Hostel warden removed after students' protest
Barwani: Hostel warden of Eklavya Model Residential School in Barwani was removed after students protested in front of collectorate gate following a foot march. Hundreds of the students supported by the NSUI district body staged a protest on Thursday accusing hostel warden Nitisha Verma of discrimination based on caste and religion, beating and misbehaviour with parents. They demanded her removal while protesting for almost three hours. Collector Kajal Jawala told media persons on Friday that following the students' complaint, hostel warden Verma was removed and her responsibilities for the senior and junior houses of the hostel were assigned to two senior teachers. A letter was being written to govt for further action. Verma termed the allegations against her baseless and stated that mobile phones were seized from the students many times. Education key to upliftment of family, society: Guv tells tribal community
Udaipur: At a programme held at Eklavya Model Residential School on the second day of his two-day visit to the tribal-dominated Kotda block in Udaipur district, governor Haribhau Bagde Thursday urged tribal youth to continue their education despite challenging circumstances, stating that "education is the key to the upliftment of families and society. " Bagde said that after completing one year in office as Rajasthan governor, he now wished to visit rural areas to engage with people and assess whether govt schemes had reached them and to what extent. That was why, he said, he chose a remote area like Kotda to mark the completion of the first year of his tenure. Bagde expressed pleasure at interacting with the tribal community and noted that the benefits of new schemes from both the Union and state govts were reaching them. Promoting education was essential to eradicating poverty, he said. Due to small landholdings and increasing population, agricultural potential is limited, making it crucial to seek employment through education, he advised. Expressing condolences over the Jhalawar school tragedy, the governor suggested that such incidents can be avoided by ensuring roofs are waterproof and by preventing water accumulation during construction. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Japanese AI invention allows you to speak 68 languages instantly. Stir threatened in ‘neglected' Manipur district
GUWAHATI A village authority representing the people of Noney, the headquarters of Manipur's Noney district, has threatened a mass agitation against the infrastructural and administrative negligence in the Naga-dominated district. In a memorandum to Manipur's Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on May 3, the Longmai Village Authority set a 10-day deadline for the State government to ensure a series of projects promised to Noney when it was carved out of the Tamenglong district in 2016. The deadline expired on May 12. 'We have been compelled to go ahead with a democratic form of mass agitation after not receiving an affirmative response within the 10 days from the date of submission of our 15-point memorandum,' Kasaigai Gangmei, the chairman of Longmai Village Authority, said. Locals often refer to Noney, about 63 km west of the State's capital, Imphal, as Longmai. According to the village authority, the district administration is functioning without proper infrastructure and subordinate staff. It claimed projects such as the prefab field district hospital at Longmai have not moved after their foundation stones were laid over the past few years. Some of the projects that have not taken off include the Eklavya Model Residential School at Duibansui, the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Noney, the Industrial Training Institute at Noney, and a cold storage at a suitable location. The village authority also said the offices of most of the departments have not been opened in the district yet. Apart from Mr. Gangmei, the memorandum was signed by the Longmai Village Authority's secretary, Gailanchung Kamei, and Longmai Customary Court functionaries Keineshong Gonmei and Gongjai Kamei.
