Saudi Foreign Minister Holds Phone Call with His Eritrean Counterpart
Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held a phone call with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Eritrea Osman Ali Saleh, SPA reported. During the call, they reviewed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, in addition to discussing regional and international issues of mutual interest.

New Dam Inaugurated in Dirfo Administrative Area
A new dam in the Dirfo administrative area, Central Region, constructed at a cost of over 15 million Nakfa with a capacity to hold more than 200 thousand cubic meters of water, was inaugurated on 22 July. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mr. Fesehaye Haile, Governor of the Central Region; General Filipos Woldeyohannes, Chief of Staff of the Eritrean Defense Forces; as well as senior commanders of the Central Command and Popular Force. Eng. Abraham Daniel, head of agricultural infrastructure in the Central Region, stated that construction of the dam began in December 2023 and was completed in April 2025 with strong participation from the public and members of the Defense Forces. Commending the initiative as a lasting solution to the potable water supply problem of the residents, Mr. Omar Ibrahim, administrator of the area, expressed readiness to conduct regular follow-up for the sustainability of the dam. Noting that the project provided valuable hands-on experience, the Commander of the Defense Forces involved in the construction said it would significantly contribute to their future participation in similar national development projects. Mr. Fesehaye Haile, for his part, noted that in the past two years, new dams have been constructed in the administrative areas of Gul-i, Temameo, Adi-Qe, and Arbe Robu, and that the Dirfo dam is a continuation of the same initiative. Eritrea: Training on Hepatitis B Virus Vaccination
The Ministry of Health branch in the Southern Red Sea Region organized training on Hepatitis B vaccination for 70 members of its branch office. The training took place in the port city of Assab on 18 and 19 July. Dr. Ali Halo, head of the Ministry of Health branch in the region, stated that the training aimed to enhance understanding of the Hepatitis B vaccination program, which is set to be implemented nationwide. The meeting included extensive discussions on the upcoming vaccination campaign, which will be conducted in collaboration with various partners. Eritrea: Effort to Eradicate Underage Marriage
The National Union of Eritrean Women branch in the Gash Barka Region reported that, alongside efforts to improve the socio-economic standards of women, strong action is being taken to eradicate harmful practices, particularly underage marriage. The report was presented during an activity assessment meeting held on 19 and 20 July in Barentu. At the meeting, heads of the National Union of Eritrean Women in the sub-zones presented reports outlining achievements and challenges. The reports also highlighted efforts to create a conducive environment for women to improve their economic status through group and individual income-generating activities, including small-scale agriculture and trade. Ms. Yihdega Yohannes, head of the union branch in the region, stated that encouraging results have been achieved through collaboration with partners in organizing vocational training programs, enhancing women's economic capacity, and combating harmful practices. She also noted the union's efforts to ensure women's access to health and educational services, including in remote areas of the region. Students' Summer Work Program in Central Region
Coordinators of the students' summer work program in the Central Region reported that the 8,600 participants of the program, including 40% female students, are conducting commendable water and soil conservation activities. Mr. Efrem Teklu, head of the students' summer work program for development, indicated that since the program began on 7 July, approximately 14,000 terraces have been constructed, around 36,000 holes have been prepared for planting tree seedlings, and over 15,000 trees have been cultivated. He also stated that 95% of the program participants are engaged in water and soil conservation, while the remaining 5% are involved in traffic safety, documentation, and other activities.
