PHOTOS: Megan Moroney kicks in some country to get Boston Calling 2025 rolling
The self-proclaimed 'Emo Cowgirl' turned some heads in Boston on a rainy Friday night and it's not just because of those shiny white boots, bright red dress and matching lipstick. Megan Moroney took the stage after Sheryl Crow and got the country fans in attendance ready for two-time Country Music Association Award for Entertainer of the Year winner Luke Combs with her own award-winning country twang. Moroney, 27, went from watching Kenny Chesney in concert from section 312 of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2018, to dropping a duet with Mr. No Shoes Nation just a few weeks back called 'You Had to Be There.' She first got noticed when she opened for Chase Rice while she was a student at the University of Georgia. Speaking of Moroney and Combs, she actually made an appearance in his 'Beer Never Broke My Heart' music video back in 2019, well before she dropped her latest chart-topper 'Am I OK?' and 2022 breakout hit 'Tennessee Orange.' Moroney will be back in Boston this summer, when she hits Roadrunner for a pair of shows in early August. 23 of our favorite photos that summarize Boston Calling 2024 Country music superstars perform chart-topping duet at Boston Calling PHOTOS: Luke Combs wraps up Night 1 at 2025 Boston Calling Acclaimed indie band recalls Boston Calling act that left them starstruck After serious safety concerns at Boston Calling last year, fans return in 2025 T-Pain gets Boston Calling sprung on Night 1 (Photos) Boston Calling 2025 food vendors Who is Playing and When? Louisiana stars win big at 2025 ACM Awards, with country favorites headed near you soon
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Louisiana showed up at the 2025 ACM Awards, which aired live from Frisco, Texas, on May 8, 2025. Some of the night's biggest stars are either from right here in our backyard or headed our way soon. Kix Brooks, born and raised in Shreveport, took the stage once again as one half of Brooks & Dunn, who grabbed another Duo of the Year win. The legendary pair's long connection to Louisiana's music roots was front and center, proof that Shreveport's influence on country music hasn't slowed down a bit. Jordan Davis, another hometown name, was also in the building. The Shreveport native served as a presenter this year, standing among the top names in country music. Davis has long credited his time growing up in Shreveport for shaping his sound, and now he's bringing that local legacy to national stages. Several artists who lit up the ACM stage are set to perform in the Shreveport-Bossier area over the next few months, making the celebration feel even closer to home. Lainey Wilson, who dominated the night with four major wins, including Entertainer of the Year, is coming to Bossier City later this year as part of her Whirlwind Tour. Wilson, a Baskin, Louisiana native, also took home Female Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. She's no stranger to northwest Louisiana and now she's bringing that winning streak back to the region. Parker McCollum, who stepped in as a presenter during the show, is also Shreveport-bound. The Texas artist has a stop booked at Brookshire Grocery Arena this July, keeping his strong fan base in Louisiana close. Gretchen Wilson to headline R&B Jazz festival after winning The Masked Singer Gretchen Wilson also made an appearance at the ACM Awards as a presenter. Fresh off her win on The Masked Singer Season 13, Wilson will be in Natchitoches for the upcoming Jazz R&B Festival May 10, 2025. The 2025 ACM Awards may have been held in Texas but make no mistake the heart of country music was pulsing from right here in northwest Louisiana. And with all these artists headed our way soon, the celebration's far from over. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Country singer Cody Johnson shares major life update on ACM Awards red carpet
Cody Johnson has revealed a big life update while at the 2025 American Country Music Awards. Before Thursday's awards ceremony, the country singer said while on the red carpet that he and his wife, Brandi, are expecting their third child together. 'We're having a little boy!' he told People. 'We decided to make this our announcement to the world and our gender reveal as well.' Johnson and his wife are currently parents to two daughters, Clara Mae, 10, and Cori, 8. The two have been married for over 10 years and first met when they were teenagers. 'My girls .. you can't beat my girls, I love my two girls with all my heart,' he added regarding the upcoming addition to his family. 'They're 10 and 8, Clara and Cori, and I think I'm excited to watch them help raise this little boy.' He told the publication that having a child now will be a little different compared to his daughters because he feels he is 'a lot better off now as far as career and financially.' 'He's going to get to do some things a little quicker than my daughters did,' Johnson said. The 'Leather' singer was then asked if he was hoping for his third child to be a boy, he quickly responded, 'Yes.' 'I didn't care if this one was a boy or a girl, but I was pretty happy when I saw the gender reveal,' Johnson said. Later in the evening, Johnson went on to win the award for Song of the Year for 'Dirt Cheap.' One of Johnson's fellow nominees, Morgan Wallen, ended up not attending this year's ACM Awards despite receiving a total of seven nominations, including Entertainer of the Year. Instead of attending the event, the 31-year-old country music star shared a photo on his Instagram Story that evening of him tossing a football on a golf course with retired NFL star Tom Brady. 'Had a little mustard on it @tombrady,' Wallen captioned the picture. In addition to being nominated for the show's top award, the Entertainer of the Year, the 'Love Somebody' singer had earned nods for Male Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Music Event of the Year, and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. He lost out in all seven categories. The reason for Wallen's absence remains unknown, though it continues his streak of missed awards shows. The Independent had contacted Wallen's representative for comment.

2025 ACM Awards: Lainey Wilson wins big and Alan Jackson performs
Lainey Wilson took home the top honor at the 60th annual Academy of Country Music Awards Thursday. The "Whirlwind" singer-songwriter picked up four ACM wins overall and was named Entertainer of the Year again. In her acceptance speech, the 32-year-old admitted to feeling "imposter syndrome" but also shared a new perspective on it. "I'm sure everybody deals with a little bit of imposter syndrome but I won't lie to you. I have a little bit. But I read something not long ago that just said, 'If something is given to you, then you need to accept it with an open heart and an open mind,'" she said. "And I just appreciate it." Wilson also said she had "the best fans in the world" and added that she wanted to be a performer since she was young. "I dreamed about entertaining. I love making people feel things. I love making people laugh and smile and cry," said Wilson. "Because I love to feel things. Everybody loves to feel things and country music has given me more than I deserve and I appreciate everybody in this room." Another winner at this year's ACMs was Alan Jackson, who delivered an emotional performance of his 2003 greatest hit "Remember When," nearly four years after he revealed back in 2021 that he had been diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease or CMT, a genetic condition that affects sensory and motor nerves and can cause neuropathy or nerve damage that leads to symptoms such as pain, weakness, sensory or motor problems, according to the National Institutes of Health. Jackson was also honored with inaugural ACM Alan Jackson Lifetime Achievement Award, named after him and given in recognition for his "outstanding achievements and enduring legacy in country music." "It's quite an honor. A few years ago, one of my fans named their dog after me and I thought that was something but then, this is just really, amazing," Jackson said in his acceptance speech. "I came to Nashville with a paper sack full of songs and a crazy dream. And, all these years later, I'm standing here, receiving such an honor like this, it's just mind-blowing," he added.
