Simon Cowell's doctor feared he'd never walk again after breaking his back

Britain's Got Talent judge and music mogul Simon Cowell reflected on the horror electric bicycle crash that left him with a broken back in 2020 Simon Cowell revealed his surgeon feared he would never walk again after the music mogul broke his back in three places following a crash. The Britain's Got Talent judge suffered a near-death experience and broke his back when he was thrown off his electric bike while testing it out at his home in Malibu, California. Afterwards, he was treated for a concussion and a broken arm as well as a broken back. The fall resulted in Cowell having a metal rod put into his spine, amid multiple procedures and operations. In a recent chat with Elizabeth Day on the How To Fail podcast, Simon opened up about the impact of the crash. ‌ He admitted he 'could have died' and his surgeon was concerned about whether they could 'fix' his back. ‌ Simon revealed: "He showed me the X-ray and he said 'Look, I'm not going to lie, Simon, I don't know if I can fix this, which means you probably won't walk and secondly, the operation could take 11 hours'. "They said the obvious - it could go wrong - and all I could think about was my family and everything. In that moment you kind of realise the most important thing is your health and don't do stupid things." The crash proved to be a 'wake-up call' about his life and he learned to stop taking huge risks in his life. "It was a wake-up moment, which is I'm crazy," he continued. "It kind of happened for a reason because I thought I was fit but then when I had to do all the physio after, just walking, they make you walk very quickly, I pretty much couldn't move and then I started to walk a lot and thought 'Oh God, I was in a really bad place'." Simon said he immediately realised he broke his back when he was thrown off the bike after it did a 'wheelie'. He added: "I shipped it in from England, couldn't wait to drive it. ‌ "I was in the driveway and my son was there and I pulled the throttle, it did the biggest wheelie and it threw me like 7-8ft in the air. I landed on my back and the second I landed I thought 'S**t, I know I've broken my back' because I could feel it." He was quick to check whether he could move his hands and feet, and when he realised he could, he thought 'that's not too bad'. Simon previously talked about his hobby after his second bike crash. Speaking to ex Terri Seymour on ExtraTV, he said: "My most creative time is now when I cycle, because I cycle even though it's an e-bike. I still got to pedal and I do about 10 miles a day, even though I had an accident on one. "That was more an electric motorbike, these are called pedal-assist bikes and they're brilliant. That expression 'get back on your bike', with me, it was literal. I feel better than I did because I exercise so much more. "Honestly, if I could rewind, I would have gone through the whole thing again. Just because I feel better now. Yeah, even though it hurt like hell at the time."

Pedro Pascal is everywhere. With three movies coming out this summer, expect to see more of ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu' star.

If it feels like Pedro Pascal is inescapable, that's because he is. But we shouldn't be surprised. Since earning the title of the 'internet's daddy' in 2023, thanks to his portrayal of brooding father figure Joel on the first season of The Last of Us, the actor has continued to mesmerize Hollywood. Now a beloved and bonafide A-lister, Pascal is booked and busy — and his recent press appearances and upcoming theatrical releases are proof. The latest development in Pascal's ever-growing slate of upcoming projects was revealed on Friday at the Star Wars Celebration. Pascal, who starred on Disney+'s Star Wars spinoff series The Mandalorian from 2019 to 2023, attended the event held in Tokyo. In front of more than 100,000 members of the Star Wars fandom, Pascal discussed the upcoming Lucasfilm release, The Mandalorian & Grogu, in which he stars alongside Sigourney Weaver. In addition to announcing the film's theatrical release date of May 22, 2026, Pascal and his collaborators teased a first look at the project, which will mark the first Star Wars theatrical release in seven years. The actor, while talking to Extra TV on Friday, called the upcoming flick 'one of the greatest adventure movies in the canon of all cinema.' New details about The Mandalorian & Grogu emerged just four days after the Season 2 premiere of HBO's hit drama The Last of Us, also starring Pascal, hit the streamer. The second season premiere drew 5.3 million viewers across platforms — a 13% increase from the series premiere in 2023. Fans can expect to see even more of Pascal this summer. With three theatrical releases scheduled between the months of June and July — Materialists, Eddington and The Fantastic Four: First Steps — that'll further demonstrate his range as an actor, Pascal won't be shedding his internet's daddy status anytime soon. In Materialists, the latest A24 film from writer-director Celine Song, Pascal portrays Henry Castillo, a wealthy businessman who takes an interest in Lucy (Dakota Johnson), a charming matchmaker who has a habit of putting her career ahead of her own personal life. Sparks fly between the two, but their burgeoning connection is soon made complicated after Lucy reconnects with her bartender ex-boyfriend John (Chris Evans). The result? A messy love triangle that could jeopardize her career. The romance film hits theaters on June 13. Pascal's performance as a successful, romantic businessman — as seen in the two-minute trailer released last month — has sent fans into a frenzy online. On the other side of the spectrum is the Western black comedy Eddington. Written and directed by filmmaker Ari Aster, the A24 film, which hits theaters on July 18, explores the rising tensions in a small American town amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. In the film, Pascal stars opposite Joaquin Phoenix as Ted Garcia, the town's coronavirus-conscious mayor who's running for reelection. A small-town standoff ensues when the local sheriff, Joe Cross (Phoenix), decides to run for mayor after he refuses to wear a face mask at a local grocery store. Austin Butler and Emma Stone also star in the film. Pascal will round out his summer of theatrical releases with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Coming to theaters on July 25, the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will feature Pascal as Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic. From director Matt Shakman, the film offers a fresh take on the legendary quartet as they defend Earth from the threats of Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm round out the team of superheroes. If all that weren't enough, the Game of Thrones alum starred in the viral AirPods 4 commercial directed by Spike Jonze, which debuted last month. Clocking in at five-and-a-half minutes, the short film titled Someday sees Pascal using Active Noise Cancellation on his AirPods 4 to cope with a recent breakup. Suddenly, his dreary reality is transformed into a colorful dreamscape as Pascal dances his way through the city. With more than 40 million views on YouTube, the short film has even spawned a TikTok dance trend, as people have flocked to the app to recreate Pascal's joyous dance number. That Pascal is primed to have one of his best years yet should come as no surprise. Having put in the work for the last three decades, he's due for a blockbuster summer.

Joshua Jackson Surprised His And Jodie Turner-Smith's Daughter With Her Dream 'Rainbow Room' After They Lost Their Home In The LA Wildfires, And It's So Moving

Back in January, Joshua Jackson revealed that he had sadly lost his home amid the Los Angeles fires. 'First and most importantly, all the people closest to me affected by the fire are OK. My daughter, my family, my neighbors all made it out safely,' said Joshua, who shares his 4-year-old girl, Juno Rose, with his ex-wife, Jodie Turner-Smith. Joshua has since revealed that he's in the process of rebuilding his home, telling Extra TV last month that he hopes to get it built soon enough that it's still his daughter's 'childhood home.' 'It's hard, and a lot of people are going through it. Everybody's going through it in their own way, but for me, there was no question of rebuilding, and I wanna build a place for me and my daughter quick enough that it will still be her childhood home,' he said. And Joshua is certainly sticking to his word, with the actor now unveiling the brand-new rainbow-themed bedroom he built for his little girl. Taking to Instagram this week, Joshua shared a video compilation featuring a bunch of photos of his daughter's new room, while detailing Juno's adorable requests for a 'rainbow room' with 'a blue sky roof' and lots of 'pink' in the caption. Joshua also went on to write, 'Last month I posted a story about our house burning down. First I want to say thank you to everyone who reached out and kept reaching out, it means so much during these times. I also wanted to put an update here, something a little more positive.' 'For months before the fire JR was on me to paint a rainbow room. I was working and I couldn't quite figure out where to do it and yadda yadda… I didn't do it. Which I now really regret,' he said. 'So what you are seeing here is the newly unveiled rainbow room (huge thanks to my landlords for not batting an eye when I asked them if I could paint their walls 'rainbow'). Because while I can't give her a new house (yet) we can certainly have some rainbows along the way,' he added. Needless to say, the room looks incredible:
