THUNDERBOLTS* Director Says the Bob/Yelena Ship Stuff Is Cute But Doesn't See Them Romantically — GeekTyrant

Since the release of Marvel's Thunderbolts* , some fans have been vocal in expressing their hope for a Bob/Yelena relationship. In the film, it was Yelena (Florence Pugh) who gave Bob (Lewis Pullman) a chance to share how he was feeling, free from judgement. Then she went after him in his darkest time to be a friend and help him to know he wasn't alone. The movie was about getting through the hard parts of life, and friendships that sustain us, but some viewers thought maybe there was a chance for Yelena and Bob to have more. The film's director, Jake Schreier, weighed in on the idea in a recent interview with Collider, where he said: "I have seen the Boblena stuff. I think it's really cute. I don't view it as a romantic relationship, personally. But I think we knew that Lewis and Florence having chemistry, regardless of whether that's romantic chemistry or not, that relationship is so central to the movie that it's not a bad thing to have some amount of that." He went on to say: "We were very clear there was never a discussion of, like, 'Is this romantic or not?' I don't think we wanted to cheapen that being there for each other in darker times and the way all of them connect to that idea. That wasn't what we were going for. 'You've got these great actors and so little narrative real estate to build this connection between them before they're kind of ripped apart, and then that connection is going to determine the end of the film. 'Getting their relationship right is so important… if we did get that right, people would enjoy watching them together. And the internet is the internet.' I got the friendship vibe from the film, and from the pairing. I look forward to seeing all the Thunderbolts back in Avengers: Doomsday , which is set to hit screens on December 18, 2026.

THUNDERBOLTS* VFX Video Reveals How The Films Visuals Came to Life — GeekTyrant

If you've been wondering how Marvel pulled off some of the visuals in Thunderbolts* , a new VFX breakdown from Framestore was released, and it's packed with fascinating details. From high-altitude battles to surreal moments inside The Void, this video shows just how much artistry went into the film's biggest scenes. One of the standout elements in Thunderbolts* was Bob, played by Lewis Pullman, who doubles as Sentry and his terrifying alter ego, The Void. Bringing that duality to life took a combination of practical effects and heavy CG work. The breakdown starts by zooming in on Valentina Allegra de Fontaine's secret vault, perched atop a mountain. This location is where our dysfunctional team first collides, only to discover Valentina has set them up to kill each other. The entire mountain-top structure and the army of guards outside was fully digital. The reel also showcases Ghost's signature phasing ability in action, like when she slides through the back of a jeep. Then we see Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova being launched through a wall inside The Void, landing on a table thanks to old-school wire work. The set's practical curtains, are swapped out for CG elements that add a supernatural touch, creating the effect of the room itself attacking her. Then, at the vault, we see Bob ascend high into the sky after taking fire from guards, his rise and dizzying fall back to Earth happen in a fully CG environment. Later, the sequence jumps to a sprawling lab, which was partially practical but digitally expanded and ultimately annihilated during Bob's brutal clash with The Void. Early concept shots reveal how the lab grew in scale and then crumbled in spectacular fashion. Yelena, meanwhile, dodges collapsing debris in a mix of wire-assisted stunts and CG enhancements. This behind-the-scenes look reinforces just how much invisible work goes into making an MCU film of this scale. Thunderbolts* doesn't just rely on CGI spectacle, it blends practical stunts, intricate digital artistry, and meticulous planning to create something that feels chaotic yet grounded.

Margot Robbie tipped as favourite to star in 'wild and orgasmic' Basic Instinct reboot

Aussie A-Lister Margot Robbie has emerged as a favourite to star in a 'wild and orgasmic' reboot of the '90s cult classic Basic Instinct. The Wrap reported this week that Amazon MGM Studios' United Artists had acquired the rights to an as-yet-untitled reboot of the controversial 1992 erotic thriller. News of the reboot sent fans into a frenzy on social media, with many offering their pick to take on the film's antagonist Catherine Tramell, played in the original by Sharon Stone. 'OMG Margot Robbie would be perfect for this,' one film fan wrote on X,' while another offered a similar sentiment: 'remake it with Margot Robbie.' It seems the market agrees, with UK bookmaker William Hill placing the Barbie actress as one of the favourites to star. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. They currently have Margot at 3/1 odds, just behind Oppenheimer star Florence Pugh at 2/1. Other actresses in contention include Sydney Sweeney (5/1), Anya Taylor-Joy (6/1), Ana de Armas (8/1), and Jodie Comer (10/1). Pop star Lady Gaga, meanwhile, is the outside chance at 12/1 odds. Joe Eszterhas, the Hollywood veteran screenwriter behind the 1992 original, has inked a $4million deal to pen the reboot, the publication reported. 'To those who question what an 80-year-old man is doing writing a sexy, erotic thriller: the rumours of my cinematic impotence are exaggerated and ageist,' he said in a statement. 'I call my writing partner the Twisted Little Man, and he lives somewhere deep inside me. 'He was born 29 and he will die 29 and he tells me he is 'sky high up' to write this piece and provide viewers with a wild and orgasmic ride. That makes me very happy.' The original Basic Instinct, starring Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas, was a box office phenomenon, grossing more than $350million globally. The film followed Douglas as Detective Nick Curran, who becomes embroiled in a dangerous seduction game with novelist Catherine Tramell (Stone), a prime suspect in a murder investigation. The film, known for its explicit content, including Stone's now-iconic interrogation scene, shot the actress into the stratosphere. The sequel, released in 2006 with Stone reprising her iconic role, failed to match the hype of the original, grossing just $38.6 million globally, far below its $70 million production budget. Back in 2023, Stone revealed that Robbie would be the perfect choice to play her in a film adaptation of her life. The blonde bombshell sat down with The Lady Gang Podcast in 2023 to discuss the person who could fill the diva's stilettos. 'I adore Margot Robbie so probably her,' offered the Casino actress. 'She is so talented. After I saw her playing Tonya Harding I was like you're it.'

Rumor: Reed Richards Won't Lead Avengers in Doomsday, These 2 Heroes Will

According to a new rumor, Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic might not be the leader of the eponymous superhero team in the upcoming MCU movies Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. This comes after The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman indicated that Reed will lead the Avengers in those movies. Yelena Belova to lead the Avengers in Doomsday, not Reed Richards Industry scooper @MyTimeToShineH took to X (formerly Twitter) to claim that, despite what has been previously reported, Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova and Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson / Captain America, and not Reed, will lead the Avengers in the next team-up movies. 'Okay so I just checked with my source and they told me that Reed Richards is NOT the leader of the Avengers in Doomsday and Secret Wars,' @MyTimeToShineH posted. 'Sam and Yelena are the ones leading the team(s).' This contradicts what Shakman said in a new interview. 'He [Reed] goes from being the nerdy scientist who's locked away in the lab, to the husband and the father who'd do anything to protect his family, to the guy who's leading the Avengers,' the filmmaker explained. As things stand, what @MyTimeToShineH shared on social media on this subject should be regarded as speculation. However, given how methodically Marvel has established Sam and Yelena as leaders of their respective Avengers groups in Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*, one can presume that the studio might want to continue with those storylines at least for some time. If they give up the leadership immediately after the Fantastic Four's arrival on Earth-616, it could potentially render the two characters' journey across multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe projects somewhat inconsequential. Reed will appear alongside the rest of his team in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which hits US theaters on July 25, 2025. Meanwhile, Avengers: Doomsday premieres on December 18, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. Originally reported by Tamal Kundu on SuperHeroHype. THUNDERBOLTS* Director Describes Seeing His Cast on AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Set and Talks About the Team's New Leader — GeekTyrant

Thunderbolts* was a huge hit at the box office. Fans loved this motley crew and their banter amid the action and the heart the story delivered. We are about to see the film's home release, and director Jake Schreier chatted with ComicBook about the movie to celebrate. One point he touched on was how surreal it was to finish his movie, and see his cast in the set of Avengers: Doomsday , filming the post-credits scene under the direction of the Russo brothers. The Russo Bros. are at the helm of both Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars , and Schreier says Yelena Belova star Florence Pugh described perfectly what it was like for Schreier to watch the Thunderbolts cast film that key scene on the Doomsday set. 'Florence joked, because I was there when they did the post-credits scene, but I was just on set in the background. She said it was like being dropped off at school by your parent and turning over your shoulder to wave goodbye. 'Do well! Study!' No, look, the thing is, all of, almost all of these characters were created before I came along, and I think that's just part of the way these worlds work, and the Russos have done such incredible work in this space.' Schreier went on to say: 'I think it's fun for me because those movies have a different tone, and there is a different context to them. The goal was to see if we could take these characters from where they were in our new versions of them, and if we could bring them to a point where, again, even if it seems odd at first, if you squint, you're like, 'Well, maybe this could work, or maybe it can't.' 'We're not saying that this is going to go smoothly. The fun is watching what on earth is going to happen with that going forward. For me it was fun that day just being on that set where, as big as our movie was, it's a big movie for me, but there is this even bigger context to this world and all the other characters that are in it. 'To see those characters now in that context, there was a lot of fun to that, and it felt different in a way that it should feel different. So I'm just excited to see what happens. Yeah.' Now that the Thunderbolts are officially the New Avengers, and are interacting more with the rest of the MCU thanks to Doomsday, Schreier was asked who he thinks could be the leader of the New Avengers if he had to guess. He seemed to say what most people are probably thinking: 'I think what's fun with them is that everyone could realistically imagine that they are the leader, and I think that watching that kind of dynamic play out…Obviously it would make a lot of sense for it to be Bucky, but it's not a role that he's necessarily been comfortable with. ''I think that any one of them could imagine that it ought to be them, and they all bring something to that, but I have no insight whatsoever into what happens, and I think getting to watch the way all of those characters will play against each other will be really fun.' Thunderbolts* is available on Digital now and will be released on 4K and Blu-ray on July 29.
