WWE NXT Results 29 July: Ethan Page Retains North American Title, Hulk Hogan Honoured
Last Updated: Page managed to pip Santino Marella in the headline fixture of the episode to hold on to his title on a day the NXT paid tribute to the legendary Hulk Hogan. The latest episode of WWE NXT encompassed a swathe of action-packed bouts, including a NXT North American Championship fight between holder Ethan Page and the iconic Santino Marella. The show began with a tribute to the legendary Hulk Hogan, who was honoured with a 10-bell salute. Jaida Parker vs Jazmyn Nyx with Fatal Influence The opening bout of the day featured Parker and Nyx, who was flanked by the Fatal Influence duo of Jacy Jayne and Fallon Heley. Nyx dominated large portions of the fight, and at one point looked like the win was hers for the taking; however, Parker demonstrated resilience to hit back to turn the tide of proceedings as she finished her opponent off with a signature Hipnotic. Charlie Dempsey vs Tavion Heights Wren Sinclair was in both their corners as Dempsey and Heights put up one of the most eye-catching show on the day in a bout that could have gone either way. Despite trading blow-for-blow Heights managed to eke out the win over Dempsey in dramatic fashion as he pinned his opponent following a belly-to-belly slam after Dempey had kicked out after a piledriver. It was Fallon Henley's turn to enter the ring with Lash her stipulated opponent on the day as the other members of Fatal Influence, Jayne and Nyx supported her from ringside. The matchup ultimately swung the way of Henley thanks to an intereference from Nia Jax, who took out Lash to set Henley up for a triumphant finish. Je'Von Evans vs Wes Lee In a matchup full of twists and turns, Evans had to dig deep to pip out Lee, who was flanked by The High Ryze at the bout in arguably the longest running fixture of the evening. Ethan Page vs Santino Marella NXT North American Championship holder Page managed to successfully defend his crown against the seasoned Marella in the spotlight fixture of the day. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. WWE legend makes bold Blake Monroe prediction after NXT arrival
Blake Monroe made her WWE debut earlier this month for the NXT brand as the company continued its tear of free-agent signings, shaking up the pro wrestling landscape. Monroe, who was formerly known as Mariah May, made a name for herself in Stardom and was a women's champion at All Elite Wrestling and ended her time there after an epic feud with Toni Storm. Now, she has her sights on NXT women's champion Jacy Jayne and the rest of the Fatal Influence faction, hoping to add another accolade to her already impressive resume. Pro wrestling legend Bubba Ray Dudley told Fox News Digital in a recent interview that Monroe maximized her potential in her previous role and that coming to WWE was the right move. "Blake Monroe has caught my eye, caught my intention over the last couple of years, for the body of work she was involved with in another company," he said. "She did a phenomenal job and maxed out her potential there. I don't think Blake Monroe could have gotten better at where she was, I don't think there was enough talent that was better than her for her to work up to. "I don't know if there was enough minds that could have worked with Blake Monroe to have her be the sports entertainer she could be. I didn't use the word pro wrestler I used sports entertainer because when you look at Blake Monroe's body of work the last couple of years its more sports entertainer than pro wrestler to me and at the end of the day it's world wrestling entertainment." Dudley expressed optimism that Monroe would be a "big star" in WWE moving forward. "So, I think Blake Monroe coming into NXT was a very smart move on her behalf, working with all this new talent I believe working with Shawn Michaels and working with all the talented creative people he has under him and the producers," he said. "Blake is truly going to shine in the system. And I think she will go on and be a big star in the WWE." Monroe had her "contract signing" on NXT this past Tuesday and told the audience that her "dream" was to always come to WWE – something she has posted about on social media continuously as she began her pro wrestling journey. It is unclear when her first official match will be, but Jayne gave Monroe her welcome to NXT moment when she put Monroe through a table.
