Rangers transfer latest as Mikey Moore could be first of THREE wingers to join club – and why he was compared to NEYMAR

RANGERS' quest to reach the Champions League ramps up a notch this week as they face Panathinaikos again. Alongside that, the quest to bolster the squad at Ibrox continues on as well! Advertisement 6 Russell Martin is busy adding to his squad Credit: Willie Vass 6 Mikey Moore is close to joining Rangers Credit: Getty 6 SunSport broke the news of the Gers' interest in Jesurun Rak-Sakyi Credit: Getty 6 One Rangers target has been compared to NEYMAR Credit: Getty Rangers are in Athens to take on Panathinaikos in the second leg of their second qualifying round encounter. Advertisement The Gers have a 2-0 lead from the first leg thanks to Findlay Curtis and Djeidi Gassama striking a couple of crackers last week. Russell Martin will, of course, be hoping to lead his team to the next around and he'll be hoping to call upon some new faces if he gets them there. The Light Blues are in the market for wingers and they're currently chasing THREE players in that position. The Gers boss will also be keen to move players OUT of his bloated squad - and there could be movement right around the corner. SunSport's sports content editor David Friel and reporter Andy Devlin - on location in Greece - have all the latest. Advertisement MIKEY MOORE Andy Devlin It's pretty close. I think the issue Rangers had in the last 48 hours was just convincing Spurs that Ibrox was the right place for him to go to. Spurs until eight hours ago weren't entirely sure whether they wanted the young lad to go out on loan anywhere, he's so highly rated. He's only 17, there will be a lot of expectation, a lot of pressure. Major Mikey Moore Rangers loan doubts & 'strange situation' at Celtic + transfer news Go Ballistic You just look at the testimonies about him, his ability, Ange Postecolgou rates him so highly. Advertisement There's been a lot of interest from Championship clubs in him as well but it's looking like Rangers are in the box seat to secure his signature which would be on a season long loan with no option to buy because the boy has an obvious future at Tottenham, it's another exciting signing for the Ranges support. The lad himself is wanting the move to Rangers. Championship wont give him European football, Rangers will do that. He's had some appearances last season for Spurs in run to the Europa League Final, 21 in total, so not as if he hasn't played first team football. He's used to that environment. He is one that despite his age, he will be ready to come in and play a part in the Rangers team. David Friel Advertisement It looks as if it'll be Rangers, he's a really interesting player, a special talent. As Andy says, you only have to see how much Ange Postecoglou admired him. After a game in Europe, James Maddison compared him to Neymar in terms of his dribbling skills. With certain players, their development comes at different times. I think Spurs feel his development is fast tracked to the extent there's no point in him coming on for five/ten minutes here and there every other Premier League game. They want him to play meaningful football, at a good level, under scrutiny and he'll get that at Rangers. Advertisement I get the risk - it's a first loan for him, he's a young player, sometimes it's eays ot burst onto the scene and make that impact. I wouldn't expect absolute miracles from Mikey Moore immediately but he can help Rangers and Rangers can help him. Russell Martin has a track record of working with young players. I think it's a good fit. 6 Oliver Antman is another Rangers target Credit: Getty OLIVER ANTMAN David Friel Advertisement He's got an interesting background, good experience, has been playing really well in Holland. He has taken a bit of a strange route, he's had a couple of knock-backs in his career, he's gone for moves, he's a product of Nordsjaelland system - Diomande, Nygren, they're really good at developing players. He went to Groningen on loan, he's come back and ended up going to Go Ahead Eagles for just over £1million which for Go Ahead Eagles is a lot of money, at that time I think he was one of their record signings. He's really done well, good experience with the Finnish national team as well. He's a player who I think would be a shrewd one, it'd be a permanent move as well. Advertisement If Rangers can get the balance between getting these loans in they can feel benefit the team but then getting the long-term signings that you want to build your team around for the next few years and that one ticks the box. JESURUN RAK-SAKYI David Friel I think it might be one Rangers need to be a bit patient with. Crystal Palace's stance, by all accounts, is that they are probably somewhere down the line open to a loan move for him but they would rather just sell him now. If the money being talked about - £10million - I can't really see Rangers sanctioning that for Rak-Sakyi. Advertisement I don't think any of the noises coming from Rangers is that they would entertain that or even try to go to that. I wonder if it's a bit of wait and see with Rak-Sakyi. Clearly Russell Martin has been talking about how much he admires him, he clearly wants him in. I don't think this is dependent on the other wings that we've spoken about - Gassama's in the door, they want Antman, they're very close to Mikey Moore - but I think it's just another winger that Russell Martin wants. Clearly he wants options. If you look at the modern game, the front three tends to change after an hour. Advertisement You basically use six forwards in every game and Rangers have got so many games. Rak-Sakyi is one Rangers have clearly targeted but they might need to be a bit patient with how it pans out and what other interest comes in. If Palace do get the permanent bid he'll probably go elsewhere but Rangers are clearly in the conversation and all the noises are that he'd be quite keen to come to Rangers, I think he's excited about what Russell Martin is doing. I'd never, ever rule that out. I think Rangers are right in the mix but it might depend on what other clubs go. Advertisement I think Russell Martin will look at the formation he plays, you would want four strong wingers. That's before we even talk about guys like Oscar Cortes who's still there. I think he's looking at it and being quite ambitious, for me. It might even end up being two loans - for Moore and Rak-Sakyi. 6 Advertisement KIERAN DOWELL David Friel I think there's a wait and see element with Rangers being successful being in that attacking area. I think Russell Martin's been quite clever in the sense that he's looked at the squad, looked at Dowell's experience and clearly knows the player, and he's thinking 'I'm going to need him for these qualifiers at the very least.' I think he's been quite clever to say to Kieran Dowell 'let's just see how things go, do as well as you can, I'm going to give you a pivotal role for these next few weeks, I really need you.' Long term, do I think Kieran Dowell is the answer for Rangers? Advertisement No, I think the last few years have probably just damaged his reputation with the fans because it's never really worked out. He'll always start on that negative point. He would probably say he's not had that many chances, or a prolonged run in the team. He's just got so much to prove and he'd have to play so well to win the fans over that long term I don't think he's going to be the answer. In the short term, Rangers probably need that experience. Advertisement CONOR COADY It's not looking likely but I would never say never on it. We spoke about moving parts, it's probably the same with what are Leicester going to do? It goes back to wages, the fee, all sorts of stuff. I'd never say never but the longer it goes on I wonder if Rangers really are starting to look elsewhere. Have YOU got a point for Kris Boyd? Ex-Rangers star John Lundstram ‘leaves Trabzonspor training camp to TERMINATE contract'

IT'S only a year since John Lundstram swapped Rangers for Trabzonspor. But it looks very much like he's moving on, again according to shock reports out of Turkey. 2 John Lundstram's time at Trabzonspor could be coming to an end Credit: Getty 2 Lundstram played for Rangers between 2021 and 2024 Credit: Willie Vass Lundstram, 31, spent three years with Rangers between 2021 and 2024. He established himself as a fans' favourite during his debut season as he helped inspire the Gers to the Europa League Final - scoring the goal that got them there by beating RB Leipzig. The midfielder moved on last summer at the end of his contract. Both Lundstram and teammate Borna Barisic were snapped-up by Turkish giants Trabzonspor. But it looks like his Turkish adventure could be over after just one season. That's because shock reports out of the country claim Lundstram is about to TERMINATE his contract. The former Sheffield United ace signed a three-year when he joined Trabzon last year. There had been previous murmurs that Lundstram's time with the club could be coming to an end. Turkish Super Lig clubs are only permitted to have a certain number of overseas players in their squads and Lundstram had been previously namechecked as one foreign player who could be moved on to make way for new recruits this summer. Now, several reports out of Turkey are claiming that Lundstram has left Trabzonspor's pre-season training camp - in order to TERMINATE his deal. Rangers transfer special assesses whether Conor Coady deal is OFF, if Hamza Igamane will leave and when the Gers can expect more incomings It's been reported by several outlets, including Karadeniz de Sonnokta and Fanatik, that Lundstram left the camp early before its conclusion on Sunday. It's been claimed further that he's doing so to bring his time at the club to an end in order to join Hull City. To join Hull, Lundstram would HAVE to be a free agent. That's because the English Championship club are currently under a signing embargo that does not allow them to pay a fee to sign any players. A contract termination would free up Lundstram to be able to join Hull. The Fanaktik report states that he left the camp in order to hold talks with the English club. Lundstram came through the youth ranks at Everton but failed to make a senior appearance for the Toffees. He had loan spells at six different clubs before joining Oxford United permanently in 2015. The midfielder moved on to Sheffield United two days later and proved a key player during the Blades' stint in the Premier League between 2019 and 2021. He then joined Rangers on a free transfer following United's relegation and headed for Turkey last summer. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Rangers 'emerge as favourites to sign record-breaking Tottenham wonderkid amid major transfer interest from England'

He made a huge impact in Europe last season as Spurs made it all the way to the Europa League Final and won it under Ange Postecoglou. Moore was an unused substitute as Spurs beat Man Utd 1-0 in that final. He scored his first senior goal in their 3-0 win over Elfsborg to round-off their league stage campaign. It was the last kick of the game but a historic moment. The goal saw Moore become the youngest-ever English goalscorer in a major European competition at 17 years and 172 days old. It broke a record that had stood since 1957 when Jimmy Greaves struck when he was also 17. Moore, who's been capped by England at under-19 level, had been expected to head out of Tottenham on loan this summer. Several English Championship clubs had been credited with an interest, including Birmingham and West Brom. Russell Martin opens up after he got sent off by John Beaton in pre-season friendly vs 'Boro But now, Rangers are in pole position to seal a deal for Moore, according to a report. The Daily Telegraph say that the Gers have 'emerged as favourites' to sign Moore on loan. The report adds that a switch to Ibrox is now seen as the most likely destination for the forward. Rangers have been on the hunt for reinforcements in the wide areas all summer long. They sealed a deal for Djeidi Gassama a couple of weeks ago and he went on to make a stunning impact by scoring on his debut against Panathinaikos. 4 But Gassama and a potential move for Moore might not be the end of business as far as signing wingers goes. Rangers are also reportedly interested in signing Oliver Antman from Go Ahead Eagles. The £5m-rated Finland international, 23, enjoyed a highly productive season in the Eredivisie last season and is attracting plenty of transfer interest. But reports claim the Dutch club are 'expecting' a bid from Rangers. The Gers head to Greece this week to face Panthinaikos in the second leg of that crucial Champions League qualifier. Goals from Findlay Curtis and Gassama see the Light Blues take a 2-0 lead to Athens with them. Have YOU got a point for Kris Boyd? Man Utd chief Omar Berrada gets transfer reality check after agreeing latest deal

Omar Berra left Manchester City to lead the rebuild of Manchester United but he and his colleagues are not having things all their own way in the transfer market Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada was hailed as the man who would bring back the glory years to Old Trafford when Sir Jim Ratcliffe lured him away from Manchester City last year. ‌ But the 47-year-old has discovered that if you don't enter the transfer market in a position of strength then football becomes a cruel business. ‌ Berrada has been working closely with director of football Jason Wilcox to recruit the kind of talent that manager Ruben Amorim is demanding after a nightmare first six months at the club ended with United finishing in their lowest league position for 50 years. ‌ Amorim will be delighted that by the time he touches down in Chicago at the start of United's pre-season tour of the United States, he will have Bryan Mbeumo to strengthen an attack that will also include the hugely talented Matheus Cunha. But Berrada has had to sanction a £70million outlay to secure Mbeumo - the price he was quoted two months ago when United had a £55million opening bid rejected immediately by Brentford for the Cameroon star. Cunha was secured for the £62.5million buy-out clause stipulated in his contract at Wolves. And United must pay the fee in three instalments over the next two years after the Molineux club dismissed a notion that the deal could be settled over an extended five-year period. ‌ This isn't the way that Berrada did business at the Etihad. When he worked alongside City sporting director Txiki Begiristain, the pair would often walk away from deals if the figures didn't add up. City refused to break their budget when Southampton were asking for a world-record £75million for Virgil van Dijk. ‌ While their stance backfired on that occasion, they did the same when it came to negotiations over players like Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire, Fred and Jorginho. The first three of those names ended up at Old Trafford. United's lack of joined-up thinking continued when Berrada arrived last summer. More than £200million was lavished on Levy Yoro, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs De Ligt, Joshua Zirkzee and Noussair Mazraoui - and in November the decision was taken to sack manager Erik ten Hag. ‌ Amorim was recruited from Sporting Lisbon on Berrada's insistence - despite the Portuguese's three-at-the-back philosophy being an awkward fit for the squad he inherited. With United more than £1billion in debt and facing issues complying with Profit and Sustainability Regulations, the club are unable to spend their way out of the mess that has been created by more than a decade of gross mismanagement. When Amorim's team lost to Spurs in the Europa League Final in May and missed out on Champions League qualification, the need to sell unwanted players to raise money became even more acute. ‌ Cashing in on Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia would have potentially raised hundreds of millions of pounds in normal circumstances. But Amorim's decision to group them in a so called bomb-squad, refusing to allow them to train with the players he wants to take into the new season and instructing them to report for fitness sessions late in the afternoon when the chosen ones have left the building at Carrington means interested clubs are playing a waiting game in the knowledge that United are being held to ransom by the policy. Berrada must find a way of breaking the deadlock - and quickly. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. Ruben Amorim staring host of expensive Man Utd problems in face with clock ticking ahead of new Premier League season

United are no better equipped than they were at the end of May NO MOR SOLVED Ruben Amorim staring host of expensive Man Utd problems in face with clock ticking ahead of new Premier League season Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) IT wasn't supposed to be like this for Manchester United. After the chaos of last season, things were meant to be better from the off. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Ruben Amorim's summer wishlist is nowhere close to being met Credit: Getty A transfer strategy aimed at getting rid of those Ruben Amorim did not want, and a squad replenished with signings hand-picked to meet the Portuguese manager's requirements. Yet as United prepare to start their pre-season campaign against Leeds in Stockholm on Saturday, it is hard for anyone to suggest this has been the smooth and decisive summer that Amorim had anticipated. Instead, just four weeks out from United's Prem opener against Arsenal, the Old Trafford outfit appear no better equipped than they were at the end of May. And, arguably, still facing all of the problems that confronted them then - with time running out. READ MORE MAN UTD NEWS DEVIL YOU KNOW How Man Utd may be biggest losers in Liverpool and Newcastle's Ekitike fight When Amorim and his players flew out to the Far East just hours after beating Aston Villa on the final day of last season - a win still overshadowed by the ramifications of their Europa League Final defeat by Spurs four days earlier - it came following a public apology from the manager. Amorim told the United faithful: 'I know you are really disappointed with me - and really disappointed with the team. 'Now we have to make a choice or stay stuck in the past. We fight each other or stick together and move forward. Join SUN CLUB for the Man Utd Files every Thursday plus in-depth coverage and exclusives from Old Trafford 'When I took over, I said to you the storm was coming. After this disaster season, I want to tell you the good days are coming. If there is one club in the world that can overcome any situation, it's our club.' That implied swift decisions. Quick action. Man Utd fans fume over ill-timed video and rage 'get a grip' None of which have taken place. Apart from the significant behind the scenes lay-offs and cost-cutting moves that were deeply unpopular. United did make one early strike, landing Wolves' Brazilian ace Matheus Cunha in a £62.5m deal. In addition, after more than a few moments of doubt, they held onto skipper Bruno Fernandes, who turned down the chance of a mega-bucks Saudi pay day. But they were rejected by both Liam Delap - whose decision to join Chelsea instead has already brought a Club World Cup winners medal - and Arsenal-bound Viktor Gyokeres. And while United made their pitch for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo more than a month ago, they have failed to get it over the line, with two bids, both short of the Bees' £70m valuation, rejected so far and seemingly little chance that the Cameroonian will be aboard when Amorim and his squad fly to Chicago on Tuesday. That would be bad enough. But Amorim's decision, backed by the United hierarchy, to segregate and isolate the five-player 'Bomb Squad' of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrrell Malacia, has added to the problems. While Fernandes staying as a boost for the squad, it was a problem for the balance sheet - United would have been able to bank the entire proposed £100m fee for their PSR calculations. United will be able to do the same with deals for Rashford and Garnacho but face accounting losses unless they can get significant fees for the others. And, knowing that - and the wages Rashford and Sancho in particular are on - means United are being low-balled when enquiries are made. It means more uncertainty hanging over the squad at the time when Amorim would have preferred certainty and calm. A situation not eased by the hamstring injury that threatens to rule Andre Onana out of the start of the Prem campaign - even if plenty of United fans would have wanted a new No 1 brought in. It was evident last season that Amorim did not have a squad that was designed to fit his 3-4-3 formation, too many square pegs battered into round holes, the club's worst season since they were relegated more than 50 years ago the natural consequence. Yet with the clock ticking, Amorim seems no better off than he did when he made those public apologies. No wonder the United fans are concerned.
