Police arrest trio after man slashed in jealousy-fuelled attack

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested three men in connection with the assault and slashing of a 47-year-old man at an apartment in Taman Puchong Intan yesterday morning. Subang Jaya deputy police chief Superintendent Mohd Fairus Jaafar said the trio had prior criminal records and admitted to being involved in the case. "All suspects have been arrested, and a remand application will be made at the Shah Alam court tomorrow for further investigation," he said in a statement today. Yesterday, Fairus said police received a distress call from a woman at 2.15am, reporting that her partner had been attacked by her ex-husband and two other men. Fairus said the motive for the attack is believed to be jealousy and domestic issues. The ex-husband and two male friends allegedly went to the residence and attacked the victim with a knife and an iron rod, causing multiple injuries to his head and body. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons. If convicted, the suspects face up to 20 years in prison, a fine, or whipping.

SUBANG JAYA: A 47-year-old man sustained serious injuries after he was allegedly assaulted and slashed by three men, including the ex-husband of his partner, at an apartment in Taman Puchong Intan this morning. Subang Jaya deputy police chief Superintendent Mohd Fairus Jaafar said police received a distress call from a woman at 2.15am saying that her partner was attacked by her ex-husband and two other men. "Preliminary investigations found that the victim has been living with the former wife of one of the suspects at the residence." The ex-husband and two male friends allegedly arrived at the residence and attacked the victim using a knife and an iron rod, inflicting multiple injuries to the head and body. "All three suspects have been identified, aged between 30 and 40." Fairus said the victim was taken to Sultan Idris Shah Hospital and was in stable condition. "The motive of the attack is believed to be jealousy and domestic issues. "Efforts to locate and arrest the suspects are ongoing." The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using dangerous weapons. If convicted, the suspects face up to 20 years in prison, a fine or whipping. PETALING JAYA: A seven-year-old girl died yesterday after falling from the 29th floor of a condominium in Puchong, Subang Jaya. Subang Jaya deputy police chief Fairus Jaafar said officers were dispatched promptly after receiving a distress call at around 12.30pm. 'Investigations found the victim lying face-up on the fifth floor of the building after falling from the babysitter's home,' he said in a statement today. Fairus said further investigations found no criminal elements involved. 'The victim's mother was taking care of another child who was under home quarantine, and the father was at work during the incident. 'Preliminary findings indicate that the victim climbed out of the window, which had no safety grills installed,' he said. Advertisement A medical officer at the scene confirmed the girl's death. Police have also recorded a statement from the caregiver for further investigation. KUALA LUMPUR: A seven-year-old girl died after falling from the 29th floor to the fifth floor of a condominium in Subang Jaya yesterday. Subang Jaya deputy police chief Superintendent Mohd Fairus Jaafar said a team was deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call via the MERS 999 helpline at about noon. "Upon arrival, the victim was found lying face down on the fifth floor of the building. "A medical officer at the scene confirmed that the victim had died," he said in a statement today. Fairus said preliminary investigations indicated no foul play in the tragic incident. He said the victim's mother was at home caring for another child who was under quarantine, while the father was at work. Investigations showed that the victim had climbed out of a window that was not fitted with a safety grille. The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect or exposure of a child to danger, which carries a penalty of up to RM50,000, 20 years' imprisonment, or both, upon conviction. He added that investigation papers will be completed and submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.
