SUNGAI BULOH, May 30 — A 30-year-old man was killed when a lorry rammed into a motorcycle, a roadside stall, and the fence of a mosque in Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh yesterday afternoon. The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said it received a distress call at 1.36pm about the incident near Masjid Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh and deployed a team to the scene, as reported by the New Straits Times. 'The accident involved a Nissan UD lorry, which collided with a motorcycle of unknown make before ploughing into a roadside stall and the mosque's perimeter fence,' said operations commander Rosdi Hainan in a statement. 'Our personnel successfully extricated the man by 1.44pm. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel,' he added. Rosdi said the man was found unconscious and trapped beneath the lorry when the rescue team arrived. The team of six firefighters from the Sungai Buloh Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the location just three minutes after receiving the call. The victim's body was handed over to the police for further action. No other injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

KUALA KRAI, May 30 — Three people were killed in an accident between an express bus and a car along Jalan Kuala Krai-Gua Musang, near Kampung Sungai Sam here today. A Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) of Kelantan spokesman said they received an emergency call at 11.20am before dispatching a team which reached the scene 35 minutes later. 'Upon arrival at the scene, the team found an express bus and a Perodua Myvi involved in a collision, with three victims, a man and two women, pinned in the Myvi car. Their bodies were handed over to the police,' he said in a statement today. He said the bus driver sustained minor injuries and that the team used special equipment to extricate the victims pinned in the car. — Bernama

KUCHING, May 30 — Six individuals sustained injuries when the car they were travelling in skidded off the road near Kampung Gua along Jalan Serian-Sri Aman earlier today. According to a statement from the Sarawak Operations Centre of the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (Bomba), the accident involved a Perodua Axia compact car. The victims included a 15-year-old female teenager, three adult males aged 21, 32, and 60, and two adult females aged 30 and 56. All victims only sustained minor injuries and were not trapped in the vehicle following the accident. They managed to exit the car unaided, without the use of any rescue equipment. 'Upon the rescue team's arrival at the scene, it was confirmed that a single-vehicle accident had occurred involving a compact vehicle (Perodua Axia),' the statement read. JBPM further reported that three of the injured were transported to Hospital Sri Aman via Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS), while one adult male and one female were conveyed by Ministry of Health (KKM) ambulances. The emergency call was received at 7.16am, and the operation was concluded at 7.50am. The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) also responded to the incident. — The Borneo Post

JOHOR BARU, May 29 — Police are probing the identity of a young girl whose body was recently found floating in Sungai Skudai here. Johor Baru North police chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh said police have yet to determine the child's status, including her citizenship or whether she had been reported missing. 'Police have yet to identify the child's identity. 'Initial investigations revealed that the body was that of a girl between the age of five and seven. 'Investigators are also in the midst of identifying the cause of the child's death,' he said in a statement yesterday. Balveer was responding to the discovery of a child's body found floating in Sungai Skudai on Sunday. In the incident, a 70-year-old man lodged a police report after discovering the body. The Fire and Rescue Department was called to assist police at 10.28am to extricate the body from the river's edge. Balveer said the child was found wearing an anklet on her left foot, with a 'Love' logo engraved with the word 'IV'. 'The police call on the public who is aware that there is a missing child or family member that fits the description to come forward and assist in investigations. 'Those who have any information regarding the case can contact the Johor Baru North district police headquarters at 07-5563122,' he said.

KUANTAN, May 29 — A 58-year-old man was found drowned in Sungai Pahang at Kampung Paya Pasir, Maran yesterday afternoon. A Pahang Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said a fisherman found the victim's body floating at around 3 pm near the Kampung Paya Pasir sand pump. He said the department used an aluminium boat to retrieve the victim, whose floating body was caught among a pile of driftwood. The body was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation. 'The operation faced difficulties in launching the boat due to the soft, sandy terrain of the area,' he added. A total of seven personnel from the Maran Fire and Rescue Station were involved in the operation. Meanwhile, Maran police chief Supt Wong Kim Wai said the victim's body had been sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital's Forensics Unitfor a post-mortem. — Bernama
