Daughter-in-law, paramour held for theft from retired teacher's house

Jabalpur: A retired teacher's elder daughter-in-law and her male friend have been arrested for allegedly stealing jewellery worth Rs 16 lakh and Rs 1 lakh in cash from his house in Dindori district's Saket Nagar, police said on Sunday. After investigation, police recovered the stolen jewellery and cash from both of them and arrested them. They were presented in court and subsequently sent to jail as per the court's order. According to information received from Dindori SP Vahini Singh, retired teacher Ram Gopal Tiwari reported the theft of one lakh in cash and jewellery worth 16 lakh rupees from his home on the night of April 5 and April 6. He mentioned that they went to their ancestral village Kukarramath for Durga Ashtami prayers. The elder daughter-in-law, Priya Tiwari, arrived in the village on April 5, and the theft occurred that night. During the investigation, police suspected Priya. This led to communication between them and eventually developed into a close relationship. She informed him about the absence of family members at home and the location of the cash and jewellery.
