EA Sports immortalizes Diogo Jota after removing Liverpool hero from EAFC 25 game

Tributes to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva continue to pour in. The Liverpool man was also an avid player of EAFC (formerly FIFA), and makers EA Sports have become the latest to pay their respects following the brothers' shock passing. If there is one remotely positive thing to come out of the tragedy, it is a reminder of the impact that Diogo and Andre had on so many, as has been made apparent by the mass outpouring of grief from all over the world. Part of the massive legacy that Jota leaves behind is his own eSports team, Luna Galaxy. He personally was just as talented on the virtual pitch as the real one, winning a Premier League FIFA tournament back in 2020; he beat Trent Alexander-Arnold in the final. He was also at one point the top-ranked player in FUT Champions, a competitive game mode within Ultimate Team. READ MORE: Lionel Messi gave Hugo Ekitike three-word nickname ahead of Liverpool transfer READ MORE: Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Hugo Ekitike deal, Alexander Isak admission, Rodrygo talks EA Sports has now marked that part of Jota's life with a touching in-game tribute. Having initially removed his Ultimate Team card from the EAFC 25 game, as is standard practice when an active player passes away, the makers of the game have since put together a poignant gesture. Every player of FC25 Ultimate Team has been sent a special tifo pack. It contains his No. 18 jersey from his time at Wolves, his No. 19 jersey from Porto, and his No. 20 jersey from Liverpool. Liverpool, meanwhile, has taken the decision to retire the No. 20 jersey. Jota is now listed under his own "forever" section on the club's squad list. Players can choose to display the tifos in-game as a virtual tribute to Jota. "To honor and celebrate the life of one of our most passionate FC players, three new Diogo Jota Tifos have been added to your UT Club," EA Sports wrote to its players. The message was headlined "one of us". It isn't the first eSports-related tribute Jota has received. Among the moving scenes of tributes laid outside Anfield, various gaming controllers were left. Like Liverpool, both Porto and Wolves have also marked Jota's passing in their own ways. Molineux was also flooded with tributes, with the flowers now set to be turned into colored ink to form part of a more permanent memento. Meanwhile, Wolves also enrolled Jota into the club's Hall of Fame. Made up of historic players and teams from the club's past, he is one of fewer than 40 members, and the first addition in more than two years. Porto will honor Jota at an upcoming friendly with Atletico Madrid. The forward actually represented both clubs, although he never played competitively for the Spanish side. Around the world, players have also been paying personal tributes by emulating Jota's "gaming" celebration. They sit down and mime holding a controller, as Jota would do on occasion. Darwin Nunez and Ousmane Dembele have both paid their respect in this fashion, as have others. Like the EA Sports tribute, it's a fitting touch to honor someone who was genuinely elite in two separate fields.

5 things you missed from the EA FC 26 reveal trailer including new Evolutions hint and new Icons

There was a lot to digest from the EA FC 26 reveal trailer, so we've rounded up some cool things you might not have noticed. EA Sports has given players a first look at EA FC 26 with the EA FC 26 reveal trailer, but there are some interesting details you may have missed. ‌ The hype surrounding EA FC 26 is now starting to build, with EA Sports starting to reveal the first bits of information about the new game. After unveiling Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the EA FC 26 Ultimate Edition cover star and confirming the EA FC 26 Ultimate Edition pre-order bonuses, EA has now given players a taste of how EA FC 26 looks, with lots of gameplay being delivered as part of the EA FC 26 reveal trailer. ‌ Here are five things you might have missed in the EA FC 26 reveal trailer. ‌ EA FC 26 trailer breakdown – things you may have missed The EA FC 26 reveal trailer told us a lot more about the new game than ever before, but we've dissected the trailer to try and find anything that you may have missed. New EA FC 26 Icons Yes, we all know that Ibrahimovic is coming to EA FC 26 as a new FUT Icon, but did you spot the others in the EA FC 26 trailer? Towards the end of the trailer, former United States striker Alex Morgan is seen, confirming her inclusion in EA FC 26 as a FUT Icon. ‌ But, as well as Ibrahimovic and Morgan, we may have seen another Icon teased. One minute and 35 seconds into the trailer, a goalkeeper makes a save, while the text 'New Icons' appears on screen. Based on EA FC 26 Icon leaks, we think that this goalkeeper could be former Bayern Munich and German player, Oliver Kahn. Skill Moves and Weak Foot indicator Quite a useful addition which wasn't highlighted in the trailer, but it seems we will now be able to see the skill moves and weak foot of each player during games in EA FC 26, both for our own players and our opponents. Only a small addition, but it appeared in all of the gameplay footage, and this can be extremely useful down the line when you are using new players and wanting to know what their skill moves and weak foot are during a game. ‌ New Camera Angle A large chunk of the EA FC 26 reveal trailer was shown from a new camera angle, and although it may not have looked like a new camera angle, it is. It seems EA is adding a new third-person camera angle in EA FC 26, which looks much better than the Pro camera angle currently available in EA FC 25. The camera angle seems to be slightly higher and further out than the Pro camera angle in EA FC 25, giving you a much bigger view of the pitch. The camera also seemed to move quite a bit in the trailer, and I think it looks great. ‌ Goalkeepers in Rush and goalkeeper Evolutions hint After a lot of demand from the community, EA has listened, with goalkeeper set to be a playable position in EA FC 26. This means that games can increase to five players on each team at a time, but maybe more importantly, it hints towards a big update fans have been crying out for in EA FC 25 – goalkeeper Evolutions. The one position which you can't evolve in Ultimate Team, being able to use goalkeepers in Rush means that we should now be able to complete Objectives with goalkeepers to earn upgrades. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but it sure is a big hint. Confetti celebration Lastly, it looks like last-minute celebrations are set to get a whole lot crazier in EA FC 26, with EA seemingly adding confetti into the mix. This could just be a visual addition for the trailer, but I think this will be coming in EA FC 26, so expect to see confetti cannons blasted if you find the top corner in the last minute to win the game. There will probably be confetti left on the pitch when you kick off again though, so make sure you save yourself from embarrassment and don't concede a last-second equaliser.

Jude Bellingham, Jamal Musiala Unveiled As EA FC 26 Cover Stars: Check Out All Details

Last Updated: Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala are the cover stars for EA FC 26's standard edition, while Zlatan Ibrahimović graces the Ultimate Edition. Jude Bellingham has officially been revealed as one of the cover stars for EA FC 26, appearing alongside Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala on the front of the game's standard edition. The Real Madrid midfielder returns to the cover following his appearance on EA FC 25, while Musiala makes his debut. After months of speculation, EA Sports has begun lifting the lid on what fans can expect from EA FC 26, the latest installment in the evolving EA Sports FC franchise. Earlier this week, the company updated its social media branding to reflect the new game's logo, signaling the beginning of a new promotional cycle. The momentum kicked off with the announcement of Zlatan Ibrahimović as the Ultimate Edition cover star. Now, the standard edition stars have also been confirmed, validating leaks that pointed to Bellingham's continued presence and Musiala's first-time inclusion. While an official release date has yet to be confirmed, EA FC 26 is widely expected to launch on September 26, 2025, based on the franchise's consistent annual release pattern. The official reveal trailer is scheduled to debut on July 17, which is likely to include a confirmed release date. As in previous years, players will be able to choose between two editions of the game: the Standard Edition and the Ultimate Edition. The Ultimate Edition offers a week of early access, along with exclusive in-game bonuses. Predicted New Icons for EA FC 26 Each new installment in the EA Sports FC series introduces a fresh set of Icons—legendary players who are immortalized with unique cards in Ultimate Team. According to leaks, EA FC 26 will feature 12 new Icons, expanding the roster with several fan-requested legends from both the men's and women's game. The rumored new Icons include: view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
