Enhypen's Japan single debuts atop Oricon chart

Enhypen's fourth Japanese-language physical single made a chart-topping debut on Oricon's Daily Single Ranking, selling over 300,000 copies on the first day. The single 'Yoi' topped the daily chart, as did all the group's 15 singles and albums published in Korea and Japan, and logged the highest sales figure in Japan so far for Enhypen. Upon release, the music video for the main track 'Shine On Me' was the most-watched in Japan as per Line Music's real-time music video chart. Two MVs from the group's sixth EP, "Desire Unleashed" — 'Outside' and 'Bad Desire (With or Without You)' — followed directly behind. The group plans to host a showcase to mark the release of the single in Tokyo on Thursday and will hit the stage in Osaka over the weekend as part of its 'Walk the Line' tour.

The hottest sound of the summer? K-pop.

K-pop is having a golden moment. The signs have been there since the start of the summer, with groups such as Stray Kids, Itzy, Enhypen and Ateez driving sweaty swarms of American K-pop fans to stadiums from Los Angeles to D.C. Then two of the genre's international trailblazers reunited. The girl group BlackPink, whose four members dispersed to pursue high-profile solo projects over the past couple years, are back on tour together and promoting new music. The boy-band septet BTS wasted no time reconvening after the last of its members completed their mandatory military service in June, and have told fans that they are already at work on new music.

Enhypen's Bangkok fan events draw praise from former Thai culture minister

Hybe's immersive promotions win fans and official recognition during stadium tour stop Bangkok transformed into a vibrant celebration of Enhypen, as the K-pop group brought its world tour to Thailand last month and earned official praise from the country's leading cultural office. Enhypen is managed by Belift Lab, a subsidiary of Hybe, which has rolled out a series of fan-focused events across Bangkok tied to the 'Walk the Line' tour. These initiatives infused Enhypen's branding into local cultural promotions, offering fans more than just a concert — they created an immersive citywide experience. Enhypen's fan engagement programs in Bangkok will continue through the end of July. The events received high praise from Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, who served as Thailand's Minister of Culture until last month. In an official commendation, she lauded Hybe and Enhypen for raising global awareness of Thai culture. 'The promotional designs creatively combined traditional Thai architecture with modern urban identity to express 'Thainess' in a fresh and engaging way,' she said. 'This event holds significant cultural, entertainment and economic value, and deserves recognition.' She also emphasized the broader impact of hosting internationally renowned Korean artists. 'Hosting such stars offers unforgettable experiences for both fans and the Thai public. I deeply appreciate this visionary effort to enhance the country's image and build lasting international goodwill,' she added. The campaign offered several standout highlights. Limited-edition transit cards bearing the members' portraits sold out instantly, and photo booths in city centers drew constant attention. Oversized outdoor ads — including banners near Suvarnabhumi International Airport — reinforced Enhypen's presence throughout the capital. A specially themed hotel room package sold out just three minutes after launch. Meanwhile, six Thai food and beverage brands across 116 outlets introduced Enhypen-branded menu items, selling approximately 40,000 units. One of the most popular collaborations featured Butterbear, a beloved local character dressed in Enhypen's tour outfits. The illustrations appeared on packaging, stickers and postcards, creatively weaving K-pop imagery into daily life. Meanwhile, Enhypen drew around 30,000 fans to the Rajamangala National Stadium, June 21, Thailand's largest concert venue. After performing at Tokyo Dome in July, the group heads to Osaka next month. 'Walk the Line' world tour will then visit 10 cities across the United States and Europe in August and September, before concluding with a stop in Singapore in October.

Lola Amour says they don't let pressure of creating another hit dictate the music they make

Lola Amour has had a roster of hit songs throughout their career, like 'Fallen,' 'Dahan Dahan,' 'Pwede Ba,' and of course, 'Raining in Manila.' 'Raining in Manila' has been a massive hit since it came out in 2023, with the likes of National Artist Ricky Lee and K-Pop band Enhypen becoming fans of the song. Michael V. even made a spoof of the song titled 'Waiting Here sa Pila.' The song gave Lola Amour a larger fanbase in the Philippines and abroad, and it is safe to say that it still gets played today. But despite producing a megahit, Lola Amour has their feet planted on the ground, and is not letting any pressure get to them to release another one. In an interview with GMA News Online, vocalist Pio Dumayas said that there is always pressure to an extent when it comes to creating and releasing songs, 'but the point is, we don't let that pressure dictate what kind of music we make.' 'I don't want to put anyone down who's chasing hits, but I don't think that's something that works for us, because what has been working for Lola Amour for the longest time is to make whatever music we want to and then hope someone likes it,' he said. Pio added, 'You can see it from our discography na magkaiba talaga lahat ng kanta namin and walang nagbago. I guess it's just the way 'yung taste namin, the way we write music, but the why of why we make the music is it's always been the same.' Trumpet player Angelo Mesina said that they are not the type to follow trends with each release. 'Even way back then, we made songs to cater to what we felt was right for the song. We made the music to encapsulate what the lyricist made, what we felt during at that time, didn't necessarily dictate to what genre it could be.' Keyboardist David Yuhico said it best: 'As someone wise once said, it's about the art and not the charts.' Lola Amour is set to release their sophomore album 'Love on Loop' on August 15. This year, Lola Amour released the singles 'Maria,' 'Misbehave,' 'Dance with My Mistakes,' and 'The Moment.' Lola Amour released their self-titled debut album in April 2024, and celebrated with a grand album launch at the Circuit Makati Event Grounds, a sold-out show at Draft Punk in Cebu, and an album tour. —JCB, GMA Integrated News

The sixth EP from Enhypen added another week to its stay on Billboard 200, ranking No. 158 in the fifth consecutive frame, according to the chart dated July 19. The mini album topped Oricon's Daily, Weekly and Weekly Combined Album Rankings and earned platinum certification fro the Recording Industry Association of Japan. Meanwhile, the septet is slated to roll out single 'Yoi' in Japan on July 29.
