Michail Antonio shares footage as he learns to walk again after horrific crash

West Ham star Michail Antonio was involved in a horror car crash in December last year and has given a behind-the-scenes look at his gruelling recovery which involved learning how to walk again Michail Antonio has shared a video of his recovery from his horror car crash after vowing to return to football. The West Ham star was involved in an awful collision in December last year in Essex. His Ferrari was at the heart of a single-vehicle collision, leaving him with a broken leg. Antonio immediately underwent surgery for his shocking injury but was discharged from hospital three weeks later. ‌ Antonio, 35, has now taken to Instagram to give supporters a look at his gruelling recovery, alongside the caption: "Faith will overcome all challenges". The video which appeared on his official social media began with the wreckage of Antonio's car, while it also showed him in hospital immediately after the incident. ‌ Antonio then shared videos of him walking with a frame alongside doctors, as well as a clip of West Ham teammates visiting him in hospital. Other videos then show him at the Hammers' training ground on crutches, with the striker eventually gaining strength to walk unaided. The veteran is then pictured hard at work in West Ham's gym. The Jamaican international's emotional return to the London Stadium is also documented. The video then ends with Antonio training with a ball, as well as him being given a round of applause by his West Ham team-mates upon his return to team sessions. A number of his colleagues have replied to the update. Tomas Soucek replied with three heart emojis, while Vladimir Coufal wrote: "Respect brother". Ex-West Ham captain and current Arsenal star Declan Rice also replied as he wrote: "Monster." Antonio's latest update comes after he admitted he was close to being killed in the smash. "The most difficult part is that I almost wasn't there for my children," Antonio told the BBC's Morning Live. "It's just made me happy, positive about life, because I've got another chance at life. "During this, we kept it away from the kids. My eldest saw it, and he struggled with it. He's 13, and obviously people were showing photos of the car. So he came down and saw me in the hospital. But the younger ones, they never really knew how bad the situation was. We kind of avoided letting them get on the internet." ‌ He added: "It gave me a weird feeling in my stomach. It just made me realise how close I was to dying. I had seen the pictures but it was 10 times worse in person. The car was an absolute mess. It was difficult for me." Despite that, Antonio vowed to be back on the pitch. His West Ham contract comes to an end this summer. "Yes, 100 per cent. I will play again," he said. "It's the biggest injury I've ever had in my career. But the fact that I'm already two to three months ahead of where I should be, I know that I'll play again, and I know that once I'm playing the game I'll get the sharpness back. "People have always doubted me. My mental strength is something that I've always believed in and this is just another setback, and it is not going to stop me." Manuel Pellegrini dismisses Chelsea suggestion and makes pointed Antony claim

Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini has the task of stopping Chelsea in the final of the Conference League on Wednesday and has spoken about his own team's chances Manuel Pellegrini says big-spending Chelsea have got the bigger budget - but insisted they are not favourites to win the Europa Conference League. Real Betis boss Pellegrini has overcome huge financial pressures to reach the final and says his players and their determination means it is far from being a David versus Goliath battle. Ex-West Ham and Manchester City boss Pellegrini said: 'It's very easy for me to say that Chelsea are favourites. Their budget is a little bit more than ours. But I don't agree with that. ‌ 'I think that both teams have exactly the same chance to win the game tomorrow. 90 minutes in a game, everyone can win. It depends on the performance of the players. We have a player with a lot of experience also. ‌ 'We don't think that we are David and Goliath. We think we have exactly the same possibility to win the game. We are going to start from the first minute to try to do it. 'It doesn't matter how much one team spent or the other team. In 90 minutes on the pitch we will have exactly the same chance to win the game.' Pellegrini has overseen a remarkable turnaround in fortunes at Betis and one of his biggest successes has been the loan signing of Manchester United's £86m Brazilian outcast Antony. Antony has been outstanding during his loan spell and his performances have proved a point and got him back into the Brazil national squad and Pellegrini says the on-loan United star is driven by 'revenge.' Pellegrini said: 'I spoke with him before he came to Betis. He told me that he was not playing because he was not happy. But he has a lot of complaints about what he has done. He wants revenge. 'I think he did it the way we know he can do it. It is not easy for you to pay 100 million for a player. Antony is a very good player. I am absolutely sure that this is a huge time for him to continue improving his career.' ‌ Pellegrini dismissed the notion that Chelsea have a ready-made excuse that they played two days later than their Spanish rivals whose last game, a draw with Valencia, was last Friday. Pellegrini added: 'I think that in football you cannot give any advantage to your rival. Of course, they had a difficult game on Sunday. They must qualify for the Champions League. They did it, so I am very happy for him. 'But it will not be an excuse because you need to play three days after that game. During the whole season, you always have to play, especially when you play in the Champions League or European games, you have to play on Thursday, Sunday, Wednesday or Saturday. 'So I am absolutely sure that Chelsea will be recuperated and will be there on Sunday. Tomorrow will be a difficult team with one or two days less of rest.'

'Teams now have blueprint of how to beat Arsenal'

Former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast about Arsenal:"I watched when they played Nottingham Forest recently and they're brilliant between the boxes, but then it's the final pass or the final shot that's not good enough."I don't know any team, apart from Manchester City, who can win something without a natural number nine."Being an ex-striker myself, it does my head in. You need us! You're only as good as your centre forwards."Ex-West Ham and Aston Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker added: "All the teams now have a blueprint of how to beat Arsenal; be hard to break down, sit back and defend because they don't have that threat and the x-factor - which showed again on Sunday [against Manchester United at Old Trafford] - then you'll get results against Arsenal."That's what all the teams that have got results against them have done. They've sat, overloaded the midfield, you don't have to worry about the striker because they don't have one, they'll take unnecessary risks and they'll present opportunities for you."They're not scoring from set-pieces as much as well, which is starting to become a problem and evident."Listen on BBC Sounds
