'Hacks' Season 5 Is Officially Happening — Here's What to Know

Hacks fans have more than just a finale to look forward to. The hit Emmy-winning series starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder will officially return for a fifth season. Here is everything we know so far. FIND OUT MORE ON ELLE COLLECTIVE Yes! On May 27, Hacks was officially renewed for a fifth season. Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder celebrated the renewal in a video posted to the 'streamonmax' Instagram account. 'I'm so excited,' said Smart. 'Hacks just got officially picked up for season 5. I'm thrilled! Congratulations to my cast and everybody in the production. And to all of our Hacks fans out there, please join us again for season 5. Yay!' Einbinder echoed those sentiments. 'It's official,' she said. 'We're coming back for season 5, baby! And don't worry, I will continue to pitch the lesbian arc.' For those who closely follow the show, the announcement of a fifth season should come as no surprise. Last year, show creators Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky sat with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss their 'ideal' five-season plan for the series. Statsky said that Smart was likely to be on board, saying, 'She's somebody who's like, "Let's not dilute what it is. Let's make sure it stays high-quality."' Downs agreed. 'When we first met with her, we talked about this plan without being too specific,' he said. 'She and Hannah both read the scripts as they are written. They don't want us to say, "OK, here's what's happening this season."' It's safe to say that Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder will return as Deborah and Ava, respectively. Paul W. Downs and Megan Stalter are also likely to reprise their roles. This story will be updated. ELLE Collective is a new community of fashion, beauty and culture lovers. Carrie Bradshaw In 'And Just Like That' Is Right — Modern Dating Really Is Ruinous

Carrie Bradshaw, the doyenne of dating, has spoken: modern dating is absolutely, painstakingly, heartwrenchingly ruinous. If the latest series of the Sex and the City spin-off, And Just Like That..., is anything to go by, dating will never be the same again. When Sex and the City exploded onto the small screen in 1998 positing a new, liberated way of living for modern women who wanted to break free of the machinery of domesticity their mothers had been trapped in, it was an instant success. The show's winning formula was foolproof for modern women who had bucked the trend of marrying young and procreating as soon as was humanly possible; here was a generation of women truly living. A generation of women who were trying their hand at living like single men have for generations, with wreckless abandon, with frivolity and fun as the beating heart of their lives. FIND OUT MORE ON ELLE COLLECTIVE In so many ways, the Sex and the City spin-off has maintained its winning DNA. And Just Like That... focuses on our favourite Manhattanittes in their fifties after death, divorce and heartbreak. They're proof that life goes on, and only gets more fabulous in so many ways. Yet, another facet of And Just Like That... has its finger firmly on the pulse of is the reality of modern dating. Sex and the City fans can attest to the fact that so much of the magic of the show lay in the fact that Carrie et al met partners out in the wild; the real, wild old world that so many of us have lost a connection to. In the first episode of the currently-airing third season, we find our titular character trapped in the straightjacket of a long-distance relationship with Aidan (John Corbett). The core tenet of long-distance love is digital communication, which once upon a time would have been unfathomable for Carrie and co. Carrie, the once intensely romantic and frothy romantic, would have balked at the possibility of being trapped mining emoji replies for real meaning. She'd have scoffed at the mere thought of dictating digital messages to her phone to send to Aidan. This was a couple that threw themselves fecklessly into the throes of young and unadulterated love, who would have thought that fate would have twisted their arm to abandon their in-person adoration for virtual ellipses and 'read' signs. It's nothing that And Just Like That... could help. The saddest reality (sadder than Carrie faking an orgasm while having phone sex with Aidan) is that this is the real world for single people today, who dedicate hours of their lives to scrolling, messaging and hoping desperately that at some point the virtual will graduate into the tangible. I hoped that Carrie wouldn't fall victim to the pitfalls of modern dating but then again, this is the world that we — Carrie included — are living in. 'I Can't Watch Certain Scenes' Elisabeth Moss Says Being A Parent Changed Her View Of 'The Handmaid's Tale'

For the past eight years, Elisabeth Moss has fronted The Handmaid's Tale as the titular handmaid, June Osbourne (Offred). 66 episodes later, the longstanding dystopian drama came to an end when the season six finale debuted on May 27, for US audiences (UK viewers will have to wait a while longer to reach the final episode). FIND OUT MORE AT ELLE COLLECTIVE Now Moss is finally parting ways with a character that she has spent the majority of her thirties playing - the Californian actor recently shared the valuable life lessons that she has learned from playing such a strong willed character. In an interview with Variety, Moss discussed how becoming a mother to her first child in 2024 altered her approach to taking on the role of June. 'I cannot believe the difference this final season [now being a mother], and I had no idea that was going to happen. I can't watch certain scenes. When a person used to come up to me and say, "I just had a baby, and I can't watch the show," I had a little judgment, like, "Oh, God, get over it." Now, I totally get it. There are concepts I can't think about; there are articles I can't read in the news.' Further into the interview, the actor discussed how it wasn't only being a parent that shaped her changing view of the show, but also that her move to being an executive producer and director has changed things Ultimately, Moss said, one of the biggest changes she has seen is her newfound appreciation for portraying characters on screen. 'I have more respect for acting than I did before,' she explained. 'When I first started directing, I was very much like, I'm going to be a visual person. The first thing I learned on my first episode is that the performance is the only thing that matters. I love acting so much, but I don't overthink it; frankly, I don't put a lot of thinking into it at all. It's very important to me, but it's not serious. So, realising that nothing mattered except the performance was a revelation for me.' While Moss may have made her exit as June in The Handmaid's Tale in what was a fairly bittersweet ending, all roads lead to her character's potential revival in the upcoming sequel, The Testaments, where viewers may see June continue to fight against the Gileadean regime. Nicole Kidman is back with a new wig. That's because the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers is now streaming on Prime Video. The story now follows Kidman's Masha, a quirky health guru, and a completely new cast of wellness-seeking characters (which includes Henry Golding, Annie Murphy, Christine Baranski, Murray Bartlett, and King Princess). 'Nine Perfect Strangers' – Here's A Recap Of What Happened In Season One

With a new prestige series hitting screens daily, it can be hard to keep track of what happened in the latest episode of your favourite, never mind a previous series. So as Nine Perfect Strangers season two premieres, we thought we'd offer a helping hand with a recap of what happened in season one of the Nicole Kidman-fronted show. The first series of Nine Perfect Strangers aired in August 2021, so we're almost four years down the line in the real world, so you'd be forgiven for forgetting what happened in the show. The plot of the show closely followed that of Liane Moriarty's source material, which was published in 2018. Remember lots of things that seemed wildly illegal and can't quite remember how Kidman's character Masha didn't end up in jail? We've got you. As the title suggests, nine (mostly) strangers arrive at Tranquillum House, a health and wellness resort run by Masha. All searching for answers, they embark on group therapy that takes a sinister twist. Masha uses hallucinogenics on the group without telling them at first, leading to chaos. Throughout the series it's revealed that Masha lived a very different life as a high-powered executive before her time running the retreat (she was shot and almost died in her previous life.) Towards the end of the series, we discover that Masha was shot by Carmel, because she was having an affair with her husband. After a tense confrontation, Masha forgives Carmel, rather than seeking retribution or justice. We also learn that Masha had a daughter, Tatiana, who died. Once the group know they've been drugged, Masha encourages the Marconi family to use the hallucinogenics again as a family to try and see their lost son and brother. During the experience, Masha also takes the drugs, and is led away by Zoe, eventually 'finding' Tatiana, and sitting with her 'in the snow' for hours. During this drama-filled final episode, the 'strangers' are locked inside a room by Masha and her staff, with a fire set outside. Believing they are having a near-death experience, all the guests experience moments of clarity and healing, before escaping. Though the police have been called by Delilah (Tiffany Boone), a disgruntled member of staff, the patients/strangers all cover for Masha leading to her being free to leave (and star in season two). A series of flash-forwards reveal the various people doing well — Ben and Jessica (who were struggling with meaning thanks to their riches) have taken over the retreat. Lars (who had attended the retreat to write an exposé piece about Masha) has realised his dream of becoming a father — and written a very favourable piece about his experience. Tony and Carmel are a couple, and her writer's block is remedied, leading her to write a book based on the experience at the retreat. We see Masha, driving the Chandler's Lamborghini, happy and with Tatiana at her side. ELLE Collective is a new community of fashion, beauty and culture lovers.
