Paddy Power troll Man United fans with offer to 'escape the season from hell' with a trip abroad - after Red Devils fell to Europa League final defeat by Tottenham

Paddy Power have trolled Man United fans by offering them to 'escape the season from hell' in the wake of their Europa League final defeat on Wednesday night. Ruben Amorim's Red Devils fell to defeat against Tottenham in their clash at the Estadio de San Mames - after Brennan Johnson's scrappy goal in the first-half. It was a disappointing evening for United, who many had expected to triumph over Ange Postecoglou 's struggling Spurs in the showpiece event. The defeat rounded off a dismal campaign for United - though there remains one final league fixture - having failed to win silverware and fallen to 16th in the league table. As a result, United have fallen victim to online trolls and among them are bookmakers Paddy Power who produced a hilarious video offering a trip to the Faroe Islands. In a post on X, Paddy Power wrote: 'Beaten by Spurs, 16th in the table and Liverpool are Champions. Beaten by Spurs, 16th in the table and Liverpool are Champions. 'Prize includes: All expenses paid trip to remote Faroe Islands. Accommodation with no TV and Internet'. In an accompanying video, the bookmakers showed the journey a Man United fan going to the Faroe Islands in order to escape the hounding of Liverpool supporters. However, in the final scene, the Red Devils fan is greeted by a rival when he arrives at the top of a hill upon the island. A Paddy Power spokesperson said: 'Watching Man United's season unfold has been a tough watch for all the fans, especially with Liverpool's instant success under Arne Slot. 'After seeing their final glimmer of hope disappear last night, we thought it's only right to give someone the chance to get away from it all and forget about football for a while.' One lucky winner will be flown to Trollanes - a rugged outpost in the Faroe Islands. To enter the competition, users must simply like, comment on, or repost any Paddy Power social media post related to the Escape Man Utd video. Paddy Power revealed the conditions of the trip in a recent post onto social media Meanwhile, a glum-looking Man United squad were spotted leaving their Bilbao hotel on Thursday morning following their Europa League final loss the night before. United boss Amorim looked downbeat as he lead his side out of the hotel and wheeled his suitcase alongside him, past fans and photographers. The Portuguese coach did manage to offer a wink at the camera as he walked past. The likes of Mason Mount, Harry Maguire and Andre Onana were also seen leaving the hotel and heading onto the team bus as they mulled over their defeat.

When the Light Breaks review: Emotionally astute drama is a bonsai miniature of overwhelming grief

When the Light Breaks      Director : Rúnar Rúnarsson Cert : 15A Genre : Drama Starring : Elín Hall, Mikael Kaaber, Katla Njálsdóttir, Ágúst Wigum, Gunnar Hrafn Kristjánsson, Baldur Einarsson Running Time : 1 hr 21 mins Una (Elín Hall) and Diddi (Baldur Einarsson) are cool kids and lovers attending art school in Reykjavík, Iceland. He's tall and good-looking; she's an elfin variation on Annie Lennox's androgynous 1980s years. They have dreams. He wants to visit Japan; the well-travelled Una will settle for the Faroe Islands. As day dawns he promises to break up with his long-distance girlfriend and childhood sweetheart, Klara (Katla Njálsdóttir). Except he never gets there. En route he falls victim to a dramatic and fatal tunnel explosion. Icelandic flags are later flown at half-mast, an image that gives the same sorrowful quality that WH Auden's Funeral Blues once brought to Four Weddings and a Funeral. Rúnar Rúnarsson condenses the funeral experience into a single day in this emotionally astute drama, a much-admired contender at Cannes in 2024. Composed of small gestures and unspoken truths, it's a bonsai miniature of the vastness of overwhelming grief. READ MORE A numb, grieving Una watches as various friends and comrades console Klara (Katla Njálsdóttir). They hug the 'official' girlfriend and characterise Diddi and Klara as the perfect couple. More poignantly, the sincere, plain-speaking Klara embraces Una as a sister. Diddi's bandmate and roommate, Gunni (Mikael Kaaber), is aware of Una's predicament but cautions Una not to reveal her clandestine romance. Instead the two bereaved women form an uneasy bond of pain, not exactly shared, but similarly lonely. Hall is a revelation, her blank features signalling multitudes as she tries to get through the day. Her youthful companions rage against suburban motorists, drink shots and dance their way through an unanticipated mourning period. Sophia Olsson's cinematography finds poetry whether she's shooting seedy-looking bars or the majestic Hallgrímskirkja church. The late Jóhann Jóhannsson's mournful score complements the film's elegant restraint. In cinemas from Friday, May 23rd
