McDonald's truck rolled out for fast-food loving Donald Trump on state visit
A White House official confirmed the mobile truck - which had the McDonald's logo and writing in Arabic - was in Riyadh, during the president's state visit to Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia appeared to woo Donald Trump with one of his favourite cuisines - American fast food. A McDonald's food truck was unbelievably spotted on the US President's trip to the Gulf nation this week. Saudi Arabia rolled out the mobile and operation truck as part of it's lavish display for Trump's first state visit of his second term. A White House official confirmed the mobile truck - which had the McDonald's logo and writing in Arabic - was in Riyadh, during the President's visit. Images of the bizarre truck and Saudi effort to make the President feel right at home went viral on social media across the globe. Trump has made his love of fast food and burgers no secret and his declarations of love for deep fried food has appeared to pay off while abroad. The President was met with a glamorous state banquet and a grand procession through Riyadh but this truck has appeared to catch people's eyes. Shocked people blasted the special McDonald's appearance with one person on X saying "how's this even real life?" According to local reports, the unit was set up near the Saudi Royal Court. Trump has shared his love for McDonald's several times before, and is partial to Big Macs and Filet-O-Fish sandwiches. He even requested it when he fell ill with COVID-19 in 2020. Other fast food highlights from his first term included the President serving McDonald's to a group of athletes. He dished up a McDonald's buffet to the Clemson Tigers in 2019, a team of university students who were national college football champions that year. Trump even served people from a McDonald's drive-thru window during his 2024 Presidential election campaign. He put the signature apron one and even manned the chip station and filled takeaway bags. He took a shift at a branch in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, and said: "It requires great expertise, actually, to do it right and to do it fast. I do appreciate it a little more. You say, 'Give me French fries.' I'll never forget this experience." Trump also often tasks staff to pick up McDonald's to have on his plane. This love for greasy food prompted the Commander-in-chief to make one change to his orders to stop piling on the pounds. The US President was able to shed more than two stones after removing the buns from his burgers. FOX News host Sean Hannity said: "If he has a burger now, he usually doesn't have it with a bun." Trump is also well known for his love of Diet Coke and is said to drink more than 12 cans of the fizzy drink a day. The President even has a cola delivery button for on his desk in the Oval Office.

Here's Why Donald Trump Loves McDonald's So Much
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links. You might think that, with all that power and money (not to mention having a White House chef at their disposal), it would be champagne and lobster every night at the White House. But Grover Cleveland went into raptures over corned beef and cabbage while Eisenhower liked to cook his steaks directly on the coals. Although Donald Trump does enjoy a steak (well-done, with a Diet Coke chaser), his go-to meal comes from McDonald's, and he has his reasons. According to the 2018 book "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House", Trump enjoys dining at the Golden Arches because he fears he may be poisoned at other establishments. Food made in advance, he feels, is less likely to be tampered with. If he makes arrangements to visit a sit-down restaurant, plenty of people will know in advance, which increases the chance that something may happen to his food. If he swings by Mickey D's drive-thru unannounced, however, he'll get the same premade, paper-wrapped burger that would be served to any other customer. The POTUS has cited another reason why he enjoys eating fast food in general and McDonald's in particular. He's an admitted germophobe, and he feels these establishments have higher standards for food hygiene than independent eateries. As he speculated in an interview with Anderson Cooper, if a fast food chain were to serve a bad burger, it might be enough to put them out of business. (This logic apparently doesn't apply to burritos, since Chipotle has weathered multiple food poisoning incidents.) So, what does Donald Trump like to order when he goes to McDonald's? If it's morning, he'll likely go for an Egg McMuffin, although he's said he's really not much of a breakfast person. Later in the day, however, he'll likely place a pretty substantial order. In " Let Trump Be Trump: The Inside Story of His Rise to the Presidency," a 2017 memoir by former campaign managers Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie, it was reported that one of Trump's favorite meals consisted of two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, and what was described by the president as a "chocolate malted." No, McDonald's doesn't sell malted milk, Trump has called milkshakes by this term since childhood. While the aforementioned meal does total a hefty 2,440 calories, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner reported that the president's favorite McDonald's meal as he knew it was somewhat smaller in size. He's observed Ivanka's dad ordering just one Big Mac, one Filet-O-Fish, fries, and a vanilla shake. This still comes out to 1,800 calories. A pretty large meal, true, but since it may be the POTUS' only meal of the day, it's likely he sees it as less of an indulgence than a necessity.

Nisha Katona's fish finger sandwich is a nostalgic nod to meddling mums
'This dish is an ode to my mother's ability to meddle,' says Mowgli restaurateur Nisha Katona. 'When we first discovered McDonald's in the UK in 1978, we would drive all the way to London for a Filet-O- Fish. In the back of our Ford Anglia, Ma would open her handbag and produce some homemade green chilli pickle and finely sliced red onion and set to work on her hard-won prize. As children, we were always mortified, but it turns out that mothers really do know best.' Serves: 4 Ingredients: Vegetable oil, for frying 125g gram/chickpea flour, plus extra for sprinkling ½ tsp salt 1 tsp baking powder ½ tsp ground turmeric 1/8 tsp chilli powder ½ tsp ajwain seeds 1 tsp white poppy seeds 350g white fish fillets (haddock or cod work well), cut into 12 goujons 8 slices white bread, buttered For the gherkin and coriander raita: 250g Greek yoghurt Juice of ¼ lemon ½ tsp ground cumin ½ clove garlic, crushed ½ tsp salt 2 tbsp roughly chopped gherkins Small handful fresh coriander/cilantro, roughly chopped Method: 1. Following manufacturers' guidelines, add oil to a deep-fat fryer and preheat to 180°C/350°F/gas mark 4. If you don't have a deep-fat dryer, simply put four centimetres of vegetable oil in the base of a large pan and set over a medium-high heat. 2. Sift the flour into a large bowl and add the salt, baking powder, ground turmeric, chilli powder, ajwain seeds and poppy seeds and stir to combine. Make a well in the centre and gradually whisk in around 150 mililitres cold water to make a thick batter. 3. Check the oil by carefully dropping a small spoonful of batter into it – if the batter bubbles and floats to the surface then it is ready. Sprinkle the fish goujons with a little flour, then dip them into the batter to cover, shaking off any excess. Carefully lower the coated goujons into the oil and fry for three to four minutes, until the batter is puffed and golden and the fish is cooked through. Set aside while you prepare the rest of the elements. 4. To make the raita, put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix until well combined. 5. Spread each of the bread slices with some of the raita. Lay the goujons over half of the bread slices, then top the sandwiches with the remaining bread. Cut into halves and enjoy!

'We are very fortunate': Hornell McDonald's back in business after contractor plugs leaks
Loyal McDonald's customers in the Hornell area did not have to wait long for the return of Big Macs, Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, Egg McMuffins and hot apple pie. The same goes for the roughly four dozen Hornell McDonald's workers, who were returning to their jobs Tuesday after the 950 state Route 36 store was forced to close Sunday morning when the restaurant's ceiling sprung multiple leaks. The closure turned out to last only 48 hours. While there was some worry that the leaks would keep the restaurant closed for an extended period of time, Rochester-based Leo J. Ross Corporation sent a crew to Hornell on Monday to repair the roof, according to the City of Hornell Codes Office. The roofing crew was able to complete the job in one day and the Hornell Codes gave the all clear after inspecting the work. The McDonald's lobby was warm and dry Tuesday morning as Hornell codes official Larry Bacon removed the no occupancy sign on the front entrance at about 8 a.m. Store employees then began trickling in. Hornell McDonald's Supervisor Tina Peaty said the focus was on the safety of McDonald's employees and customers throughout the entire situation. Peaty said she's grateful the problems were identified and remedied so quickly. "We are very fortunate that they came out and worked in this weather," Peaty said. The Hornell Fire Department responded at 8:05 a.m. Sunday to the restaurant's report of water dripping into the business at several locations. Restaurant workers and employees were evacuated and there were no injuries. Hornell emergency officials attributed the leaks to the accumulation of snow and ice on the building's roof from the frequent February storm blasts. Peaty praised Hornell city officials, including codes and the fire department, for working with the restaurant and keeping everyone safe. "Larry has been wonderful assisting us," she said of Bacon.
