Cerundolo siblings chasing clay titles
GSTAAD, (Switzerland): Argentina's Juan Manuel Cerundolo swept the final six games to complete a 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 upset of top-seeded Casper Ruud of Norway on Friday at the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad in Switzerland. Cerundolo's comeback against the World No. 13 Ruud marked the biggest win of his career by ranking and sent him into the semifinals against Peru's Ignacio Buse, a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 winner over Argentina's Roman Andres Burruchaga. The other semifinal at the ATP 250 clay-court event pits second-seeded Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan against France's Arthur Cazaux. Bublik defeated No. 7 seed Francisco Comesana of Argentina 6-4, 6-3 in 72 minutes, while Cazaux outlasted home hopeful Jerome Kym 7-6 (3), 3-6, 7-5. Nordea Open Top-seeded Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina advanced to the semifinals with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 defeat of No. 7 seed Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia in Bastad, Sweden. Cerundolo, whose brother Juan Manuel, is in the semifinals in Gstaad, Switzerland, converted six of his eight break chances and will face No. 6 seed Luciano Darderi. The Italian dispatched fourth-seeded Sebastian Baez of Argentina 6-0, 6-2 in 66 minutes. The ATP 250 clay-court tournament's other semifinal matches No. 5 seed Camilo Ugo Carabelli of Argentina against unseeded Jesper De Jong. Ugo Carabelli knocked out Austria's Filip Misolic 6-3, 7-5 and De Jong rallied to defeat his fellow Dutchman and No. 2 seed Tallon Griekspoor 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3.

July 18 - Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic rallied from down 5-2 in the second set and saved triple match point to force a tiebreaker on his way to upsetting Portuguese third seed Nuno Borges at the Nordea Open on Thursday in Bastad, Sweden. Misolic surprised Borges 3-6, 7-6 (1), 6-3, flipping the momentum in his favor during the middle set and finishing with a 35-22 advantage in winners. He advanced the quarterfinals to face Argentine fifth seed Camilo Ugo Carabelli, who outlasted Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands 7-6 (3), 5-7, 6-3 in a two-hour, 50-minute marathon. No. 1 seed Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina beat countryman Mariano Navone 6-3, 6-3. Mifel Tennis Open Top seed Andre Rublev of Russia rallied from a set down to knock off unseeded American Emilio Nava 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in the quarterfinals in Los Cabos, Mexico. No. 3 seed Denis Shapovalov of Canada swept Australia's Tristan Schoolkate 6-3, 6-2. In the semifinals Friday, Shapovalov will play No. 8 seed Adam Walton, who defeated fellow Australian James Duckworth 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday. ATP roundup: Kamil Majchrzak keeps momentum going with win at Gstaad
July 15 - Coming off his best result at a major with a run to the fourth round at Wimbledon, Kamil Majchrzak continued his recent success by defeating Frenchman Terence Atmane 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 in the first round of the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad in Switzerland on Monday. The 29-year-old from Poland won 70 percent of his service points in the one hour, 49-minute match at the ATP 250 clay-court event. Peruvian qualifier Ignacio Buse ousted fifth seed Laslo Djere of Serbia 7-6(4), 1-6, 6-4. Argentine Roman Andres Burruchaga won 74 percent of his first-serve points to beat Czech competitor Dalibor Svrcina 6-3, 6-1, setting up a matchup with No. 3 seed Pedro Martinez. Frenchman Arthur Cazaux needed nearly three hours to defeat Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia, who couldn't overcome nine double faults in a 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (5) victory by Cazaux, and hometown favorite Dominic Stricker outlasted France's Pierre-Hugues Herbert, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Nordea Open Sixth-seeded Luciano Darderi faced a roller coaster of a match but ultimately prevailed over Raphael Collignon of Belgium in first-round action at the Nordea Open in Bastad, Sweden on Monday. In a two hour, 10-minute match, the two swapped 6-2 wins in three sets, with Darderi saving six of eight break points overall, including two critical break points from 2-2, 15/40 in the decider. The 23-year-old Italian is in search of his third ATP Tour title, with his most recent title coming in April in Marrakech. The only other main-draw singles match on Monday saw Dutchman Jesper de Jong knock down eight aces on his way to easily taking care of wild card William Rejchtman Vinciguerra, the son of former pro Andreas Vinciguerra, by a score of 6-3, 6-2. Mifel Tennis Open Seventh-seeded Aleksander Kovacevic edged Lebanon's Hady Habib, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in the first match of the main draw at the Mifel Tennis Open in Los Cabos, Mexico. Habib broke in the third game of the deciding set, but Kovacevic answered back to knot the set at 2-2. The New York native held serve and outlasted Habib in a 13-point sixth game to take a 4-2 lead en route to the 6-3 triumph in the one hour, 48-minute match. On the same side of the draw, Emilio Nava defeated Australia's Aleksander Vukic, 7-6 (4), 6-3. Nava ran off the final four points to prevail in the first set tie-breaker, then raced out to a 4-0 lead in the second set. ATP roundup: David Goffin returns from injury and triumphs in Gstaad
July 16 - One tennis veteran prevailed, while another succumbed as first-round play continued at the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad in Switzerland on Tuesday. No. 6 Belgian David Goffin, 34, returned to action after suffering a foot injury two months ago and outlasted 19-year-old Martin Landaluce of Spain, 7-6 (2), 6-3, in windy conditions on the clay. However, three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka, the Swiss native who turned 40 in March, fell to Kazakhstan's Alexander Shevchenko, 6-3, 6-2. In a matchup of Argentinians, No. 7 Francisco Comesana took out qualifier Marco Trungelliti, 6-3, 6-4. But another seeded player, No. 8 Arthur Rinderknech of France, fell to Italian qualifier Francesco Passaro, 6-1, 7-5. Rinderknech defeated Alexander Zverev two weeks ago at Wimbledon. Trailing 4-1 in the second set, Dzumhur broke Ofner twice, rattling off the final five games of the match.
