Report: Rockets open to trading Alperen Sengun in Giannis Antetokounmpo deal with Bucks
The Houston Rockets clearly have some level of interest in pursuing a trade this offseason for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. How much? Per veteran NBA scribe Kurt Helin of NBC Sports, the Rockets are willing to include 22-year-old NBA All-Star Alperen Sengun in an offer. Helin writes: Houston has optionality, this trade can be structured in many different ways. Houston would be open to trading Alperen Sengun, league sources told NBC Sports, but the Bucks may be higher on a Jalen Green-based trade (depending on how they rate Green). Jabari Smith Jr. is likely part of any deal, and the Rockets have a lot of future first-round picks — their own and others, such as Brooklyn and Phoenix picks — that could be part of the trade. It likely takes a third team to make the math work, but it's very doable. A 6-foot-11 power forward, Antetokounmpo averaged 30.4 points (60.1% FG), 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game in the 2024-25 season. A two-time Most Valuable Player (MVP), the 'Greek Freak' is a perennial MVP candidate and appears set to make his seventh consecutive All-NBA First Team in the coming days. Advertisement Thus, as good as Sengun is, Antetokounmpo is currently in a higher tier. Then again, Antetokounmpo is 30 years old and Sengun is 22, which is why the deal could have appeal to the Bucks (and why some Houston fans might hesitate). The next domino is finding out whether Antetokounmpo truly issues a trade request, and if the Rockets think his addition is sufficient to lift this season's 52-30 finish into true title contention. If both answers are affirmative, a deal that makes sense for both sides appears reasonable — and especially since Milwaukee doesn't have control of its future first-round draft picks. That could make it especially important for the Bucks to target younger players with proven production and an ability to quickly contribute to winning. In the first year of a five-year contract extension, Sengun will make $33.9 million in 2025-26. That will make it signicantly easier for the Rockets to match salaries with the Bucks and Antetokounmpo's $57.6-million figure. Had Houston not awarded contract extensions to Sengun and Green last October, neither could be part of a 2025 offseason trade without their consent (since each would be a restricted free agent). Thus, those deals are already adding to the options for Rockets general manager Rafael Stone. Miami Heat Receive Heartbreaking Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Update
Miami Heat Receive Heartbreaking Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Update originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo's ongoing trade saga continues to dominate the basketball landscape. Advertisement With both the Bucks and prospective suitors waiting on baited breath for an announcement on his decision to possibly move forward with a trade request, the trade rumor mill has come alive. The Miami Heat and their uber-aggressive team president Pat Riley were likely to heavily pursue a blockbuster trade for the 2021 NBA Finals MVP, but recent updates have thrown a wrench into that plan. According to a new post from Forbes' Evan Sidery on X, citing DraftKings Sportsbook odds, it seems as though the Heat have fallen out of the race to acquire the generational talent via trade in the coming months. Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo drives to the basket against the Cleveland Cavaliers during the first quarter at Rocket Mortgage Blaze-Imagn Images With the Bucks leading the charge with -140 odds to have the legendary forward return and the Brooklyn Nets sitting at +2000 to land Antetokounmpo, the Heat were not listed anywhere in between. Advertisement After falling out of the top-8 teams with regard to the likelihood of acquiring the 30-year-old mega-star, the Heat may have to pivot. Other big-time talents such as the Phoenix Suns' Kevin Durant and Atlanta Hawks' Trae Young will still pique the Heat's interest as possible trade targets this offseason. Still, potentially missing out on the chance to bring in one of the most dominant two-way players in league history would be devastating for a franchise looking to remain competitive in the Eastern Conference. In 67 appearances for the Bucks during the 2024-25 regular season, Antetokounmpo contributed 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists while knocking down 60.1% of his attempts from the field. Advertisement Through his incredible effort, the 9-time All-Star earned a third-place finish in MVP voting and a seventh consecutive All-NBA First Team selection. Antetokounmpo's potential partnership with the Heat's fearsome duo of Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo would have a chance to wreck the East, but it may not have a real shot at coming to fruition. HBCU track power rising picks up honors, transfers
HBCU powerhouse Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) is celebrating a historic postseason after capturing the 2025 CIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The Rams' momentum continued on the national stage, with multiple honors for both athletes and coaches, further cementing WSSU's rise in HBCU track and field. At the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in Pueblo, Colorado, WSSU athletes Charnessa Reid and Brianna Benloss delivered standout performances. Benloss ran a personal-best 11.39 in the 100m prelims to qualify for the finals, finishing ninth overall and earning Second Team All-American honors. Reid, meanwhile, placed fourth nationally in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.35, securing First Team All-American status. Reid's dominance this season-undefeated in collegiate hurdles competition and victorious at the CIAA Championships-also earned her the title of USTFCCCA Division II Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year. WSSU assistant coach Paula Salmon, in her first season, was named Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year after leading WSSU's sprinters and hurdlers to five CIAA titles, ten school records, and 23 NCAA provisional marks. Adding to the momentum, HBCU standout Candace Morris is transferring to WSSU from West Virginia State. Morris, a First Team All-American in the 60m dash during the indoor season, also swept the 100m and 200m titles at the Mountain East Conference Outdoor Championships. Her arrival gives WSSU even more firepower heading into 2025. WSSU continues to showcase the strength and depth of HBCU athletics on the national stage, with its women's track program earning accolades and attracting elite talent. With All-Americans, championship hardware, and elite transfers, WSSU is setting the standard for HBCU excellence in track and field. UC Irvine showcases its power, eliminating Arizona State in NCAA baseball tournament
Under threat of elimination, UC Irvine's bats emerged once again. Bringing the power for a second straight game, the Anteaters connected for five home runs Sunday, eliminating Arizona State 11-6 in the Los Angeles Regional of the NCAA baseball tournament. Needing to win four straight games to advance to the super regionals after losing to Arizona State on Friday, UC Irvine is halfway to its goal. Alonso Reyes — who had just one home run in 2025 entering Sunday's game — ripped a two-run home run off of Sun Devils starter Derek Schaefer in the fourth inning. Later in the inning, after Arizona State coach Willie Bloomquist went with Lucas Kelly out of the bullpen, Chase Call cleared the batter's eye in dead center field for a two-run home run to give the Anteaters a 6-1 lead. UC Irvine took a 7-2 lead in the sixth when Call launched a changeup over the heart of the plate from Sun Devils closer Cole Carlon beyond the left-field wall and into the neighborhood behind Jackie Robinson Stadium. Call's two home runs weren't the only examples of the Anteaters' power at the plate. UC Irvine star center fielder Jacob McCombs connected for a no-doubt home run (423 feet, 106.5 mph) for the second straight day in the third inning, lifting the ball over The Jack and Rhodine Gifford Training Facility in right field. McCombs, an All-Big-West First Team honoree, leaned back in the batter's box after his home run, taking time to admire his go-ahead blast. Even when the Sun Devils threatened — scoring three in the sixth to make it a two-run game — James Castagnola replenished the lead with a two-run home run in the seventh. UC Irvine forced Carlon — who entered the game with a 2.73 earned-run average — from the game. He conceded a season-high five runs (four earned) across 1⅓ innings. Plenty is still up for grabs for the Anteaters, but it will now require more of the same offense — and taking down UCLA twice (once Sunday night and on Monday) to extend their season. Luckily for coach Ben Orloff, he preserved most of his pitching staff thanks to redshirt sophomore left-hander Ryder Brooks' start. The brother of former UCLA Friday night starting pitcher Jake Brooks made himself at home at Jackie Robinson Stadium, tossing 5⅓ innings of five-run ball, giving up six hits, walking four and striking out three with low-slot delivery. It was Brooks' longest start since a complete-game shutout of Hawaii on April 19. Orloff dipped into his bullpen for just two relief pitchers. Ricky Ojeda, the Big West Pitcher of the Year, tossed 1 ⅓ innings on 34 pitches. Over the last three days, Ojeda has thrown 74 pitches — and would be on just a few hours rest if he pitches Sunday night against UCLA. The Anteaters split their midweek season series against the Bruins earlier this year.

AC Milan announce they are parting with coach Conceicao
ROME: AC Milan announced on Thursday that they were terminating the contract of their Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao, who joined the club last December and led them to an eighth-placed finish in Serie A. "AC Milan and Sergio Conceicao will not continue their journey together next season," the club said in a short statement on their web site. "The club would like to thank Sergio and his staff for their commitment, professionalism and dedication shown during their time leading the First Team over the past few months." Italian media linked Massimiliano Allegri with a return to Milan. Allegri, who is 57, led Milan to the 2011 Serie A scudetto in his first stint in charge. He won five more Italian league titles in two spells at Juventus. Conceicao, a former Inter Milan and Lazio player, had signed a contract with Milan until the end of next season but there has been speculation that he might leave in the summer with Milan eighth in Serie A. He began at Milan by winning the Italian Super Cup after replacing sacked compatriot Paulo Fonseca and then led Milan to the Italian cup final where they lost 1-0 to Bologna on May 14. Conceciao, who is 50, won 16 of 31 games in charge at Milan, including 11 victories, seven losses and three draws in the league. He took over with the club in eighth place and finished the season there. After that loss, the season was summed up in damning fashion by defender Matteo Gabbia, "Quite simply it's been a bad season," Gabbia said. "We weren't able to give our best. We were hoping for more, better from a team given how much talent it has.
