Sabrina Carpenter's Breakout Single Has Been Demoted

Sabrina Carpenter's 'Taste' passes 'Feather' to become her second-longest-charting Hot 100 hit, with ... More three of her top songs now from Short n' Sweet. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 30: (Exclusive Coverage) Sabrina Carpenter performs onstage during the Sabrina Carpenter Short n' Sweet Tour at Barclays Center on September 30, 2024 in New York City. (Photo byfor AEG) Before releasing her album Short n' Sweet, Sabrina Carpenter had already scored a breakout hit on the Hot 100 with "Feather." Taken from her previous full-length Emails I Can't Send, the track helped her rise to a new high point on the Hot 100, and it remained on the tally for months. While that composition may have set the stage for her takeover in the United States, it has now been demoted in her discography. "Taste" was pushed as the third official single from Short n' Sweet last August. Coming up on a year later, the track is still present inside the top 40 on the Hot 100, as it dips slightly from No. 38 to No. 40. As "Taste" holds on, it reaches 38 weeks on the list — a special number for Carpenter. The track now ties with "Please Please Please" as her second-longest-running Hot 100 hit. As the Short n' Sweet focus track remains on the roster, it breaks its tie with "Feather," which spent 37 frames on the Hot 100. Carpenter's sturdiest win on the Hot 100 remains "Espresso" by a wide margin. That track is still going strong and stands out as the Grammy winner's highest-charting success at the moment. It slips slightly to No. 21 in its fifty-seventh frame on the chart, which ranks the most consumed songs in the U.S. As "Taste" earns another stay on the Hot 100 and breaks its match with "Feather," that means that Carpenter's three longest-running Hot 100 hits now all come from Short n' Sweet. "Espresso," "Please Please Please," and "Taste" have each spent time inside the top three on the chart and were selected as singles. The fourth focus cut from the standard edition, "Bed Chem," is no longer present on the Hot 100. It ranks as her fifth-longest-charting success, with 32 weeks on the tally, coming in just behind "Feather" by about a month. There's a good chance that "Taste" will remain on the Hot 100 when Billboard refreshes its charts in a few days. If it can hold on, it will pass "Please Please Please" and become Carpenter's second-longest-running tune on the list. It does seem unlikely that it will be able to match "Espresso,' though — especially considering the fact that the singer's biggest win is still outperforming all of her other cuts.

Sabrina Carpenter ‘Sent for a Loop' Over NSFW Edits of Fortnite Avatar: ‘Very Weird to Know'

Sabrina Carpenter has had a huge year as chart-topping pop star and also became one of the faces of Fortnite, earning her the coveted status of an in-game skin, but a source exclusively tells Life & Style the 'Please Please Please' singers' digital honor has quickly descended into a nightmare as reprobate fans began creating explicit memes, animation and content using her avatar. 'They are putting her avatar in freaky positions, it's not good,' the insider reveals. 'She's already coming under fire for being too sexy. The last thing she needs is to have teenagers using her avatar in a sexual way.' The digitized in-game version of Sabrina, 25, was added to the massively popular game in April 2024 as part of a larger Fortnite Festival event that also saw skins of Billie Eilish and The Weeknd made available. They joined the company of other A-list singers, like Travis Scott, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, to be featured in the same way. The 'Espresso' singer's addition to the game was noted as a huge milestone as her red-hot career takes off. 'It's also very weird to know people are doing this with a cartoon of her,' the insider explains. 'People around her are saying that this shouldn't be allowed to happen, but there's really no way to stop it.' Sabrina has long faced criticism and backlash for the overt sexuality in her music and performances, a fact that the source notes is making the disturbing fan art and manipulated game footage from Fortnite all the more stressful of a situation to deal with. Embodying the confidence and look of a 1950s pin-up girl on tour and coming out with steamy music videos like 'Feather,' Sabrina has always pushed back against the notion that embracing her femininity is something to be ashamed of, but that doesn't mean others won't see a sexually open woman as threatening and an easy target. 'My message has always been clear — if you can't handle a girl who is confident in her own sexuality, then don't come to my shows,' she told The Sun in response to criticism of her dancing while on tour. 'Female artists have been shamed forever. In the noughties it was Rihanna, in the nineties it was Britney Spears, in the eighties it was Madonna — and now it's me.' 'I've always felt really empowered by being a woman in pop,' Sabrina explained to Rolling Stone in an interview published in June 2024. 'But that doesn't mean it's easy.' 'She just has to try and ignore it until it blows over because there's no recourse,' the source adds. 'Sabrina's been in the business for most of her life, so she's seen a lot when it comes to fans, but this is something that she has never experienced and it's really sent her for a loop.' 'Her team has been rallying around her and promising to help shut this down,' the insider adds, 'but it still remains to be seen if there's anything they can do about it because this isn't as simple as getting the game to fix a glitch.'

Who else is on the Blue Origin space trip with Katy Perry?

Pop star Katy Perry has expressed her excitement about joining an all-female crew for a landmark space flight. The "Roar" singer will be part of the six-woman team on Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin New Shepard NS-31 mission, spearheaded by journalist Lauren Sanchez. The crew includes prominent figures such as CBS Mornings presenter Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, astronaut and activist Amanda Nguyen, and movie producer Kerianne Flynn. Sanchez personally selected the team for this brief but significant journey. Scheduled to launch from West Texas at 2.30pm BST (8.30am local time) on Monday, the flight is anticipated to last approximately 11 minutes. The New Shepard rocket will cross the Kármán line, the internationally recognised boundary of space, situated 62 miles (100km) above Earth. On the eve of the launch, Perry wrote on Instagram: 'I've dreamt of going to space for 15 years and tomorrow that dream becomes a reality. 'I am so honoured to be alongside five other incredible and inspiring women as we become the first ever all-female flight space crew!' Alongside the post, she shared a video of the capsule that she has been 'training in for the last few days', and revealed her call name is Feather. She also said she plans to 'sing in space', and explained where all her other 'astronaut girly friends' will sit in the spacecraft. Perry added: 'I do believe this (is happening) because believing your dreams and saying that is actually how you make your dreams come true.' In another video, the Roar singer said she is 'always looking for little confirmations from the heavens, from my guides, from my angels, from my higher self'. 'When I'm looking for it, it's pretty loud,' she added. During space training, Perry said she had noticed two unexpected coincidences linked to nicknames her mother calls her. She said: 'When I was invited to come on this voyage, I looked up at the capsule. On the very front of it is the outline in the shape of a feather, and when I saw that it was like a total confirmation because my mom has always called me Feather. 'And so I'm in space training today and there's a lot to digest. We're almost finished with the day and they showed us the capsule and we run simulations in another capsule and tested the noise and what to expect and all these different things and they reveal the capsule name. 'The capsule's name is Tortoise. A wave, just the most energetic wave, just shot through my body. And I was like 'What? This capsule's name is Tortoise?' 'My mom calls me two nicknames – Feather and Tortoise. What are the chances that I'm going to space on a rocket in a capsule with my symbol, the feather, called Tortoise?' She added: 'There are no coincidences and I'm just so grateful for these confirmations and so grateful that I feel like something bigger than me is steering the ship.' It will be the 11th human flight for the Blue Origin programme, which has taken passengers including Amazon chief executive Mr Bezos to space since 2021. Sanchez, who rose to fame as a showbusiness journalist on US TV shows, said the mission is about inspiring others to 'dream big', and praised the women on board as 'incredible storytellers'. The pilot has written a children's book about astronauts called The Fly Who Flew to Space. Flynn has produced This Changes Everything (2018), which explores the history of women in Hollywood, and Lilly (2024), about the late employment activist Lilly Ledbetter. Nguyen has advocated for those who have experienced sexual harassment and been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. King is also known for her work on Oprah Daily, and as host of Gayle King In The House on SiriusXM radio.

Katy Perry's 'confirmations from the heavens' ahead of space jaunt

Katy Perry has received "confirmations from the heavens" ahead of her trip into space. The 'Teenage Dream' singer will be part of an all-female crew - which also includes presenters Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez - when she blasts off on the next launch of Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin rocket on Monday (14.04.25). Katy, 40, believes "something bigger" will be steering the ship after she discovered the outline of the capsule is "in the shape of a feather", and its name is Tortoise - and her mother calls her Tortoise and Feather as affectionate nicknames. She said in an Instagram video: "You know that I'm always looking for little confirmations from the heavens, from my guides, from the angels, from my higher self. "You know when I ask for it and I am open to it, it's pretty loud. "So when I was invited to come on this voyage, I looked up at the capsule, and the capsule, on the very front of it, is the outline in the shape of a feather. "And when I saw that it was like a total confirmation, because my mom has always called me Feather. "There's a lot to digest and we're almost finished for the day and they show us the capsule, we've run simulations in a different capsule. "And they reveal the name of the capsule and the capsule's name is Tortoise. "A wave - just the most energetic wave just shot through my body and I was like 'What, this capsule's name is Tortoise?' "My mom calls me two nicknames: Feather and Tortoise. What are the chances that I'm going to space on a rocket in a capsule with my symbol the feather called Tortoise? "And my mom calls me Tortoise. I will screenshot my mom's text messages when she calls me Tortoise. "There are no coincidences and I'm just so grateful for these confirmations and so grateful that I feel like something bigger than me is steering the ship." Katy wrote in the caption: "Today's reminder that there is something bigger than me guiding my journey. Love, Feather/Tortoise (sic)" The Blue Origin flight, part of the New Shepherd programme, will launch in the West Texas high desert. Gayle recently admitted she is "terrified and excited" to be taking part. Speaking on 'CBS Mornings', she said: "I'm so afraid. But I'm also so excited about it. I don't know how to explain being terrified and excited at the same time. It's like how I felt about to deliver a baby."
