Mariners rumors: Seattle open to trading versatile Gold Glove winner

The post Mariners rumors: Seattle open to trading versatile Gold Glove winner appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Seattle Mariners are one of baseball's best surprises this season, especially with the play of star catcher Cal Raleigh. As the MLB trade deadline approaches, Seattle is rumored to be looking at shopping a few players. One of those players is Gold Glove winner Dylan Moore, per The Athletic. There's a catch though in regards to Moore. 'Moore, the American League Utility Gold Glove Award winner last season, offers the kind of defensive versatility teams covet. There's just one problem: Moore, who turns 33 on Aug. 2, is in a 2-for-54 slump since May 27, with 29 strikeouts and four walks,' Ken Rosenthal wrote. The Mariners are in a tough fight to win the American League West this season. Seattle is second in the division, five games behind the Houston Astros as of Saturday. The club holds a 55-49 record this year. Seattle has won six of the last 10 contests. The MLB trade deadline is July 31. Dylan Moore is having a rough go of it for the Mariners Moore has definitely struggled offensively in recent weeks. He has just a .201 batting average as of Saturday. On the season, the utility player has nine home runs and 19 RBIs. He hasn't mustered a hit in his last several outings. While Moore has never been known as a power hitter, he can be effective with his bat. Last season, the Mariners slugger posted 42 runs batted in with 10 home runs. It was his second best season of his career in terms of homers. Moore's production last season turned heads on a lot of other clubs. That could be a reason why his trade stock has been on a bit of a decline. 'The Seattle Mariners have made infielder/outfielder Dylan Moore available, according to sources briefed on the team's discussions. Rival clubs, though, probably aren't as excited by that news as they might have been a year ago,' Rosenthal added. The versatile Moore though is known all around baseball for his defense. He won a Gold Glove award in the 2024 season. Moore has played all over the diamond, with starts in both the outfield as well as the infield. Moore has played his entire MLB career in Seattle. The Mariners play the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night. Hawthorn stalwarts star in slogging win over Port

Hawthorn veterans Jack Gunston and Jarman Impey have booted three goals each in a slogging 38-point win over Port Adelaide that revives the Hawks' top-four hopes. The stalwarts and teammate Dylan Moore were superb in Hawthorn's 13.9 (87) to 7.7 (49) victory in atrocious conditions on Saturday at Launceston's UTAS Stadium. Moore was best-afield with 32 disposals, two goals and nine tackles as the Hawks climbed from seventh to fourth ahead of other results. But the 11th-placed Power slipped from finals contention - they'll likely be four wins outside the top eight with five games remaining. Port joined a succession of clubs unable to control Hawthorn's 33-year-old stalwart Gunston, who has now kicked 42 goals this season. And ex-Port utility Impey put the finishing touches with three goals in a 10-minute burst in the final term. Port kicked with a gale in the opening quarter, but the Hawks were superb - after a feisty start, scores were locked at 3.2 apiece at the first break. Hawthorn's Calsher Dear booted the first goal after Port's Ollie Lord was penalised for a behind-play bump on Hawk captain James Sicily. The Power responded with a Mitch Georgiades goal 18 seconds later and, while Port celebrated, Sicily slung Jack Lukosius to the ground, resulting in a free kick. Lukosius converted, but the Hawks then generally held sway into the stiff wind, with Dear's late second major levelling scores. Hawthorn then cashed in with three goals to one in a rain-soaked second stanza, with Gunston booting two, including a stunning 30m set shot from a boundary line. He's only gone and done it again 🤩#AFLHawksPort — AFL (@AFL) July 19, 2025 That strike gave the Hawks a handy 13-point halftime buffer, 6.4 to 4.3, but the lead rapidly disappeared in the third quarter. Port's Jordon Sweet and Lord goaled with set shots to tie scores, and a tense seven-minute stalemate followed. But the Hawks, against the tide, then made a decisive break, with goals from the influential Moore and Gunston creating a 12-point advantage at three-quarter time, 8.6 to 6.6. Hawthorn then swept to victory with five goals to one in the final quarter. Hawk on-ballers James Worpel (26 disposals) and Josh Ward (26), Impey (26) and Blake Hardwick (27) revelled on the heavy track. Port's Lukosius and Georgiades scored two goals each, while winger Jase Burgoyne (26 touches) and half-back Kane Farrell (25) were busy.

Cal Raleigh hits two more homers as Mariners blank Pirates

July 4 - Cal Raleigh hit two home runs, his major league-leading 34th and 35th of the season, as the Seattle Mariners defeated the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates 6-0 Friday afternoon in the opener of a three-game interleague series. Randy Arozarena and Dylan Moore also went deep and Bryan Woo (8-4) pitched six scoreless innings for Seattle, which snapped the Pirates' six-game winning streak. Raleigh surpassed his career high for homers, set last year when he hit 34, and tied the franchise record for most before the All-Star break, established by Ken Griffey Jr. in 1998. After Julio Rodriguez reached base on an error, Raleigh hit a two-run shot in the first inning that landed three rows from the top of the second deck in left field. The ball traveled 433 feet at 115.2 mph, the hardest hit of Raleigh's career. Arozarena went the opposite way on a solo shot with one out in the fourth, the ball sneaking just inside the right field foul pole. It was his fifth homer over the past five games. Raleigh increased the lead to 4-0 in the sixth on a two-out fly ball that just cleared the fence in left-center field. Moore, mired in a 1-for-38 slump, lined a two-run shot into the Pirates' bullpen in left field with one out in the seventh off Braxton Ashcraft to make it 6-0. Woo allowed three hits -- all by Nick Gonzales -- walked two and struck out eight. Woo has gone at least six innings in all 17 of his starts this season, the only pitcher in the majors to have done so. Pirates starter Bailey Falter (6-4) allowed just three hits over 5 2/3 innings, but all of them cleared the outfield fence. Falter gave up four runs (three earned), didn't walk a batter and fanned four. The Pirates' pitching staff, which shut out St. Louis in each of the previous three games, had a 31-inning scoreless streak snapped. --Field Level Media

(AP Photo/Erin Hooley) CHICAGO (AP) — Cal Raleigh broke Johnny Bench's record for home runs by a catcher before the All-Star break, hitting his major league-leading 28th and 29th in the Seattle Mariners' 9-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday. Raleigh broke a tie in the seventh with No. 29 to move ahead of Hall of Famer Bench's 1970 mark. Raleigh needed only 73 games to break the record that Bench set in 87 games. The Seattle star shattered the mark with 22 games to spare before the All-Star game. Advertisement Raleigh had three hits in his sixth multi-homer game of the season. The 28-year-old slugger drove in three runs to push his season total to 63. Mitch Garver also homered twice and drove in five runs, putting it away with a three-run shot in the ninth. Randy Arozarena and Donovan Solano each had three hits to help Seattle win for the fifth time in seven games. The teams combined for six homers with the wind blowing out on a warm day when former Cubs slugger Sammy Sosa returned to Wrigley Field for the first time in over 20 years. Ian Happ homered in Chicago's three-run first inning, and Reese McGuire added a solo shot. Michael Busch had three hits and two RBIs as NL Central-leading Cubs dropped their second straight. Advertisement Raleigh hit his go-ahead drive to the back of the left-field bleachers off Caleb Thielbar (2-2). Raleigh sent his first homer just over the basket in the first off Matthew Boyd. Eduard Bazardo (2-0) pitched a scoreless sixth for the win. Key moment Boyd made a dramatic catch of J.P. Crawford's comebacker for the final out in the top of the fifth. Boyd snared the liner at the last instant as it was headed for his face. Key stat Chicago's Pete Crow-Armstrong popped out softly three times and struck out a day after going deep and becoming the first player with 20 homers and 20 steals this season. Up next Seattle RHP Emerson Hancock (3-2, 4.48 ERA) was set to face RHP Cade Horton (3-1. 3.47) on Saturday. ___ AP MLB:
