SIU invokes mandate after car crash in Lakeshore

On Monday just before 11 p.m., Essex OPP tried to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle that it said failed to stop. Not long later, the vehicle got into a collision on Lakeshore Road 235. The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No further details have been released as the SIU investigates, and the OPP continues investigating the initial traffic stop. Anyone with information surrounding the incident is asked to contact Essex County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.

Lakeshore man facing impaired charges after collision

Essex OPP have laid charges against a Lakeshore man after a collision in Lakeshore. Police said the incident took place on Thursday around 10 p.m. Officers were called to a collision on County Road 2. Following an investigation, a 39-year-old man was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and failure or refusal to comply with demand. The driver's license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

1 person dead in motorcycle, car crash north of Harrow

Social Sharing One person has died after a crash between a car and a motorcycle north of Harrow Monday morning. Essex OPP say first responders attended the crash on County Road 18 west of County Road 15 around 11:50 a.m. " The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The motorcyclist was transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased," police said in a statement. OPP traffic management teams are assisting in the investigation. County Road 18 is closed between County Road 15 and Rizzo Nicola Road, police said just after 5 p.m. Investigators are interested in speaking with anyone who saw the vehicles before the crash, or who witnessed or has dash camera footage of the crash. People can contact OPP or CrimeStoppers to remain anonymous.
