Dakota Johnson roasts herself for wearing 'the wrong outfit' on Jimmy Fallon
Dakota Johnson called herself out on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' last night. Sitting beside host Jimmy Fallon on June 2 to talk about her new film, 'Materialists,' the actor, 35, looked down at her dress and gasped, blurting out, 'Oh, God.' After checking in to make sure she was all right, Fallon told Johnson she looked 'fantastic,' to which she responded, 'This was the wrong outfit.' The camera then panned to show Johnson's short black dress with a plunging neckline, which she accompanied with black opaque tights. The two suddenly froze, laughing, looking at one another until Fallon told a joke: 'Just don't move.' 'My eyes are up here,' she quipped, causing an outburst of laugher from the live studio audience. As The Roots, Fallon's on-set band, played off Johnson's joke with some percussion, Fallon looked up at the sky and said, 'I can't even look there. I don't know what to do. Now, I'm confused.' As Fallon attempted to start the interview, asking the actor about the last time they saw one another in 30 Rock for the ' SNL' 50th anniversary special, Johnson sat motionless due to her outfit, attempting to hold back laughter. Throughout the interview, Johnson continued fixing the neckline of her dress, at one point instructing Fallon, 'Tell me if there's a problem.' 'At this point, there's not a problem,' he responded, then paused before adding, 'There's almost a problem. But not, not quite.' 'I'll keep my posture real good,' she joked, sitting up straight and requesting a blanket to drape over herself. Fallon then went behind his desk and pulled out a tissue to give to her. Johnson then situated the tissue inside the dress so her chest was completely covered. After Fallon suggested she shouldn't 'ruin' her outfit, Johnson removed the tissue and the interview continued — with casual dress adjustments and acknowledgements by the actor. At the end of their conversation, Fallon told Johnson that her dad, Don Johnson, gifted him a cardigan sweater, which he subsequently pulled out from behind the desk. When Fallon suggested Johnson 'borrow' the sweater, she gave him a hard time, saying he probably just didn't like the cardigan for himself.

While stopping by the late night show to promote her upcoming film Materialists, Johnson pointed out her low cut dress may not have been the best option for the interview, telling Fallon that it was the "wrong dress." In response, Fallon said he thought the dress was "perfect" but suggested that Johnson "not move" in order to prevent any accidental spillage. It wasn't long before things got a little awkward though and Johnson had to remind the host where here eyes were! "My eyes are up here!" Johnson joked, while Fallon looked towards the ceiling and admitted that he couldn't meet her gaze — and didn't know where he should look. Fallon tried to get the interview back on track but things were derailed once again when Johnson got concerned that she might be a little too exposed. "Tell me if there's a problem," Johnson pleaded. "Keep my posture real good. Does anyone have, like, a blanket I could wear?" While Fallon tried to reassure her that there was "not quite a problem" yet and everything was still going "according to plan," he did offer her a tiny handkerchief to attempt to cover up her chest. "That's perfect! No one will even notice the difference. You look great...[but] I don't want to ruin your outfit. You look gorgeous," Fallon said. After Johnson removed the handkerchief, Fallon joked that he was listing it on eBay as soon as he got home — although there's no listing on the auction website just yet! In the end, Fallon presented Johnson with a cardigan that her father Don Johnson had gifted him. A visibly relieved Johnson used it to cover up for the next few moments — but by the end of the interview, she had ditched her cover up. Actor Dakota Johnson turned an awkward fashion moment into a light-hearted exchange during her appearance on 'The Tonight Show' with Jimmy Fallon on Monday night, June 3. Appearing on the NBC late-night show, Johnson quickly confessed she had second thoughts about her outfit. 'This is the wrong outfit,' she said with a nervous smile. Fallon tried to reassure her, replying, 'I think it's perfect, just don't move,' prompting Johnson to quip, 'My eyes are up here.' '[I'll] keep my posture real good,' she quipped. Then she asked a moment later, 'Does anyone have, like, a blanket I could wear?' Fallon offered her some tissues, joking, 'No one will even know the difference.' She put them in her neckline, and it almost looked like they were part of the look: She ultimately removed them. Later in the chat, Fallon gave her a sweater to wear. The first place she put it was over her cleavage to cover it up again. Johnson didn't actually have any wardrobe malfunctions during the interview, but she did cause a little trouble with Fallon doing prank phone calls. The host first brought up Johnson being prank-called by Billie Eilish on ELLE's Phoning It In series. Johnson defended her earnest response to Eilish's prank, saying 'I was trying to be a good friend...I love Billie so much.' 'Everything is going according to plan.' She wore it briefly before regaining her composure and carrying on. This isn't Johnson's first brush with live-TV wardrobe hiccups. Last year, she held up her dress for the entirety of a 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' interview after a strap broke mid-show.
