After Seeing The $80 Galactus Popcorn Bucket In Action, All I Can Think Is ‘Holy Heck It's Gigantic!'
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Now, I'm a popcorn connoisseur, but not a popcorn bucket fanatic. However, I can recognize good game, and am very entertained by the ever-creative and wild designs we've seen, as it feels like each major blockbuster on the 2025 movie schedule tries to one-up each other with their popcorn receptacles. Well, now The Fantastic Four: First Steps has entered the competition with a ginormous Galactus bucket that I can't get over after seeing it in action. Literally, all I could think when I saw a video of this $80 (well, $79.99) popcorn bucket was 'Oh my goodness, it's gigantic!' Obviously, I knew it would be large; I mean, when it was announced by Marvel as part of the lead-up to The Fantastic Four: First Steps' release, it was touted as 'the universe's biggest popcorn vessel.' However, it's hard to fathom just how big 17.5 inches tall and 20 inches wide is until you see it on display at a theater, take a look at @3cfilms TikTok about it: Like Marvel's enormous big bad Galactus, this popcorn bucket is HUGE and that's not even an exaggeration. That's because all popcorn buckets are big to begin with. They hold, typically, a Large amount of the theater snack, and as someone who still uses their Eras Tour bucket, I can confirm it can hold over one large bag of microwave popcorn. So, from the jump, I knew this would be big. But not THIS big. Read More About Other New Popcorn Buckets I Didn't Expect The Naked Gun To Get A Popcorn Bucket, But I'm Cracking Up Over The Deep Cut Reference That Allowed It To Happen However, as this video shows, the bucket made for this upcoming Marvel movie is on a new level of large (I think I'd put at least two extras in front of it). It basically dwarfed the NSFW Dune: Part Two popcorn bucket, and that very odd receptacle was no small item. Also, can we take a minute to talk about the horns? Per AMC (the bucket is also available at Cinemark), those two giant purple pieces double the width of the bucket. When they're not attached, the item is 9.6 inches wide, and with them, it's 20 inches. That's crazy. You need both hands to hold on to that thing, and if you are trying to enjoy the film while eating popcorn out of this bucket and it's fully put together, you might end up poking your seat neighbors. Oh, one more thing, it lights up! And that's sick. (If you buy it, please refrain from turning it on during the movie, save it for when you get home.) I must admit, though, I'm a small person, and I fear that if I were to try and grab popcorn out of this vessel, I'd have to reach up and then into it. That's wild, in my humble opinion. However, it's also pretty cool. Now, will I be spending $80 on this item? No, I won't. I do not have the space in my small apartment for that. But I do think it's sick, and a wonderful item for those who want to own a popcorn bucket that could cast a massive shadow over all others. So, if you are looking to enjoy our first outing with this new Fantastic Four with Galactus by your side, you can pick up this bucket when you go to see First Steps in theaters starting on July 25. Regal makes a clever move to compete with AMC
While going to the movies will likely always be an activity people enjoy, tearing people away from Netflix and actually getting them to the theater has been a challenge ever since the pandemic. Before Covid hit the U.S., the movie industry sold well over a million tickets a year. This was when a movie ticket still cost less than $10, which seems like a steal compared to today's prices. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter But something happened during Covid. As people coped with their fears about the pandemic and were forced to stay home, they connected more deeply than ever to streaming content. It was nice to simply enjoy movies in your pajamas - and it cost a lot less than paying for overpriced drinks and popcorn at the concession counter. Related: AMC hopes bold new offers will get customers back into theaters So despite people flooding out into the world again once vaccines became available and stay-home mandates were removed, the movie industry wasn't able to regain its footing in quite the same way. While tickets sold have slowly increased over time, movie theater giants like AMC and Regal have had to come up with new ways to entice people to come back. Now Regal's made its latest move, and it's a clever one. AMC was first to start the saga of the collectible popcorn bucket with its R2D2 combo popcorn and drink vessel, which it debuted in 2019 to accompany "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker." At $49.99, it was a pricey buy, but when they sold out within 48 hours, AMC realized there was customer demand. Then in February 2024, the company debuted a "Dune: Part Two" bucket modeled on the mouth of the sandworms from the film. It went viral, and the true war of the popcorn buckets began. AMC reported that it made a mindblowing $65 million in revenue from the sales of movie-themed merchandise alone, and soon enough, all its competitors were getting in on the craze, trying to outdo one another with even wilder designs. Related: Regal, AMC make a genius move to get people to the theater Now you can find dedicated popcorn bucket pages on Cinemark, AMC, and Regal, as the companies duke it out over who has the best designs. Regal may have won that battle with its latest offering. By now, many of you have likely seen the trailer for the reboot of '80s comedy classic "The Naked Gun," which hits theaters August 1. To accompany the release of the new film, Regal has announced a popcorn bucket in the shape of a beaver, which is truly a joke aimed at the fans of the original film. It riffs on the scene when Lieutenant Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) meets Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley) and watches her climb a ladder, looks up her skirt, and says, "Nice beaver," to which Spencer replies by handing Drebin a taxidermied beaver and saying, "Thanks, I just got it stuffed." Since the new puns from the reboot have been limited to the ones shown in the trailer, opting for one of the old classics is a genius move - and one fans seem to like, if the Instagram comments on the bucket are any indication. "I just started watching the originals and now I need this," user cjseess wrote. Regal did not announce a price or a release date for the beaver bucket, but it's likely to be released alongside the movie. Tom Holland and Margot Robbie tipped to be next Hollywood legends by UK fans
To celebrate 10 years of Meerkat movies the UK has received it's own 'Hollywood landmark' and it's been signed off by the real deal Tom Holland, Margot Robbie and Zendaya are tipped to be the next big Hollywood legends, according to a survey of Brits. English actress Florence Pugh, known for her roles in Dune: Part Two and Oppenheimer, and Willy Wonka's Timothée Chalamet also made it into the top five. The study was commissioned by Compare the Market, which found that the majority of Brits believe the UK should have its own iconic film landmark. To kickstart the idea and celebrate 10 years of movies, the price comparison app has erected a massive replica of Los Angeles' famous 'Hollywood' sign – in Hollywood, Worcestershire. A spokesperson said: "For 10 years, we've been helping the nation beat the midweek slump and make saving simples with 2-for-1 cinema tickets on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. And what better way to celebrate than by bringing a little slice of Hollywood to the UK's own Hollywood? "The public's response, and even the message from Hollywood itself, shows how much people still love the magic of the movies." Cinema nostalgia is increasing, especially among younger audiences, with 51 percent of 25-34 year olds saying recent cult movie sequels have boosted their sense of nostalgia for the cinema. Around two thirds of the same age group go to the cinema more now than they used to. The research revealed that 48 percent of Brits go through their weeks on 'autopilot' - with 55 percent desperate for midweek entertainment, not just weekends. Four in 10 rarely go out and do anything on worknights. Similarly, many are now 'actively looking' for ways to break up their midweek routine. Steve Nissen, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, commented: "It's not every day you see the Hollywood sign pop up halfway across the world - let alone in another place called Hollywood. "We're thrilled to see our iconic sign reimagined in Worcestershire and proud to share a little piece of Hollywood with our friends in the UK."
