Love Island star Ouzy See says he's thrilled to be back playing football because he was 'getting fat' after quitting to go into the villa
Ouzy See has opened up about returning to play football for Edinburgh City, after quitting the team two years ago to go on Love Island. The 30-year-old went into villa as a Casa Amor bombshell in 2023, where he sparked a romance with Kady McDermott, and lasted almost three weeks. He decided to put his footballing career on hold to enter the show, after joining Edinburgh City in 2020 and spending four years at Meadowbank. After taking a break to jet off to Mallorca, he seemingly left the team, referring to himself as being 'unemployed' in April last year. While his exit was never officially confirmed by the club, he shared a snap of himself decked out in the club's colours, with the caption: 'think I'm technically unemployed'. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. However, after months without a team, the model finally rejoined the Scottish club in November and has gushed over how thrilled he is to be back. While insisting he had no regrets about going on Love Island, Ouzy claimed he had been 'getting fat' without training. Speaking to The Sun, he said: 'I'm glad I took the risk and did it. These opportunities don't come up too often in your life. It changed my life in a way and the gaffer here, Michael McIndoe, was very understanding about it. 'But now I'm back and I am more committed to football rather than living the model lifestyle. I'm trying hard to commit everything to football right now. 'I'm enjoying it again and it feels good to be back in the routine here again. It feels good to be playing and training properly because I was getting fat!' Ouzy and Kady announced their split soon after being dumped, with Ouzy admitting that 'he was in the wrong' amid a flurry of cheating rumours. Kady made a cryptic dig about his 'bad behaviour' in a breakup statement, after reports that Ouzy met up with a stunning brunette influencer named Alicia, who he knew before Love Island, shortly after landing back in the UK. In a statement on Instagram, she wrote: 'Sadly late last night Ouzy's behaviour and actions from the 30th July were bought to my attention. Kady made a cryptic dig about his 'bad behaviour' in a breakup statement, after reports that Ouzy met up with a stunning brunette influencer named Alicia , who he knew before Love Island, shortly after landing back in the UK 'Ouzy is one of the loveliest people I have met and I know he is remorseful but unfortunately actions have consequences and although we are not 'official' in our relationship status I am definitely not prepared to start a relationship off on this foot. 'I wish him nothing but happiness and success in his life. Thank you for the continued support by so many of you, I'd like to focus on the many positives and move on with my life now.' Ouzy responded on his Story shortly afterwards as he penned: 'Just wanted to say what's happened with me and Kady had NOTHING to do with her or any false rumours that have been flying about, it's because of my actions that things have ended not Kady's. 'I have apologised to her already, she's an amazing girl with an amazing family and doesn't deserve any of the negative messages she has received this morning.' It comes after Love Island confirmed the full line-up of contestants joining the upcoming twelfth series on Wednesday. After joining the popular dating series in January 2023, Maya Jama will once again be at the helm when the ITV2 show returns on June 9. And there looks set to be the usual mix of love triangles, bedroom trysts and messy breakups as contestants make their way to the island. This year's crop of hopefuls include a Declan Rice body double, firebreather and Maura Higgins lookalike, as well as yet another footballer. Dejon Noel-Williams, who plays football semi-professionally alongside his job as a personal trainer, is also the son of a former Premier League striker. His dad is ex-Watford and Stoke striker Gifton, who 45, began his professional football career in 1996 when he joined Watford and last played for Codicote in 2017 before retiring. Dejon revealed that he 'met all kinds of famous people' because of his footballing father and even remarked on a meeting with David Beckham. He said: 'When I was younger it was weird because he was just my dad, but we'd go to a game and fans were asking for photos. I've met David Beckham, he was really nice.' Dejon, from London, boasts 11,000 followers on social media thanks in part to his regular shirtless gym snaps. His bio reads: 'I go beyond the gym -helping you build Strength, Confidence & Discipline for life.' In 2021, he represented the Grenada national football team. Dejon is not the only footballing connection in the upcoming series. Indeed, fans of the lower leagues may have spotted a star dubbed 'The Surrey Zidane'. Harry Cooksley, 29, is a midfielder for Southern League Premier South side Farnham Town. As well as his talent on the field, Harry also works as a gold trader and model. But more interestingly, his pastimes include being a body double for Declan Rice. He explained: 'So when he does a shoot, any body close ups will actually be me. Lynch resigns for City and has key role
Edin Lynch has signed a new contract with Edinburgh City and the Glasgow-born defender has a new role. The 24-year-old player will take over captaincy of the club from 36-year-old, Edinburgh-born midfielder, Jon Robertson. Last season was Lynch's first with the Meadowbank-based outfit after being part of Stenhousemuir's title winning side in season 2023/24. City have also said that goalkeeper Mark Weir has signed a new contract with the club who finished third Scottish League Two last term, collecting 56 points from their 36 games, nine behind second-placed East Fife and ten adrift of champions, Peterhead. They failed to earn promotion to Scottish League One through the play-offs, winning 1-0 at home to East Fife in the semi-final, first-leg in the Capital but losing 3-0 at Methil in the second-leg. Season tickets are now available and the club have confirmed their Premier Sports Cup fixtures. They open on Saturday, July 12 (3pm) against Partick Thistle in Edinburgh, then they travel to Queen of the South on Tuesday, July 15 (7.45pm). Their next outing is at home to Stranraer on Saturday, July 19 (3pm) and they then play Ross County, recently relegated from the William Hill Premiership, in Dingwall on Tuesday, July 22 (7.45pm). East Fife star Alan Trouten confident he will still be banging the goals in next season at 40
The League Two Player of the Year, from Cambuslang, has enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career in 2024/25 Alan Trouten says a career-best goals total as East Fife sealed promotion to League One proves he can still bang them in next season. Trouten, 39, scored 28 goals in total in 43 games, 22 in League Two, four in the League Cup group stages, and a further two in the play-offs, in wins over Edinburgh City and Annan Athletic. That netted Trouten League Two Player of the Year and Top Goal-scorer as Dick Campbell's side made the step up to the third tier. Trouten, from Cambuslang, said: 'It has been a great season. The big and only probably disappointment was not winning the league, we set out to win it at the start of the season. 'Fair play to Peterhead, I don't think the league table lies, and the best team won it in the end, but I thought it was massive for us to then win the play-offs. 'Usually when somebody does run the eventual league winners so close, they have that dip and they can't get themselves going for the play-offs. 'So I thought to then show that mentality and attitude to win the play-offs, I was extremely proud of myself and the boys to clinch it and win promotion. 'We wanted to win the league, we fell short, but the biggest thing was to get promoted, and we did that in the end. 'When you see the teams in it, I would imagine East Fife will be favourites for relegation – but we saw what Stenhousemuir did last season, they went up and made the play-offs. 'You don't want to put that pressure on you, but it can be done, and you need to set your targets high.' On his incredible goals tally, Trouten said: 'My best ever was when I was at Albion Rovers when I got 28, with 20 being in the league, so I managed to beat my best-ever league total and equalled my overall total. 'I was hoping, as it was getting closer in the last couple of matches, to beat it – and I had a half-decent chance in the Annan game which is still haunting me. 'I thought I should have scored and that would have beat it, and sealed the game, but the main thing was to get the club back to League One. 'It's a good place to be. The club had been relegated the year before I went. In my first season we got to the play-offs but fell short, I don't think we were ready, and last season was a bit up and down with the managerial changes, but we had stability when the gaffer and his coaching staff came in. 'In the first full season under them, we were able to do it.' Trouten turns 40 in November, but has absolutely no doubt that he can still do a job for the Fifers. He said: 'If I didn't have the hunger or desire, or my body was telling me something different... I think I missed one game through injury and that's one of the biggest things that I'm proud of, that what I do away from the pitch allows me to play so many games. 'I imagine I would have been in the top three for minutes at the club, so to do that at my age I think that shows that I'm fit and able to do that again next season. 'I never set myself personal targets. It's not in my make-up, I just want to do as well as I can, and I feel I'm able to do that if my body holds up, and I've been proved correct this season. 'So hopefully it's another successful season for myself and the team.'

Edinburgh outdoor breakfast plans spark noise concerns
Edinburgh's heritage watchdog has raised concerns after city councillors approved plans for food businesses to serve customers outdoors from 07: businesses can only serve customers at outdoor tables and chairs from 09:00 until 21: a new year-long trial could see outdoor eating and drinking areas open an hour-and-a-half earlier from the start of heritage watchdog the Cockburn Association said the new opening times must be policed by council officials to prevent early morning noise for nearby residents. The rules for the Grassmarket, where businesses can only use outdoor furniture from midday until 21:00, will remain the same. Tony Crolla, chairman of Vittoria Group - which includes Vittoria, Divino, Bertie's and a Taste of Italy - was behind the campaign for the longer operating successfully argued that visitors to the city should be able to sit outside for breakfast when they paid a tourist tax - which starts in summer council report said: "This will allow businesses with permits more flexibility in terms of their operating hours and has the potential to increase footfall and boost the local economy in both the city and town centres." But Terry Levinthal, director of the Cockburn Association, told BBC Scotland News that he had concerns around how the trial would be warned that the noise impact on nearby homes would need to be closely said he wanted the council to add conditions to its licensing which would protect people living in densely populated areas of the Levinthal also raised issue with the "steady creep of commercialisation of public space" which could eventually put people off living in the city centre."Very frequently the people who are making these decisions don't have skin in the game when it comes to that direct impact on residential amenity," he Jenkinson, City of Edinburgh Council's transport and environment convener, said: "This is an example of us listening, acting to support our business community while maintaining robust management."We're also clear that accessibility for pedestrians is a priority, with strict conditions to maintain appropriate widths for pedestrian access."We'll continually monitor the scheme and address any concerns regarding noise, compliance or any other issues with businesses and other key stakeholders as appropriate."

Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad McIndoe and his young players must be commended for what has been an otherwise fantastic campaign. "You've got to praise this young and inexperienced team," he said afterwards. "There has been a whole rebuild of this football club in the last 12 to 18 months. We have to understand that. Are we disappointed not to get through to the final next week? Of course we are. But we also need to be proud of this team. "We have 17 signed players, the smallest budget in the SPFL and I think everyone now knows we're a dangerous team to play against. I've told the players don't be too disappointed. We're going to bring in stronger, better players to help out the group because we're going to keep the majority together and we'll be ready to go again next season. So, the message from Edinburgh City is of course we're disappointed but we'll be back. And we can't be looking to get in the play-offs, we have to be looking to win the title." Meanwhile, Bonnyrigg Rose have a fight on their hands if they are to retain their SPFL status. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Jonny Stewart's side went down 3-1 in the first leg of their pyramid play-off against Lowland League champions East Kilbride - Aaron Arnott on target for the visitors in South Lanarkshire. Rose must now overturn a two-goal deficit in the deciding leg at New Dundas Park on Saturday if they are to avoid relegation to the Lowland League. Stewart said: "It's only half-time in the tie and it will be a completely different game at Bonnyrigg. I expect us to have a massive crowd at home and hopefully they can roar us on because we're not going down without a fight."
