UFC's Erin Blanchfield rips Maycee Barber after opponent pulls out of fight over reported medical issue
Erin Blanchfield was set to fight Maycee Barber in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas over the weekend, but the bout was canceled moments before the bell was set to ring. Barber, who competes in the women's flyweight division, hadn't fought since March 2024 because of an illness that she said led to a near-two-week hospital stay. Barber missed weight on Friday by a half pound and was already set to give up 20% of her purse to Blanchfield, according to ESPN. Things took another strange twist Saturday night. Blanchfield said in the post-UFC Fight Night press conference that UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell told her Barber suffered a seizure minutes before she was set to walk to the Octagon, according to MMA Junkie. ESPN broadcasters said Barber suffered a medical issue. "I feel like I'm still in pretty much disbelief right now," Blanchfield added, via MMA Junkie. "I feel like I was in disbelief yesterday when she missed weight because we knew about this fight since January. You could've been 50 pounds overweight and still missed weight. "So, she missed weight, then she gets to Saturday. She gets to the locker room. I'm fully ready to go. She's supposed to be ready to go. Supposedly now she has all these health issues right when we're supposed to fight. I think it's pretty crazy. I think it's pretty unprofessional. I wouldn't want to fight her again." Barber posted and re-shared videos on her Instagram page hyping up her return to the Octagon. But she did not address any alleged medical issues on social media. Fox News Digital reached out to the UFC for comment. Blanchfield was asked if she had advice for Barber. "I don't know, she needs to look at another division," she said. "She needs to fix her life. She just needs to fix herself. I think she's a complete mess in every aspect of her entire life." Blanchfield is 13-2 in her MMA career. She defeated Rose Namajunas in November via unanimous decision. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Rayanne dos Santos vs. Alice Ardelean prediction, odds, pick for UFC Vegas 107
The post Rayanne dos Santos vs. Alice Ardelean prediction, odds, pick for UFC Vegas 107 appeared first on ClutchPoints. The UFC returns to The Apex in Las Vegas as we're set to kick off another Fight Night card, beginning in the Women's Strawweight (115) Division. Fresh prospects will meet as Brazil's Rayanne dos Santos will take on Alice Ardelean of Romania. Check the UFC odds series for our dos Santos-Ardelean prediction and pick. Advertisement Rayanne dos Santos (14-8) is still searching for her first win on the UFC stage with an 0-2 record. Both losses came by split decision against Talita Alencar and Puja Tomar, so she's hoping for a much more definitive result as the moderate betting favorite in this one. Dos Santos stands 5-foot-2 with a 62-inch reach. Alice Ardelean (9-7) will also search for her first UFC win with an 0-2 record throughout 2024. She lost a razor-thin split decision to Shauna Bannon during her debut and lost a following unanimous decision against Melissa Martinez. She'll look to surprise as the underdog here. Ardelean stands 5-foot-3 with a 62-inch reach. Here are the UFC Vegas 107 Odds, courtesy of DraftKings. UFC Vegas 107 Odds: Rayanne dos Santos-Alice Ardelean Odds Rayanne dos Santos: -265 Advertisement Alice Ardelean: +215 Over 2.5 rounds: -475 Under 2.5 rounds: +325 *Watch sports LIVE with fuboTV (Get Access | Save $30)* Why Rayanne dos Santos Will Win Last Fight: (L) Puja Tomar – S DEC Last 5: 3-2 Finishes: 2 KO/TKO, 8 SUB Rayanne dos Santos came extremely close in both of her losses in the UFC and could easily be fighting with an opposite 2-0 record had she done just a few things differently. She's very skilled on the ground and is constantly improving her skills by entering in grappling competitions. With eight wins by submission, seven of them have come by way of armbar as she'll be a major threat to finish this fight from her back. Rayanne dos Santos will be looking for more striking output during this fight as she fell behind on the numbers in her previous two bouts. She's landing 4.36 significant strikes per minute but absorbing 5.2, so she'll need to be a bit more defensive and pick her shots carefully. Advertisement Finally, dos Santos will have to greatly improve her takedowns if she wants to have success on the ground. She's logging just 12% accuracy on her takedown attempts through her first two fights, so she'll need to work on wrestling transitions in order to get the fight where it needs to be. Still, look for an improved version with a greater sense of urgency during this fight. Why Alice Ardelean Will Win Last Fight: (L) Melissa Martinez – U DEC Last 5: 3-2 Finishes: 4 KO/TKO, 4 SUB Alice Ardelean has had a similar journey through her first two UFC appearances, coming up just short in the striking numbers and failing to create significant moments during the bouts. She rode a seven-fight winning streak prior to entering the UFC, so she's certainly confident in her skills against a wide array of competition. Getting over the UFC hump will be her biggest focus as no fight will be an easy one from here on out. Alice Ardelean is much more accurate and active with her striking than dos Santos, able to find her rhythm quickly and settle into a groove. Once she finds the range, she stays consistent with her lead jab, and with a 100% takedown defense thus far, she won't be at too much risk of getting taken down during this fight. Two of her pro losses have come by submission, however, and she'll have to be much more diligent in protecting herself there throughout this one. Advertisement While Alice Ardelean is listed as the betting underdog, this fight is certainly up for grabs if she's able to get out ahead in the striking numbers. From there, she should be able to control the pace of this fight and log damage slowly but surely. Final Rayanne dos Santos-Alice Ardelean Prediction & Pick Both women are searching for their first UFC win and have a ton of potential if they're able to bring their skills together in a seamless manner. Rayanne dos Santos is much more dangerous on the ground, but is still struggling to get opponents down with her wrestling. Alice Ardelean has shown flashes of a solid base, but she'll need to do a better job of asserting herself as the aggressor during this one. Ultimately, the betting odds should be much closer as both fighters have left a lot to be desired from their previous performances. Still, I expect dos Santos to make the greater improvements and have more ways to win this fight, but it's just a matter of her finding success within her offense. Advertisement For our final betting prediction, we'll roll with the favorite in Rayanne dos Santos to win this fight by decision. She's been the more consistent prospect through her initial action, and we'll take a chance on her despite the juiced betting odds. Final Rayanne dos Santos-Alice Ardelean Prediction & Pick: Rayanne dos Santos (-265)

UFC Fight Night 107 predictions: Full card picks for prelims and main card
Gambling content 21+. The New York Post may receive an affiliate commission if you sign up through our links. Read our editorial standards for more information. An appetizer the week before the main course. The UFC returns to its UFC Apex warehouse this weekend for an average Fight Night event, one week ahead of a loaded card at UFC 316 in Newark. Saturday's card won't be one you remember for years to come in terms of entertainment value, as it's not the highest level card we've seen, but perhaps you will look back on it as one that made you big money. With 11 fights on the schedule and six of them projected to end inside the distance, according to the oddsmakers, we should have another fun night in front of us. Here are my UFC Fight Night Vegas 107 predictions: The entire card is getting primetime treatment this weekend as it begins at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Erin Blanchfield preparing for her flyweight bout against Manon Fiorot at the UFC Fight Night event in Atlantic City, New Jersey Zuffa LLC via Getty Images Erin Blanchfield vs. Maycee Barber Elmwood Park, N.J.'s own Blanchfield has a chance to earn a flyweight title shot with a win Saturday. The pressure-oriented fighter is always down to strike with her opponent, even if the path of least resistance might be grappling. Barber was once a top prospect, winning her first four fights in the UFC before dropping two straight. All hope felt like it had been lost for Barber's chances of becoming a title challenger, but six straight wins have changed her outlook. Somewhat surprisingly, Barber is just a +180 underdog on Saturday. This is a tough spot for the highly athletic flyweight who can't really defend takedowns at a high level. Her offensive grappling is strong, but she stuffs takedowns at only a 53 percent rate. Andrea Lee took her down five times in 2022. I suspect Blanchfield gets it done here, and a submission is, of course, possible given Barber's struggles stopping takedowns. For that reason, I have built a same-game-parlay on DraftKings that accounts for submissions. Blanchfield to win by decision is -115, but I'd prefer to play it this way: Pick: Blanchfield moneyline + fight starts Round 3 (-160, DraftKings). Mateusz Gamrot of Poland prepares to face Dan Hooker of New Zealand in a lightweight fight during the UFC 305 event at RAC Arena on August 18, 2024 in Perth, Australia. Zuffa LLC Mateusz Gamrot vs. Ludovit Klein It's been a while since we've seen Gamrot, who was once firmly in the lightweight title picture. He is a takedown machine who boasts wins over title challenger Arman Tsarukyan as well as striker Rafael Fiziev. Gamrot's only losses are against Beneil Dariush and Dan Hooker, two hard-nosed, top-tier strikers. While Klein is a solid fighter who has used his striking to win big, it's not my favorite spot to bet on him this weekend. He shockingly defeated Ignacio Bahamondes in 2023, but he has struggled in other spots, notably against Jai Herbert, who has a rough 3-5-1 record, and he has a loss to Michael Trizano, who has since parted ways with the promotion. I expect Gamrot will win by decision here as long as he doesn't fall in love with his below-average striking and takes the path that gives him the best chance at victory. Pick: Gamrot by decision (+102, BetRivers). Get the lowdown on the Best USA Sports Betting Sites and Apps UFC Vegas 107 full card picks for prelims and main cards Blanchfield moneyline + fight starts Round 3 (-160, DraftKings). Gamrot by decision (+102, BetRivers). Billy Ray Goff vs. Ramiz Brahimaj: Goff by decision (+235, BetRivers). Dustin Jacoby vs. Bruno Lopes: Jacoby moneyline + fight starts Round 2 (-115, FanDuel). Ketlen Vieira vs. Macy Chiasson: Chiasson moneyline (-120, Fanatics Sportsbook) Zachary Reese vs. Duško Todorovic: Reese ML (-230, DraftKings). Jafel Filho vs. Allan Nascimento: Pass. Kurt Holobaugh vs. Jordan Leavitt: Holobaugh by decision (+500, DraftKings). Trevin Giles vs. Andreas Gustafsson: Gustafsson by KO/TKO (+185, FanDuel). Bolaji Oki vs. Michael Aswell: Pass. Aswell Jr. taking fight on extremely short notice; unclear what kind of shape he is in. Rayanne dos Santos vs. Alice Ardelean: dos Santos by decision (-125, BetMGM).
