Man injured as fairground ride catches power cable
A man has been injured after a fairground ride caught an overhead power cable. Sussex Police said the man, aged in his 20s, sustained an "electric shock" at a St George's Day fair in Markstakes Corner, Chailey, at about 11:00 BST and was taken to hospital as a precaution. Ambulance crews assessed two other people who were discharged at the scene, said the South East Coast Ambulance Service. East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said a fairground ride had "caught on to an overhead power cable and caused electrocution". The fire service said it made the scene safe, confirming there was no fire, before handing over to UK Power Networks. The fair's organisers said on social media the event had been cancelled following the incident. Follow BBC Sussex on Facebook, on X, and on Instagram.
