age. There's no way I could sit in a room with Denis Villeneuve and hold my own,' he said, continuing that he was 19 during 'Baywatch' while Nakoa-Wold is 16 and is working with Denis Villeneuve. What role is Nakoa-Wolf Momoa playing in 'Dune 3'? The 16-year-old is reportedly playing the role of Leto II, against Ghanima played by Ida Brooke, in the franchise's triquel. Leto and Ghanima are the twin offspring of Paul Atreides, played by Timothee Chalamet and Chani, played by Zendaya, as given in the third book. The Momoas have a legacy of playing a role in 'Dune,' as Jason played Duncan Idaho in 2021's 'Dune: Part One' and will be joining the team in the third instalment after sitting out in the second, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Momoa concluded, 'We raised him beautiful. We raised our children… It's just, you know, being loved and being confident in themselves… That is what he is. He's very confident.'

Jason Momoa Reacts To Son's Dune: Part Three Casting
Last month, you may have seen some chatter around the casting of the two young actors playing Leto II and Ghanima, the twin children of Paul Atreides and Chani, in the upcoming Dune: Part Three. As far as we know, Dune: Part Three will follow the events of Frank Herbert's second Dune novel, Dune: Messiah. For context, Paul and Chani are portrayed by Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya in Denis Villeneuve's film adaptations. And at the time of the casting reveal, there was much praise for the fact that the filmmaker did a damn-good job of finding two teens who look like they could actually be Timmy and Zendaya's biological kids — which is funny, given that one of the young stars already has very famous parents. In case you missed it, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa — who will star as Leto II alongside Ida Brooke as Ghanima — is the 16-year-old son of Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet. Of course, Jason also appeared in Dune: Part One as Duncan Idaho back in 2021, and will be reprising the role in Dune: Part Three. However, speaking at the premiere for his new Apple TV+ series, Chief of War, over the weekend, Jason was keen to emphasize that his son landed the part all by himself. 'He did it on his own. I didn't want to help him, and he's done it all on his own,' Jason told Extra TV after being asked about the Dune casting. 'I couldn't do what he's doing at his age. There's no way I could sit in a room with Denis Villeneuve and hold my own. I was on Baywatch at 19. He's 16 and he's holding his shit down with Denis Villeneuve.' Despite praising his son's confidence and work ethic, Jason did joke that Nakoa-Wolf is in for 'a rude awakening' when he sees what really goes into moviemaking. '[He's] into the workforce for the first time. It's gonna be good,' he added. In another red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jason also joked that his son is gonna be 'way better' than him, which is exactly 'what you want for your children.' 'This kid…I [was] like, 'No, no, you can't act. No, no no,' and then he did it all on his own,' the dad of two gushed. 'He'll be a force.' Shooting for Dune: Part Three is reported to be starting very, very soon, so it sounds like these two have got a fun father-son trip in store. LMK your thoughts on the casting below. Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune: Part Three' starts filming
LOS ANGELES: Production has started on the third instalment of filmmaker Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" film franchise. The next part in the acclaimed franchise, headlined by Timothee Chalamet, has been officially titled "Dune: Part Three" and is expected to adapt author Frank Herbert's 1969 book "Dune: Messiah". The earlier two movies in the franchise, "Dune: Part One" (2021) and "Dune: Part Two" (2024), were based on Herbert's seminal 1965 novel "Dune", about Paul Atreides whose family, the noble House Atreides, is thrust into a war for the deadly and inhospitable desert planet Arrakis. "'On a journey into that land where we walk without footprints.' Production has begun on the next film in Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune' trilogy," read a post on the official X handle of "Dune".
