SPADE got things off to a pretty good start with just 43 words remaining. I opted for all new letters with BROIL but this turned up no new boxes. With six words left, I guessed DAUNT which slashed that number down to just one: DATUM for the win! Tricky word . . . . Today's Wordle Bot Screenshot: Erik Kain In keeping with our narrow June competition, the Wordle Bot and I tied today, each getting zero points for a June tally of: Erik: 2 points Wordle Bot: 2 points FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder The word datum comes directly from Latin datum, which means 'something given' (it's the neuter of datus, the past participle of dare, 'to give'). In Medieval and Neo-Latin, datum was used in scholarly writings to refer to a piece of information or a premise. English borrowed it in the 17th–18th century in the sense of 'an item of information,' later becoming established in scientific and technical contexts as the singular of data. NYT ‘Strands' Today: Hints, Spangram And Answers For Wednesday, June 4th

Today's NYT Strands hints and answers Credit: New York Times Looking for Tuesday's Strands hints, spangram and answers? You can find them here: Hello dearest Strandistarians. I'm once again taking over for my colleague Paul Tassi today in our quest to uncover words in your daily Strands puzzle. Strands is the newest game in the New York Times' stable of puzzle games. It's a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we're given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day's theme. Spoilers ahead. Read on for today's theme and some hints to help you uncover today's words. Instead of giving you the first two letters of each word, today I'm giving out three hints instead of two. Today's Theme: Monster quest Hint: Sasquatch type beasts. Clue: Nessie, for instance. Here are the first two letters of each of today's words: Remember, spoilers ahead! Today's spangram is: CRYPTIDS Here's the full list of words: Here's the completed Strands grid: Today's Strands Screenshot: Erik Kain Cryptids—today's spangram—are species that are rumored to exist but cannot be proven scientifically. It's possible that a KRAKEN is somewhere in the depths of the ocean, however unlikely, or that BIGFOOT roams the wilderness, perhaps befriending a JACKALOPE or two. I got a couple of these pretty quickly, but was pretty stumped for awhile. YETI wasn't too bad, but even though I suspected JACKALOPE it took me a good bit to find it as well as MOTHMAN. How did you do on your Strands today? Let me know on Twitter and Facebook. Be sure to check out my blog for my daily Wordle guides as well as all my other writing about TV shows, streaming guides, movie reviews, video game coverage and much more. Thanks for stopping by!

How to solve today's Wordle. SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images Looking for Sunday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: It's the first Monday of June and some might say the first Monday of summer, though I hew to the solstices, personally. This year, the Summer Solstice takes place on my birthday, June 20th. I like to think the first day of summer is also my day. Mine and mine alone. Still, it may as well be summer outside. Go out and enjoy some sunshine—but first, let's solve this Wordle! The Hint: To make oneself attractive, or to talk about it annoyingly. The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . Today's Wordle Credit: Erik Kain Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. I don't feel particularly good about my guessing game today, and ultimately I just got super lucky on my fourth guess. STORE left me with 214 words, but rearranging my yellow boxes was pretty unsuccessful. REACH only slashed that number down to 61. GRIEF, sadly, only reduced that number to four. I came up with three possible answers: BREED, FREED and PREEN. I was pretty sure BREED had already been used, so I guessed PREEN and lucky me, that was the Wordle! Today's Wordle Bot Credit: Erik Kain A complete reversal of yesterday's score today. I get 0 for guessing in four and -1 for losing to the Bot. The Bot gets 1 point for guessing in three and 1 for beating me, bringing our June totals to a tie: Erik: 1 point Wordle Bot: 1 point FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder The verb preen comes from late Middle English prenen 'dress or groom oneself,' which in turn derives from Middle Dutch pruinen 'dress up, make neat.' Originally it meant 'to dress or adorn oneself with pride,' and by the mid‑15th century it was applied to birds 'smoothing or arranging their feathers' by analogy to human grooming. Today's ‘Wordle' #1441 Hints, Clues And Answer For Friday, May 30th

How to solve today's Wordle. SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images Looking for Thursday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: It's the last Friday of May. The best month of the year is almost here—June, the month of your humble narrator's birth—but before we can celebrate, we have a Wordle to solve. Since it's 2XP Friday, be sure to double your points for good or bad if you're playing Competitive Wordle. Let's get right to it! The Hint: It's raining cats and dogs. The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . Today's Wordle Credit: Erik Kain Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. CLOUT wasn't a great opener today, leaving me with 251 words and just one yellow box. Apparently RAMEN would have been a better second guess than SPAIN, according to Wordle Bot, but at least I was down to just 8 words and had a second vowel. VIDEO, despite being a radio star killer, was not the answer but it left me with just one possible solution: IDIOM for the win! Today's Wordle Bot Credit: Erik Kain Another tie, another zero point day for both the Bot and myself. Sort of disappointing since we don't get to double nothing. Our May totals remain at: Erik: 22 points Wordle Bot: 15 points I don't think there's a way for Wordle Bot to win at this point. Even if I lose three points by failing completely and the Bot gets it on its first try, that would be 19 for me and 19 for the Bot. A tie is the best it can hope for, and the likelihood of that outcome is next to nothing. It passed into Latin as idioma, then into French, and finally into English in the 16th century. Originally, it referred to a particular style or form of expression unique to a person or group.
