Breanna Stewart and other WNBA stars shine at the met gala ahead of 2025 season
Breanna Stewart made a powerful fashion statement at the 2025 Met Gala, turning heads and capturing hearts with an outfit that resonated far beyond the red carpet. The New York Liberty star wore a sharply tailored, all white tuxedo ensemble inspired by the cult-classic film The First Wives Club, earning applause from fans and fellow WNBA players, including Indiana Fever guard Sydney ColsonSydney Colson, who's also part of the LGBTQ+ community, shared a photo of Stewart on X with the caption, "The lesbian representation we needed in the final scene of First Wives Club.' It paid homage to a powerful moment in pop culture history while also spotlighting authentic queer representation in sports and fashion. Stewart, who is married to a former WNBA player, Marta Xargay Casademont, continues to use her platform to support and elevate LGBTQ+ Stewart wasn't the only WNBA player to make waves at the Met Gala. Angel Reese and Sabrina Ionescu also attended, with Reese serving on the host committee. The appearance of multiple WNBA stars at such a high-profile fashion event shows how the league's influence continues to expand off the Stewart is gearing up for her ninth WNBA season, having re-signed with the Liberty for a one-year deal. She averaged 20.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists last season, leading New York to its first-ever championship appearance.
