The Nerazzurri had already decided upon the 44-year-old to replace Simone Inzaghi a few days ago. On Thursday, Inter chose Chivu, concluding a search of a couple days. This search had seen them try for Cesc Fabregas, and also reportedly consider Patrick Vieira. However, in the end, Inter went with Treble-winning former defender Chivu. They called the Romanian, and he agreed to step up. Chivu spent six years as a Nerazzurri player before hanging up his boots. Chivu won the European Treble of the Serie A title, the Champions League, and the Coppa Italia with Inter in the 2009-10 season. Marotta continued that 'I believe modern football clubs must cultivate this connection.' 'Because within this character, there are a lot of positive values.' The Inter President insisted the club are 'satisfied and happy' with their choice to appoint Chivu. And as far as Inter's objectives next season as ever, Marotta said they're 'the same ones as ever.' Advertisement 'The history of Inter says this is the case. Inter participate in competitions to win. Then if someone's better than us, as happened last season, we'll take our hats off to them.' 'However, we have to remember that reaching the top isn't easy,' Marotta stressed. 'Not everyone has reached that far in recent years.'

Marko Arnautovic is proud to be at an 'enormous club' in Inter Milan, and of the 'dream come true' of the Serie A title and second star. The Austrian gave his thoughts in the matchday programme for today's Serie A clash with Hellas Verona. He also looked back on his relationship with former Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic. Marko Arnautovic rejoined Inter Milan in the summer of 2023. He arrived on a two-year deal from Bologna. Arnautovic had actually spent time as an Inter player before. The Austrian had been part of the Nerazzurri squad that won the European Treble of the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia, and the Champions League in the 2009-10 season. However, Arnautovic had been a bit part player at that time. Then, the Austrian established himself playing for clubs like Werder Bremen, Stoke City, and West Ham United. Then, in 2021, Arnautovic joined Bologna. And in his return to Serie A, he made quite an impact. This convinced Inter to bring the journeyman striker back for a second go. And this time around, Arnautovic has had much more of an impact than in his first tenure at the clun. Marko Arnautovic reflected that 'Wearing these colours means a lot to me, everything.' 'It's a shirt with a lot of weight. Because Inter are an enormous club.' 'But I'm proud to wear it,' declared Arnautovic. 'To be here with my teammates, and with everyone who works at this club.' 'It was an extraordinary moment,' the 36-year-old looked back. Then, Arnautovic talked about his relationship with his former Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic. 'Talking about him makes me really emotional,' the striker admitted. 'He was like a brother to me. He's someone who believed in me a lot, and gave me so much.'
