Stranger Things season five: Everything we know about show finale from release date and surprise split

Fans are eagerly awaiting the final series to drop after Netflix released first glimpse at season five. Netflix have confirmed the release date for Stranger Things ' final season as well as releasing the first footage, but fans are up in arms over a surprise split. The long-running and hugely popular TV series, one of the most successful in the history of the platform and is destined to finally come to an end after almost a decade. ‌ The series spawned the careers of several stars, with the returning Millie Bobby Brown having landed a string of top TV and film roles since her first appearance as Eleven in the series. ‌ Interest in the final series is sky high after a cliffhanger episode at the end of season four that appeared to show the Upside-Down encroaching on the fictional rural town of Hawkins, Indiana. But fans are going to have to be more patient than usual when Season Five gets under way. That's because the final season is being split into three parts. The footage in a trailer released by Netflix shows Hawkins fully under attack by the Upside-Down, confirming what was hinted at in season four's finale. One fan responding to the footage simply went: "CHILLS", whilst another said: "OMG 3 parts? How many episodes are we getting? Please let it be good and dont f this up!" ‌ Whilst it has previously been confirmed that the final season will be eight episodes long, fans were less than pleased to find out that the series would be released in three parts. Responding on X, previously Twitter, one fan said: "Netflix getting wayyy to comfortable with this "volume" bullsh*t." Another said: "THREE PARTS MAKE IT STOP." ‌ Volume 1 will release November 26, with Volume 2 releasing on Christmas Day. Then, finally, Volume 3 will see the show come to a close on New Year's Eve, 2025. Another fan pointed out that for many, releasing the finale on New Year's Eve will make it near impossible to watch on the first night, leaving the likelihood of spoilers incredibly high. Regardless, most seemed thrilled at the footage, with one fan simply saying: "the NOSTALGIA this show gives me is insane. i'm not ready for it to end." ‌ Though Netflix have remained tight lipped on what to expect from the final season of Stranger Things, they have given away some details. The Duffer Brothers, the creators of the show, stated that the final season would essentially be 'eight blockbuster movies' and hinted that they filmed 'over 650 hours of footage'. ‌ Matt Duffer however has hinted that, whilst the story that kicked off the show is coming to an end, that didn't necessarily spell the end for Stranger Things. He said: "While this might be the end of the story for Mike, Hopper, Dustin, Lucas, Eleven, and the others, it's not goodbye for Stranger Things. There are many more stories to tell."

How much is the 'Stranger Things' star cast earning in the final season? Check out the massive raise in the pay cheques

'Stranger Things' has been winning the hearts of the audience, even if the series was upside down. With fighting Demogorgons and escaping Vecna's trap, the entire star cast managed to earn millions of dollars per season. Let's take a look at the jaw-dropping pay cheques and how the stars ran up the million-dollar hill over the seasons. Millie Bobby Brown Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), with the power of telekinesis and love for Eggo waffles, debuted the season with $30,000 per episode, which remained the same for the following season as well. However, according to IMDB, the pay took a massive jump to $250,000 per episode in season 3, and by season 4, the 21-year-old was earning $300,000 per episode. In the upcoming and final season, Brown has cracked the code and is likely to earn half a million dollars per episode. Considering that season 5 will have eight episodes, the pay will sum up to $4 million. She did not negotiate with the producers in the regular way of thinking about just the series. Netflix and Millie Bobby Brown allegedly shook hands that would cover not only Stranger Things but also another hit film franchise, Enola Holmes. She reportedly earned $10 million for 'Enola Holmes 2,' making her the highest-paid actor under the age of 20. Additionally, she produced the film as well, further boosting the millions in the bank. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like After Losing Weight Kevin James Looks Like A Model 33 Bridges Undo Winona Ryder and David Harbour The veteran stars, Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers) and David Harbour (Chief Hopper), have signed a contract of $9.5 million for the fifth season. PSA: Stranger Things fans are not happy about this season 5 detail

Stranger Things fans, we have some good news and some bad. Last night, Netflix hosted its annual Tudum event, which celebrates all things on the streaming platform, plus shares exclusives from its biggest shows. As we all know, Stranger Things is one of them, so it was the perfect place for a few exciting announcements. From a brief sneak peek of what's to come in season five, a highlight reel of some of the most memorable moments from past episodes, and a cameo from Millie Bobby Brown, aka Eleven, Netflix also revealed when fans can expect to catch the new series. And this is where the mixed news comes in. While the platform did announce that the new episodes are just around the corner, they also shared that they'll be dropping in three parts. Yep, you heard that right: THREE. The first will enter the void on November 26, the second will follow on Christmas Day, and the last will be released on New Year's Eve. Basically, that's bad news for anyone who loves to binge-watch a series and hates waiting for episodes to drop in instalments. Following the news, fans of the show have taken to social media to share their frustration, with many sharing funny memes to express their disappointment. "Stranger Things season 5 is three parts??? absolutely not," one person said, as another penned: "You're telling me the 4th season of Stranger Things came out in 2022, the final season is coming out in Fall of this year, and Netflix has the nerve to split it up in THREE PARTS?!?!?!?" Elsewhere, someone else echoed: "THE LAST SEASON OF STRANGER THINGS IS BEING SPLIT INTO THREE PARTS ARE YOU KIDDING ME," while a fourth screamed: "Stranger Things s5 broken up into three parts this just isn't serious." Stranger Things is currently streaming on Netflix.

David Harbour as Jim Hopper and Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven (Image: Netflix ) Fans were quick to react to the news shared at the Tudum event. One posted on social media saying: "1am!!!!!! Matt and Ross Duffer previously told Tudum that they wrote a 25-page mythology document for Netflix back in Season 1 that delves into the lore of the Upside Down. Explaining, Matt said: 'We were like, 'we know what's going on in the Upside Down, more or less, but we want it to be unknowable. We want it to be mysterious..' But they (Netflix) were like, 'Yeah, but can you write it down?' And so we wrote it all down.' Article continues below While the audience learned quite a bit about the Upside Down in Season 4, there's definitely more to come in Season 5. Ross added: 'The last remaining questions that are answered in that document, we've punted a couple of those to have some big reveals in Season 5 and that's really going to affect what Season 5 is about.' Stranger Things season 5 is streaming on Netflix starting November 27.
