Seated scooters on city streets

Photo: Gerard O'Brien More Flamingos have flocked to Dunedin, as seated electric scooters, like the one seen here, join the city's fleet. Flamingo co-founder Nick Hyland said 20 seated scooters were permanently introduced to Dunedin earlier this month, with more on the way. "Seated scooters offer a more comfortable option for people who may not be able to stand for long periods, or who simply prefer a seated ride." Feedback so far had been "really positive" — people liked the comfort and flexibility, he said. "It's all about giving people more choice in how they get around the city safely and sustainably. The seated scooters were already in Auckland and Palmerston North.

So if you're looking to add style to your outside space without breaking the bank, then you've come to the right place and will need to check this out. 2 A DIY fan has revealed the £15 buy she swears by to add privacy to your garden Credit: instagram/reviving_no37 2 Not only does it look beautiful, but it's sure to leave your guests impressed Credit: instagram/reviving_no37 Katie, a mother and content creator who is currently renovating her home in Shropshire, shared the purse-friendly plant that will add 'fast privacy' to your garden. With this trick, you won't have to worry about splashing the cash on a pricey privacy fence, making it great for those on a budget. Posting on social media, Katie revealed the bargain trees that give privacy, leaving many totally stunned. The DIY enthusiast then shared her rave review on Salix Trees, which are also known as 'Flamingo' Trees. Flamingo Trees are native to the UK and are known for their graceful weeping forms, fluffy catkins, and varied stem colours. They thrive in moist soils and are found in a variety of habitats, from riverbanks to rocky slopes. Prior to planting the Flamingo Trees, Katie's garden was pretty plain. But after just eight weeks of planting the trees, Katie's garden looked 'beautiful'. Thrilled with the affordable trees, Katie beamed: 'They are fast growing, budget friendly.' Not only this, but she also added: 'They have the most beautiful pink, white and green leaves.' The Salix Flamingo Craze: Transform Your Garden Katie later shared that she "absolutely loves' her Flamingo Trees, as she wrote: 'We planted these trees three years ago, and within weeks of planting them, they became wonderfully bushy.' She then confirmed: 'We paid £15 per tree at a local garden centre, but I have seen them in supermarkets for slightly cheaper.' How to create privacy in your garden CREATING privacy in your garden can be achieved in a number of ways depending on your budget, and the size of your space. Here are some effective ways to enhance privacy in your garden: 1. Fencing Install a tall, solid wooden or vinyl fence. This is one of the most straightforward ways to gain immediate privacy. Or use lattice panels, trellis, or slatted fencing to add a decorative touch while still offering privacy. 2. Hedges and Plants Fast-growing evergreen shrubs or trees like Leylandii, Thuja, or Bamboo along the boundary of your garden can help with privacy. Grow a dense hedge using plants like Boxwood, Privet, or Laurel. It may take time to grow, but it provides a natural and green privacy screen. Use climbers like Ivy, Clematis, or Wisteria on fences or trellises to create a lush, green privacy barrier. 3. Outdoor Curtains Hang outdoor curtains around pergolas, gazebos, or patios for an easy-to-adjust privacy solution. 4. Sound Barriers A water fountain or small waterfall can help drown out noise, adding to the sense of privacy. Or install fencing designed to reduce noise if privacy from sound is also a concern. Katie, who created a 'mixed hedge with varying sizes for extra focal interest', also shared: 'They are perfect for creating fast privacy which we really needed at the front of our house.' DIY fans beam The Instagram clip, which was posted under the username @reviving_no37, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 692,000 views. Not only this, but it's also amassed 5,312 likes and 168 comments. They look great Instagram user Social media users were impressed with Katie's DIY hack and many eagerly raced to the comments to express this. One person said: 'I literally love them!' 8 must-have plants to brighten up your garden Nick Hamilton owner of Barnsdale Gardens has shared his favourite plants and flowers you should consider adding to your garden, borders and pots. Tricyrtis A spectacular plant that gives a real exotic feel to any garden with its orchid-like, spotted flowers giving the impression that this plant should be tender but it is 'as tough as old boots!'. Penstemon I love this plants genus of because most will flower all summer and autumn. They'll grow in sun or semi-shade in a well drained soil and produce a non-stop display of tubular flowers in an array of colours and colour combination to suit all tastes. Luzula sylvatica 'Marginata' With the evergreen leaves edged with yellow it's great asset is that it will grow in sun or shade in any type of soil and is great as groundcover in the hardest spot to fill - dry shade. Eryngium x zabelii 'Big Blue' A stunning, nectar-rich plant that will feed the beneficial insects in your garden. Leave the flowerheads once they have turned brown because they look stunning with winter frost and snow, extending the plant's interest period. Sarcococca hookeriana 'Winter Gem' If you need winter scent then look no further than this compact, evergreen shrub. The scent is stunning and the evergreen leaves create an excellent backdrop for the summer flowers. Cornus sanguinea 'Anny's Winter Orange' A dwarf version of 'Midwinter Fire' the very colourful stems create a stunning winter display, particularly on sunny days. Rosa 'Noisette Carnee' A very well-behaved climbing rose that is perfect for training over an arch, pergola or gazebo. The small, 'noisette' flowers are blush-pink and produce the most amazing clove scent constantly from June to November. Sanguisorba hakusanensis 'Lilac Squirrel' I've never seen a squirrel with a drooping, shaggy lilac tail, but this variety will give your garden an unusual and different look throughout summer. It does need a moisture retentive soil but will grow in sun or semi-shade. Another added: 'Absolutely beautiful.' A third commented: 'They look great.' At the same time, one user beamed: 'I need some privacy trees, will make a note of these thanks.' Meanwhile, alongside love heart eye emojis, someone else penned: 'I saw some in Asda for £13 each! So good.' Unlock even more award-winning articles as The Sun launches brand new membership programme - Sun Club

This City Was Just Named the No. 1 Summer Destination in the U.S. by Tripadvisor

Summer has always been known as peak travel season for Las Vegas, and now we have the data to back it up. Tripadvisor's 2025 Annual Summer Travel Index puts Las Vegas at the top the list of domestic destinations for U.S. travelers between June and September. The entertainment capital is an easy fit for summer travel: it's easy to get to, caters to all traveler types, and it's always changing. In recent years, Vegas gained a $3 billion luxury mega-resort, established itself as a new base for Formula 1, and opened one of America's most unique concert venues. And somehow, Sin City still finds ways to surprise repeat visitors. Here's what to know about visiting this summer—from pool season to where to escape the heat. Pool season is just starting in Vegas, and with summer temps often hitting the triple digits, outdoor swimming spots are in high demand. The scene varies quite a bit, so it's worth knowing what vibe you're going for before you book. For example, The Cosmopolitan's Boulevard Pool and the pool at Fontainebleau both host an after-dark outdoor movie series each summer. But for those looking for a private experience, you can't go wrong with the Waldorf-Astoria Las Vegas pool, which features a Turkish hammam in its adjoining spa. In the mood to socialize? The soon-to-be-unveiled Go Pool at Flamingo is expected guests 21-and-up entertained with daylong DJ sets, waterfalls, and frozen cocktails served at a swim-up bar built in the middle of the pool. Best of all, it's free and open to non-guests. Palm Tree Beach Club at MGM Grand is another fantastic option for pool party fans: the dayclub is run by Tao Group (the company behind Hakkasan and Marquee) and features a lineup of guest DJs like Kygo, Tiesto and Steve Aoki. Related Stories 30 Best Things to Do in Las Vegas 12 Best Las Vegas Hotels For such a small city, the restaurant scene in Vegas is phenomenal. This summer, a good place to start would be Via Via, a brand new food hall opening inside the Venetian Resort this June. The hotly anticipated food hall will put acclaimed eateries—like New York City's Scarr Pizza, New Orleans' Turkey & The Wolf, and the first non-LA iteration of Howlin' Ray's Hot Chicken—all under one roof. Elsewhere on the Strip, you'll want to visit Wicked Spoon inside the Cosmopolitan for an all-day brunch spot with bottomless mimosas. For fusion fare, dine at Best Friend, spotlighting Roy Choi's inventive dishes like kimchi carbonara, Kogi short rib tacos, and out-of-this-world Medjool date cake. Travelers who venture off-Strip will be rewarded by equally fantastic meals at places like Esther's Kitchen. The Arts District eatery is always packed, thanks to its unbelievably delicious sourdough pizza and housemade pasta dishes. Down the street, Main Street Provisions serves steaks and seafood classics like fresh oysters and sea scallops. And Soul Belly BBQ is a must for anyone interested in Texas-style bbq. On weekends, the restaurant also hosts live music acts. With such brutal summer heat, it's entirely reasonable to want to spend the whole of your Vegas trip inside. However, if you're willing to get an early start, it's still possible to enjoy the natural beauty of a place like Red Rock Canyon, which is just 25 minutes from the Strip and easily accessible by Uber or Lyft. Show up around 6 am, just before sunrise, for a jaw-dropping hike through gorgeous red rock formations. The Fountains of Bellaggio are another popular outdoor activity—and with good reason. Voted the top Las Vegas attraction on Tripadvisor, the fountains soar nearly 500 feet in the air, with accompanying orchestral music and lights. (Pro-tip: for smaller crowds, go on a weeknight.) On those sizzling days when you're itching to explore, a good compromise would be Fremont Street Experience. The outdoor pedestrian mall is covered with a pavilion that doubles as a massive LED screen, so you can stay cool and enjoy state-of-the-art graphics. While strolling the promenade, you can dip in and out of some of Vegas' oldest landmark casinos, like Golden Nugget and Binion's. If you want to get some shopping done closer to the Strip, the Grand Canal Shoppes are a good place to start. The indoor mall is modeled after the streets of Venice, Italy, complete with arched bridges, piazzas, and canals. When you're done shopping, book a gondola ride and be serenaded by an opera singer!
