This year's Earth Day Sustainability Conference kicked off this morning in the ballroom of the Billingsly Student Center. The conference featured booths promoting earth-friendly ideas—like reducing pollutants in watersheds. The idea is to have an impact on the future for the environment and the students.
'Pretty much everyone in the club is an environmental health and safety major, and so it's nice to meet, you know, we have an environmental scientist in there from Quapaw, we have people working conservation, so we get to kind of meet people and network a little bit,' said Payton Randolph, Environmental Health and Safety Club Member.
We really are trying to develop that awareness in kids, teenagers, young adults, because that's where the future of a good environment lies.'
Earth Day has been celebrated on April 22nd since 1970 and is observed in nearly 200 countries.
