NFL Fans Aren't Happy With FOX's Replacement For Jimmy Johnson
NFL Fans Aren't Happy With FOX's Replacement For Jimmy Johnson originally appeared on The Spun. After decades as one of the hosts of the FOX NFL Sunday pregame show, Hall of Fame head coach Jimmy Johnson announced his departure from the network at the end of last season. His replacement has already been announced, but people are not thrilled. Ahead of the 2025 season, FOX Sports announced that four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski will be filling Johnson's seat. He has already worked with the network on many NFL media projects before, so it's not a surprise that they're giving him the job. Gronkowski is arguably the most well-known tight end in the entire world. He's been featured in just about every form of media ranging from commercials to television shows to professional wrestling. That said, Gronkowski isn't exactly Greg Olsen when it comes to the X's and O's. He knows his football, of course, but has a pretty sizable portion of fans who are just plain tired of him. Reaction News of Gronkowski being added to the FOX NFL Sunday desk has led to a ton of negative reactions on social media. Whether it's fatigue from the network continuously adding members of the New England Patriots dynasty to their ranks (like Tom Brady and Julian Edelman) or just fatigue over seeing Gronk himself, people are making their voices heard: "Is it me or anyone else who doesn't like hearing this dude talk?" one user remarked. "Gronk is just not good at talking ball I'm sorry he's funny when that's what matters but sometimes you gotta actually be able to break shit down," wrote another. "Gronk does not belong on an analyst desk. Idk why this is being forced," a third wrote. "Biggest downgrade in broadcasting history." "Horrible decision. If Captain Obvious and General Cliche had a baby, that'd be Gronk." "As a Pats fan I LOVE Gronk but he belongs nowhere near a microphone. He's awful." Many fans also believe that the network's continued employment of NFL legend Terry Bradshaw has also been making the show harder to watch: "Terry Bradshaw needs to call it a career too." "They gotta get rid of Bradshaw and Gronk is awful." "Why the hell don't they make Terry Bradshaw retire? It's definitely time." Do you think FOX made the right decision here? Rob Gronkowski nails his colors to the mast as he makes FOX NFL position clear
Rob Gronkowski has shut down any speculation about him returning to the NFL in a coaching role, stating that his stint on FOX NFL Sunday is "just the right amount" of football. The former New England Patriots sensation spoke about his post-retirement plans as the NFL Draft continues. The four-time Super Bowl champion, known for his record-setting tenure alongside Tom Brady with both the Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has traded in playing for punditry in recent years. These days, Gronk can be spotted sharing insights with the likes of Terry Bradshaw , Michael Strahan, and sometimes Brady himself on FOX NFL Sunday . Despite this, fans have been curious whether he's feeling the pull to return to the sideline. As the announcement broke earlier this year that former Patriots teammate Mike Vrabel was taking over as New England's head coach, and Brady securing minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, discussions around Gronk's potential NFL return began. Gronk is a regular on FOX (Image:) However, he's made it crystal clear that his current gig at FOX suits him just fine, and he hasn't been bitten by the coaching bug. Speaking to TMZ, the 35-year-old said: "Hey, you just hit it right on the nose. My life is just way too good right now, I'm just not made for that coaching life. I've seen what they go through. "It's one of the most stressful jobs I would say, you know, in America, it really is. I'm not down to coach 12 hours a day you know. "I love the game of football but you know, you got to pick and choose what's right with the game of football for you. And what I did with the game of football, where I'm at now, as well as doing the FOX commentary on Sundays, I think I'm involved in football just the right amount. Rob Gronkowski is an NFL legend in his own right (Image:) "But coaching just, I wouldn't say is really for me in the NFL or college world." Gronk did admit that he could see himself coaching for a high school team someday, especially once kids are in the picture - but football doesn't need to be the sport. He added: "I can see myself one day like - I see my brothers coaching their kids...I can see myself coaching like one day when I have kids in my life, like coaching their teams, their football. "Even high school, I would be down for high school as well but I'm down to, not just football, just coaching them in any sport."

Steelers legend, 'FOX NFL Sunday' co-host Terry Bradshaw helps with jammed airplane door
Terry Bradshaw was part of a unique flight experience last week. On a flight going from Dallas-Fort Worth to Pittsburgh — where Bradshaw helped the Pittsburgh Steelers win four of their six Super Bowls — the door to open the plane was stuck and couldn't be opened at Pittsburgh International Airport. Fortunately for everybody on the plane, the Pro Football Hall of Famer and cohost of "FOX NFL Sunday" was able to help get the door open after roughly a half-hour, according to CBS Pittsburgh. "The pilot announced, and you could kind of hear he was chuckling as he said it, but he said, 'Thanks to the strength of one of our passengers, we were finally able to get the door open' and so I think we all knew he was alluding to Mr. Bradshaw," Selah Gamble, a passenger on the flight, told CBS Pittsburgh. Bradshaw was flying to Pittsburgh for a roast of former teammate Mel Blount, who was also part of four Steelers' Super Bowl teams. All that said, Bradshaw downplayed his role in helping open the door, posting to Instagram, "Just to set the record straight … I did nothing to open the door on the plane! The maintenance crew had it open in 15 min." Bradshaw, who spent his entire 14-year NFL career in Pittsburgh (1970-83), is second in Steelers history with both 27,989 passing yards and 212 passing touchdowns. Of course, the 1978 NFL MVP, two-time Super Bowl MVP and three-time Pro Bowler went on to be a staple of FOX Sports' Sunday NFL coverage, having been on the set of "FOX NFL Sunday" since the first show in 1994. As for the show's future, former head coach and two-time Super Bowl champion Jimmy Johnson announced his retirement from broadcasting after the 2024 season. Johnson was on the set from 1994-95 and 2002-24. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox?
