Ciara making her presence felt as Russell Wilson opens Giants training camp
The Wilsons looked good rocking blue while at the first day of Giants training camp on Wednesday. The Giants posted photos of their new quarterback, Russell Wilson, with his wife Ciara and their daughters Sienna, 8, and Amora, 1, and son Win, 5 — and Future Jr, 11, the singer's son from her previous relationship with rapper, Future. Ciara and her kids sported Wilson's No. 3 Giants jersey in blue, while the Super Bowl champ rocked red. Another video, which was shared by the Giants, showed Future Jr. and Win running to Wilson on the practice field and hugging him. Wilson can be heard commemorating Win's fifth birthday, which was also on Wednesday. During his media availability on Wednesday, Wilson spoke highly of the Giants culture and fanbase, adding that being in New York is also great for Ciara's singing career. 'I've been in New York a bunch in the past, I have a lot of family that have been here and lived here and stuff like that, but we love it here. It's just a great city. New York is amazing, Jersey as well,' said Wilson, who signed a one-year deal with the Giants in March after one season with the Steelers. 'I think what I love is the fans, the sports culture. Obviously for Ciara, the music culture is great too, and I think that's great. But I think just for me, I've always been a fast-paced guy. I don't know if everybody knows me really well. I'm constantly just highly focused. I was always taking 18 credits in college, playing football, baseball. I just like being occupied. 5 Giants quarterback Russell Wilson with wife Ciara and their kids during the first day of training camp on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. I get to do what I love to do and these guys love doing it together and we're spending a lot of time together. 'So, these moments, like this training camp, is the part where you love those bonding [moments] at the hotel, the bonding early in the mornings, the late at night, the extra film, that time that you spend together talking ball. I mean that's the part that you forever remember.' 5 Russell Wilson and his wife, Ciara, arrive at the ESPY Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Shane Gillis proved there are ‘no rules' at ESPN anymore: Bomani Jones
Former ESPNer Bomani Jones said Shane Gillis' opening monologue at the 2025 ESPYs is proof that the Worldwide Leader has tossed the rulebook out the window. During Monday's installment of his podcast, 'The Right Time,' Jones, who was a writer and on-air personality at ESPN from 2004-2023, explained that the network doesn't care to talk about 'stuff that matters' because they 'can't control what Pat McAfee does' on his daily program. 'Shane Gillis did not hit all of [his jokes] out of the park, but he hit a couple of them to the moon,' Jones said as he recalled some of the comedian's lewd jokes about Jeffrey Epstein, President Donald Trump and Caitlin Clark. YouTube/The Right Time Gillis was the host of this year's ESPY Awards, which took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles last week in front of a star-studded audience. 'I was like, 'I can't believe this is happening. There are officially no more rules at that place,'' Jones said. 'I worked with, for [and] in various capacities at ESPN for about 20 years. I've known what you can and can't get away with, I've been there for the ebbs and flows of the things that you can do, whether it be [on] digital or whatever it is. I've seen all the changes. Advertisement 'This is wild. There are officially no rules, as long as you're talking about stuff that doesn't really matter. Because, talking about stuff that matters — there is less of that. They've concluded that people don't want that, OK. And then they can't control anything that anybody does because you can't control what McAfee does. I saw clips of that show and was just like, 'This is insane, I don't know anything that is going on over there.'' ESPN always knew Gillis' comedic stylings weren't going to be for everyone, but there were no worries about the 'Tires' star, who has worked with the network on its 'College GameDay' show, The Post learned last week. 4 Shane Gillis speaks onstage during the 2025 ESPY Awards at Dolby Theatre on July 16, 2025 in Hollywood, California. Getty Images Advertisement ESPN declined to comment. Gillis certainly pushed the envelope at the ESPYs. The actor faced some scrutiny for his jokes, which took aim at new Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and O.J. Simpson. Jones said he was surprised because the ESPN that he knew was much more strict when it came to 'what you can and can't get away with' on-air. The former NFL punter appeared at the 2025 ESPYs to honor Lee Corso, whose last show as a full-time cast member of 'College GameDay' is Aug. 30 in Columbus, Ohio. McAfee and fellow castmates Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard took the stage to share remarks of how Corso has impacted their broadcast careers. 4 (L-R) Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, Pat McAfee and Desmond Howard speak onstage during the 2025 ESPY Awards at Dolby Theatre on July 16, 2025 in Hollywood, California. Getty Images The McAfee era at ESPN ushered in a new way of doing things, such as the host cursing on the mic and complaining about higher-ups at the company. In January 2024, McAfee made headlines for calling then-ESPN executive senior vice president of studio and event production, Norby Williamson, a 'rat' — and accusing Williamson of sabotaging his show. Advertisement Williamson was out at ESPN that April after nearly four decades, as The Post learned that he and Burke Magnus, the president of content, did not share a vision that aligned with ESPN's long-term strategy and that Magnus made the decision to part ways with the seasoned executive. McAfee is also a regular contributor on the ESPN shows, 'Get Up' and 'College GameDay,' among other programs.

(AP Photo/Chris Pizzello) LOS ANGELES (AP) — Quarterback Matthew Stafford will begin the Los Angeles Rams' training camp on the sidelines while recovering from back soreness. Stafford is only expected to miss the first 'block' of roughly four practices in training camp, coach Sean McVay said Tuesday as the Rams reported to work at Loyola Marymount University. Advertisement 'He had a little bit of soreness in his back that kind of crept up,' McVay said. 'He's been throwing, feeling good. It's not anything that's necessarily new. It's something that he's dealt with before.' McVay already had a plan in place to limit Stafford's overall work in training camp, and the back soreness will push his camp debut back to next week at the earliest. The 10th-leading passer in NFL history was already expected to sit out occasional practices as he ramps up for his 17th season, and McVay traditionally does not use any key players in the preseason. The 37-year-old Stafford is beginning his fifth season with the Rams, who acquired him from Detroit in 2021 and immediately won the Super Bowl in February 2022. McVay said Stafford is expected to return to the field after the five-day 'acclimation period' to begin camp. Backup Jimmy Garoppolo will run the Rams' offense in the early practices. Advertisement 'Ultimately, it's about having him feel as good as possible going into Year 17,' McVay said. 'And that's where you do feel good about having a guy like Jimmy to step in and do a great job for the first few practices, and then Matthew will be ready to roll.' Stafford is playing this season with a substantial raise after a second straight offseason of financial discontent. This dispute was resolved more quickly than last year's standoff, and Stafford participated in the Rams' offseason workout programs to begin forming a bond with new receiver Davante Adams. 'If he was a first-year player, I think you'd say, 'Man, every rep really matters,'' McVay said. 'I think the important thing is having a big-picture perspective with a guy going into Year 17, based on this being something that he's had before and dealt with through different parts of his career. He's so in tune with his body, and talking with him, I feel really good.' McVay also expressed optimism about Alaric Jackson while outlining the Rams' recovery plan for their starting left tackle. Jackson had a reoccurrence of blood clots in his lower leg during the offseason, shortly after he agreed to a three-year, $57 million deal to stay with the Rams. Advertisement Jackson will not go on a restricted list to start training camp, but will do individual workouts while ramping up deliberately to full strength. McVay didn't want to guarantee that Jackson will be ready for the start of the season, but the Rams are optimistic. 'I do feel good about the plan we have in place that hopefully leads to him being able to go out and compete with his teammates,' McVay said. 'I know he's really feeling good. He's handled this like a total stud. ... He's got a lot of people that love him that are with him on this journey.' Los Angeles signed veteran offensive tackle D.J. Humphries in June as a backup plan if Jackson has any delays in his progress. ___ AP NFL:
