Camille Prats says she initially didn't want to do viral sword fight scene in 'Mommy Dearest'

Camille Prats and Katrina Halili's sword fight in 'Mommy Dearest" went viral on the internet, but Camille admitted that she was initially hesitant to do the scene. In Tuesday's episode of 'Fast Talk With Boy Abunda,' the Kapuso actress shared that she did not want to do it because she did not understand the need for it. 'I said it, why do we need to do this scene? I feel like hindi naman siya kailangan talaga sa away namin,' Camille shared. However, she added that the production team explained to them that the scene was an effort to make viewers talk about 'Mommy Dearest." 'They explained to me na it's an effort talaga, 'yung scene na 'yon is really created para mapag-usapan siya,' Camille said . 'Kasi ako gusto ko magkaroon ng parang anong pinanggagalingan ko in my character for me to do this. I also want to take into consideration as an audience. How will the audience take this?' According to Camille, she reflected on her character Olive's internal turmoil to do the scene. 'Tapos parang na-realize ko na lang na siguro si Olive naman sa sobrang cuckoo 'di ba? She will do whatever. Mukhang wala naman siyang aatrasan talaga, so let's do it,' she said, adding that they had to ask some of the production staff to leave so they could avoid laughing while doing the scene. She playfully shared that due to the sword fight scene, some people have taken to calling her Olive-Wan Kenobi, a reference to the 'Star Wars' character Obi-Wan Kenobi. The viral sword fight not only had netizens in stitches but Ryza Cenon as well, who posted a hilarious reaction to the scene. 'Mommy Dearest' follows the life of Mookie (Shayne Sava) who tries to navigate life despite her serious illnesses since childhood. However, her overprotective mother, Olive (Camille), refrains her from going out and discovering the world, making Mookie seem like a prisoner in their own home. Aside from Camille, Katrina and Shayne, the series also stars Winwyn Marquez, Dion Ignacio, and Amy Austria, among others. 'Mommy Dearest' airs weekdays at 3:20 p.m. on GMA Afternoon Prime. —Jade Veronique Yap/CDC, GMA Integrated News

Ara Mina explains the reason behind her different screen names

Before Ara Mina became a household name, there was a time when she used four different screen names. Born Hazel Pascual Reyes, the award-winning actress shared the reason behind her screen name in "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda" on Monday. According to Ara, her screen name was derived from her sister Cristine Reyes' first name and their other sister. "Inintroduce ako sa 'That's Entertainment,' Ara Mina 'yung name ko. And 'yung Ara Mina, 'yon iyong name ni Cristine [which is] Ara Cristine and Mina name ng isa kong sister Mina Princess," Ara shared, adding that it was her mom who chose that screen name for her. After using the screen name Ara Mina for some time, she changed it to Ara Mina-Reyes for the 1995 movie "Si Mario at Si Goko." "Nilagyan naman ng Mommy ko ng Reyes kasi parang ang dating daw kasi ng Ara Mina is parang first name lang. Parang walang apelyido, parang Ara Mina, Carmina ganoon. So nilagyan niya ng Reyes," she said. The third screen name she used was Dara Mina, and according to Ara it was because of Donna Cruz. "Ang story po diyan ay 'Nako, sikat na sikat sila Donna Cruz, sikat na sikat sila ganyan.' 'Yung mga initials ng mga sikat, so parang lagyan natin ng ano, gawin nating ano, alisin na natin 'yung Reyes, masyado raw mahaba," she recalled. "So ginawa niya [mom] para ano, Dara Mina doon sa pelikulang 'Flor Contemplacion," Ara added. The fourth screen name she had was Danica Gomez, which she used at the height of Charlene Gonzales' popularity. "Sumikat si Charlene Gonzalez, so 'yung G, may letter G si Gonzalez. Sabi ni mommy, 'Nako masyadong maikli ang Dara. Gawin nating Danica. Tapos sikat sila ano Richard Gomez, gawin nating Gomez," she said. Despite using different screen names, people knew her as Ara Mina, which ultimately led her to officially use the name. In 2021, Ara Mina got married to Philippine International Trading Corporation (PITC) President and CEO Dave Almarinez. —Jade Veronique Yap/MGP, GMA Integrated News

Filipino 'Anak' singer Freddie Aguilar died of multiple organ failure

Freddie Aguilar (pic) died of multiple organ failure at the Philippine Heart Center, according to his ex-partner, Josephine Quiepo. The cause of Aguilar's death was announced on the May 27 episode of Fast Talk With Boy Abunda with the mainstay host citing Quiepo. "According to Josie, Ka Freddie died of multiple organ failure at the Philippine Heart Center last night. On May 20, Ka Freddie asked for prayers on his Facebook page, but he didn't detail his condition," said Abunda. Aguilar's death was earlier confirmed by lawyer George Briones of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) on Tuesday. The singer, who died at 72 years old, previously served as the national executive vice president of the political party. Aguilar's final partner, Jovie Albao, penned a farewell message to the singer following his death. She took to her Facebook account to share a photo of her and Aguilar engaged in an embrace as she promised to lead a good life so they can reunite in heaven. 'I will live a good life so I can meet you in Jannah (Heaven). Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (to Allah we belong and to Allah we shall return). This is not goodbye, just farewell for now. Mahal na mahal kita, hanggang sa muli bhabe (I love you so much. Until we meet again, babe). It was a good fight, because we are fighting together,' she wrote. The remains of the singer were buried less than 24 hours after following the Islamic burial rites. In 2013, when he was 60, Aguilar converted to Islam so he could marry Albao, who was then 16 years old. Their relationship drew criticism and concern especially from the youth sector. Known for his songs Anak and Bayan Ko, Aguilar established his identity as a folk singer-songwriter by blending elements of Manila sound, folk, and rock in his music. He is also known for letting his long locks loose, which are often held in place by a fedora hat, as well as his clear sunglasses during performances. – Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network

Kara David dubbed as 'Queen of Potential Sound' by netizens

Kara David has now stamped her place in the Philippine internet's hall of fame with the netizens calling her the "Queen of Potential Sound." The moniker was coined by several social media users, who got inspired by her reactions and witty dialogues on TikTok. On Monday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," the award-winning broadcast journalist said that she didn't know that her candid dialogues would turn into memes. "When I started TikTok—I just wanted a venue where I can teach and at the same time show some behind the scenes when I shoot 'Pinas Sarap' and 'I-Witness.' Walang intention whatsoever to be viral," she told GMA News Online through a text message. "Honestly, nagugulat pa rin ako na 'yung isang Gen X na Tita tulad ko ay puwede pa rin palang maging relevant sa TikTok na very Gen Z," she added. Kara proved once again why she's the Queen of Potential Sound as she hilariously described the taste of a suman made from kamoteng kahoy—and yes, it was as witty as ever! "I-Witness" airs on GMA Network every Saturday at 10:15 p.m. after "Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko." Meanwhile, "Pinas Sarap" airs every Saturday on GTV at 8:15 p.m. after G! Flicks. —Jade Veronique Yap/MGP, GMA Integrated News
