7 rehabilitated Kapuso classrooms in Pililla, Rizal now ready for use

Seven newly rehabilitated Kapuso classrooms at the Virgilio B. Melendres Memorial Elementary School in Pililla, Rizal, are now ready for use. According to "24 Oras" on Wednesday, GMA Kapuso Foundation first built the seven Kapuso classrooms in the school in 2010 after it was devastated by Typhoon Ondoy. The Kapuso classrooms, however, were devastated in 2024 following the onslaught of super typhoon Carina and tropical storm Enteng. The classrooms, now restored and made even stronger, are ready to be used, with Kindergarten student Grey among the many learners who will get to experience them. "Binuhusan natin 'yung corridor sa likod. At the same time, nilagyan natin ng kanal para 'yung tubig ma-divert siya hindi papunta sa classroom, papunta na siya palabas dito sa school," said GMA Kapuso Foundation supervising engineer Arnel Zantua. New armchairs and teachers' desks were also installed in Kapuso classrooms. A smart TV was likewise donated to the school, and rice and food were distributed to the students. GMA Kapuso Foundation advocate Patricia Tumulak was among those who took part in the initiative. "Sana ganahan sila mag-aral kasi sa pamamagitan ng pag-aaral nang mabuti diyan tayo aahon sa kahirapan at kaagapay ninyo ang GMA Kapuso Foundation at ang mga donors at sponsors nito," said GMA Kapuso Foundation EVP/COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. GMA Kapuso Foundation to build hanging bridge in Rodriguez, Rizal

GMA Kapuso Foundation is set to build a 50-meter cable-suspended concrete and steel hanging bridge in Rodriguez, Rizal, which will benefit over 4,000 residents. According to a "24 Oras" report on Wednesday, teachers and students have to cross a raging river in Barangay Puray to get to school even amid inclement weather conditions, and so do members of the Dumagat-Remontado indigenous community who have to carry their root crops while crossing the tributary. 'Pag ito po kasi bahang-baha, 'yung aking mga kamag-anak, namamaybay sila roon, diyan sila dumadaan sa gubat para lang makalusot sila rito sa kabila. Halos wala naman kasing tuloy-tuloy na daan, kumbaga mahigit isang oras din," said resident Rolando Aquino. GMA Kapuso Foundation will construct the bridge under its Kapuso Tulay Para sa Kaunlaran Project with the help of its sponsors, partners, donors, and volunteers. Per GMA Kapuso Foundation EVP/COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog, they chose this area in Rodriguez, Rizal because it was heavily hit by typhoons Carina and Enteng last year. "Hindi sila makatawid, ang taas-taas ng tubig. Sisiguraduhin ho natin na hindi na ho kayo maa-isolate," she said. Meanwhile, Armed Forces of the Philippines Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations, Major General Arvin Lagamon, said that the military's participation in the project will not just involve security but also speeding up the bridge's construction. "Ang physical na contribution ng LGU ay 'yung mga aggregates and to facilitate 'yung mobility ng lahat ng mga materyales," Rodriguez, Rizal Mayor Ronnie Evangelista also said. For those who wish to support GMA Kapuso Foundation's projects, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, and Shopee. Kapuso Foundation distributes school arm chairs and teachers' desks to Rizal public school

The Kapuso Foundation has distributed 35 school arm chairs and teachers desks to Catmon Elementary School in Rodriguez Rizal. Together with McDonalds Philippines, the Kapuso Foundation extended help to the public elementary school after it withstood damage from two of last year's typhoons, Carina and Enteng. Apart from repainting the four Kapuso classrooms that the Kapuso Foundation donated following 2009's Ondoy, GMA's charitable institution partnered with McDonalds Philippines to donate and distribute 35 school arm chairs that have been repurposed from old restaurant furniture. The chairs are a product of McDonalds Philippines' Reclassified Project, where old but still usable furniture are repurposed and are made stronger to help address the lack of chairs in public schools in the country. They spruced up the chairs, repainted them, and made them stronger and more comfortable for the kids. For good measure, also donated teachers' desks. "Malaking tulong ang mga upuan. Itong mga binigay niyo ay mako-complete somehow ang mga kakulangan ng paaralan pagdating sa upuan," said Catmon Elementary School Principal Madonna Evangelio. — LA, GMA Integrated News
