Official: Youssef El-Arabi Joins FC Nantes
Moroccan striker Youssef El-Arabi has completed a free transfer to French club FC Nantes. The 38-year-old has signed a two-year contract after a strong season with Cypriot side APOEL, where he scored 14 goals and registered seven assists in 45 matches during the 2024–25 campaign. El-Arabi returns to Ligue 1 for the first time since leaving SM Caen in 2011. He went on to play in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Spain—where he finished fifth in La Liga's scoring charts with Granada, netting 16 goals in 35 matches. In Qatar, he tallied an impressive 107 goals in 95 games with Al-Duhail and claimed two Golden Boots. Santi Aouna's social media post announcing the move sparked a wave of fan reactions. 'He is the best of North African and Gulf football as both teams vie for supremacy in the Cup of the Free,' one user wrote. Another added: 'I can guarantee 10–12 goals in the league—even at 38 years old.' FC Nantes hope his experience will bolster their frontline and support the development of younger talents.

FC Nantes signs Moroccan striker Youssef El Arabi
French professional football FC Nantes has secured its third signing of the summer transfer window with the arrival of 38-year-old Moroccan striker Youssef El Arabi. The former Morocco international (47 caps, 16 goals) is joining the club on a one-year deal after a stint with APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus, according to Ouest-France. El Arabi brings extensive experience, with 600 club appearances, 294 goals, and 69 assists across spells in France (Caen), Saudi Arabia (Al-Hilal), Spain (Granada), Qatar (Lekhwiya/Al-Duhail), Greece (Olympiacos), and Cyprus. He joins a summer recruitment wave that includes goalkeeper Alexis Mirbach, defender Uros Radakovic, and the return of Nicolas Cozza on loan. El Arabi is set to become the most experienced player at FC Nantes, and possibly in Ligue 1.

Chidozie Awaziem set for Nantes return
Chidozie Awaziem (28) is set to return to FC Nantes, according to L'Equipe. The Nigerian central defender will reportedly sign a three-year contract. Awaziem came through the FC Porto academy but failed to establish himself in the first team, making just 15 appearances for the Portuguese side. During his time at Porto, he was loaned to Nantes for the 2017–18 season, where he made 23 appearances for Les Canaris. Further loan spells followed in Turkey (Çaykur Rizespor) and Spain (CD Leganés), before he moved permanently to Boavista F.C. in September 2020. Advertisement After just one season at the Portuguese club, Awaziem went out on loan again – first to Alanyaspor in September 2021, then to Hajduk Split for the 2022–23 campaign. He returned to Boavista for the 2023–24 season, followed by short stints with FC Cincinnati and Colorado Rapids in the MLS. Jean-Charles Castelletto close to leaving Nantes for Al-Wakrah
Jean-Charles Castelletto (30) is close to a departure from FC Nantes this summer, with two clubs in Middle Eastern clubs interested in taking the Cameroon international from the North of France, as per information from L'Équipe. Qatar's Al-Wakrah are reportedly in pole position with talks centring around a €3.5m transfer fee, and a four-year contract for the centre-back. However, the UAE-based Al Jazira are also interested in securing Castelletto's services. During this time, the centre-back became a Coupe de France winner, helping Nantes to the title in the 2021/22 season. Born in the Parisian suburbs, the centre-back began his career in France playing in the AJ Auxerre youth system before making his full debut for the club in 2013 during a Ligue 2 fixture against Gazélec Ajaccio. Nantes youth prospect Dehmaine Tabibou to extend contract until 2030
FC Nantes youth prospect Dehmaine Tabibou (20) will extend his contract, according to L'Equipe. Tabibou's current deal expires in June 2026, with L'Equipe reporting that the new contract will run until 2030. Tabibou broke into the Nantes first team in the 2024-5 campaign. He made 12 Ligue 1 appearances and featured once in the Coupe de France. Although he has yet to make his first senior start for Nantes, Tabibou is regarded as central to club's future. As reported by Ouest France, Tabibou — alongside Louis Leroux and Herba Guirassy — is considered one of the key young talents the club hopes to build around. Since making his international U20 debut in September 2024, Tabibou has scored four goals in ten games.
