Cristiano Ronaldo renews Al Nassr deal till 2027

Taking to X, Ronaldo posted, "A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let's make history together." Cristiano Ronaldo renews Al Nassr deal till 2027. The superstar footballer signed with the Club in 2022 after the World Cup that year, leaving Manchester United to become a free agent. His deal was for two and a half years. Across all competitions for the club, he has netted 93 goals in 105 matches. The deal made him the highest-paid athlete worldwide and he has been topping this list for last three years, as per Forbes. At the age of 40, Ronaldo's total earnings are estimated to be around $275 million. Showing no signs of ageing and decline, he led Portugal to the UEFA Nations League title earlier this month, defeating Spain in the final. With 932 goals scored already, he is also aiming to reach 1,000 goals. On club level, he has 794 goals while for Portugal, he has found the net 138 times. Even though Ronaldo has won the Arab Club Champions Cup with Al Nassr, he is yet to win the SPL title, as the team finished runners-up in 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons and third in 2024-25 season. The club's sporting director Fernando Hierro said back in May that it was keen to have the superstar sign a new deal and also suggested they had some competition from other clubs to gain the veteran's services once again. His words came after Ronaldo had hinted that the season's finale at Al-Fateh was his last appearance for the club.

Cristiano Ronaldo extends contract with Al Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed a new two-year contract with Al Nassr which will run until 2027. A short video posted on the club's social media accounts to announce Ronaldo's deal shows the forward walking on the beach and finishes with him saying: 'Al Nassr forever.' Ronaldo's previous deal with the Saudi Pro League (SPL) club was set to expire on June 30 but The Athletic reported in May that negotiations had taken place over a new contract for the 40-year-old. القصـة تستمـر مع قائد النصر التاريخي …#النصر_إلى_الابد 💛 — نادي النصر السعودي (@AlNassrFC) June 26, 2025 The Portugal captain, who won his third trophy with his country in early June when he helped them to the Nations League title, has said he was courted by clubs competing at this summer's Club World Cup, while Al Nassr's sporting director Fernando Hierro claimed they could face competition to keep hold of the superstar this summer. Advertisement Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in December 2022 after having had his contract terminated at Manchester United, and won the SPL Golden Boot this past season with 25 goals. The Portugal forward has scored 93 goals in 105 appearances and won the Arab Club Champions Cup with Al Nassr, but the Saudi league title and Asian Championship League have eluded the club since his arrival. Ronaldo played down speculation about his future in early June, claiming 'practically nothing is going to change' and, when prompted over whether he was staying with Al Nassr, replying: 'Yes.' Saudi Arabia has invested significantly in football in recent years, most notably in 2022 with Al Nassr one of four domestic clubs that were taken over by the nation's Public Investment Fund (PIF) alongside Al Ahli, Al Hilal and Al Ittihad. Ronaldo was the first high-profile Europe-based player to move to the Middle East nation following that investment before being joined by a host of others including Karim Benzema, Neymar and N'Golo Kante. Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 FIFA World Cup after an uncontested bidding process for the tournament. Ronaldo began his career at Sporting CP before starring at Manchester United, where he scored 118 goals across six seasons, winning three Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008. The forward won the first of five Ballon d'Or titles for the best men's player of a calendar year in 2008, before joining Real Madrid in 2009 — where he became the club's all-time record goal scorer with 450 goals in 438 appearances, winning 15 trophies including four Champions League titles. He went on to score 101 goals across three seasons at Italian club Juventus, winning two Serie A titles, before returning to United in 2021 and joining Al Nassr 16 months later. Ronaldo is the record goal scorer in international football with 138 goals in 221 caps for Portugal. ()

Ronaldo does not plan to play at Club World Cup

(AP pic) MUNICH : Al-Nassr and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo said today he did not plan to play at the Club World Cup in the US, despite being courted by clubs participating in the expanded 32-team tournament. Speculation over the 40-year-old's future intensified last month when Fifa president Gianni Infantino said discussions were underway about Ronaldo playing in the Club World Cup, despite Al-Nassr failing to qualify. Al-Nassr's sporting director Fernando Hierro said last month they were negotiating with Ronaldo over a contract extension but faced competition from a host of clubs eager to sign the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. Ronaldo himself added to the uncertainty after Al-Nassr's season-ending match at Al-Fateh, posting on social media: 'This chapter is over. The story? Still being written.' Asked about the possibility of signing for another club in the coming days in order to play at the Club World Cup later this month, Ronaldo told reporters: 'It's irrelevant, at the moment it doesn't make sense to talk about things other than the national team. 'There has been plenty of contact (from clubs), I see things that make sense, others that don't. You can't go to all of them (clubs), you have to think short, medium and long term. 'It's something that's practically decided on my part, which is not to go to the Club World Cup, but I've had plenty of invitations.' On Wednesday, Ronaldo scored the winner as Portugal beat Germany 2-1 to go into the Nations League final, where they will face Spain. Many have labelled Monday's final as a face-off between Ronaldo and 17-year-old Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal but the Portuguese forward said he did not see it as such. 'It's always been like that, whenever I've played football, whenever I've played a big game it's always been Cristiano against this one, against that one,' he said. 'It's been 20-something years and it's still the same, it doesn't keep me up at night anymore, it's a normal thing. They're completely different generations, a generation that's starting out, another that's finishing, which is my case. 'In reality it's not like that, it's a team against a team. It will always be like that… What I want most is for Portugal to be at a good level, confident that things can go well, that we can play a great game and win against a very good team, possibly the best in the world.'

Cristiano Ronaldo will not play at Club World Cup despite ‘plenty of invitations'

Cristiano Ronaldo has said he does not plan to play at the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States, despite being courted by clubs participating in the expanded 32-team tournament. Speculation over the Portugal forward's future intensified last month when the Fifa president, Gianni Infantino, said discussions were under way about Ronaldo potentially playing in the Club World Cup, despite his club side, Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr, failing to qualify. Asked about the possibility of signing for another club in order to play at the Club World Cup later this month, Ronaldo told reporters: 'It's irrelevant, at the moment it doesn't make sense to talk about things other than the national team.' 'There has been plenty of contact [from clubs], I see things that make sense, others that don't. You can't go to all of them, you have to think short, medium and long term. It's something that's practically decided on my part, which is not to go to the Club World Cup, but I've had plenty of invitations.' Al-Nassr's sporting director, Fernando Hierro, said last month they were negotiating with Ronaldo over a contract extension but faced competition from clubs eager to sign the five-times Ballon d'Or winner. Ronaldo himself added to the uncertainty, posting on social media: 'This chapter is over. The story? Still being written.' Ronaldo was addressing the media before the Nations League final, where Portugal will face neighbours Spain. The 40-year-old scored the winner as Portugal beat Germany 2-1 in the semi-final at Munich's Allianz Arena – also the venue for the final. The Portugal captain played down suggestions that Sunday's final is a face-off between himself and the 17-year-old Barcelona sensation, Lamine Yamal. 'It's always been like that, whenever I've played football, whenever I've played a big game it's always been Cristiano against this one, against that one,' he said. 'It's been 20-something years and it's still the same, it doesn't keep me up at night anymore, it's a normal thing,' he continued. '[We] are completely different generations, a generation that's starting out, another that's finishing, which is my case. 'In reality it's not like that, it's a team against a team. It will always be like that. What I want most is for Portugal to be at a good level, confident that things can go well, that we can play a great game and win against a very good team, possibly the best in the world.' Kylian Mbappé has insisted he was happy to see his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, win the Champions League for the first time after his departure last summer. PSG thrashed Inter 5-0 in Munich last week to lift the trophy, 12 months after Mbappé left on a free transfer in acrimonious circumstances. The France forward moved to the then-European champions, Real Madrid, who were knocked out of this year's tournament by Arsenal in the quarter-finals. 'I was happy, they deserved it, they've been through so many problems, I've been through that too. I've been through every stage of the Champions League except winning it,' Mbappé told reporters on Saturday. 'They were the best team in Europe. I can't remember ever seeing them go 5-0 up. It's 100% deserved, they're becoming the team everyone wants to beat.' Speaking before France's Nations League third-place playoff against Germany in Stuttgart on Sunday, Mbappé also backed compatriot Ousmane Dembélé to win the Ballon d'Or award this year, ahead of Spain and Barcelona's Lamine Yamal. 'Would I vote for Dembélé? Yes. Is there really any need to explain?... I'm going for Dembélé. It's very clear,' Mbappé added. Mbappé scored 43 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid, winning the European golden shoe award, but his team failed to win a major trophy, beaten by Barcelona in the title race and Copa del Rey final. The 26-year-old has also been involved in a legal dispute with PSG over €55m in wages that he claims the club have not paid him. The France forward claimed there were no hard feelings over his departure, and PSG's European success without him. 'PSG won the Champions League without me, that doesn't affect me. That's a good thing. I think we all face challenges in our careers,' Mbappé said. 'I'm a bit more in the eye of the storm, which is good. I've always liked being in these positions, it's up to me to work,' he added. 'I've reversed quite a few trends in my career, I've had a lot of things stuck on my back and I've managed to get them off. 'Did I leave too soon? No, my story was over, it had to end,' Mbappé concluded. 'There was no bitterness, I'd reached the end of my tether.'
