The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is $600 off ahead of the new model's debut

Some people like to stay on the cutting edge of technology. If that's you, you already know that Google is going to officially unveil its Pixel 10 phones (including a new Fold) during its August 20th event. But if you're someone who prefers to use these opportunities to save on last-gen tech, you've been rewarded with a sweet deal on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The base 256GB version in obsidian (black) is down to $1,199 at Amazon and Best Buy, which is 33 percent off its original $1,799 price. It was selling for $100 more just last week. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold was a big leap forward compared to Google's first-gen foldable, touting a lightweight design that looks and feels like a normal phone before you unfold it. One of its main drawbacks was that, despite its high original price, you don't get the same great cameras in the cheaper Pixel 9 Pro (which, by the way, is only $599 at Best Buy). They're still good, mind you, but reviewer Allison Johnson said during her testing that its telephoto lens produced softer images by comparison, and low-light photos were less detailed. Drawbacks aside, she was eager to recommend the foldable phone at its original $1,800 price. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is nearly upon us, and it'll likely deliver some sizeable improvements. Google itself has already shown off its design in YouTube clips, and it's very similar to the model on sale now. However, there's a rumor that it might have an IP68 rating, which would make it dustproof. Dust was the kryptonite for early foldable models, but the tech has apparently come a long way since then, so this would be a huge selling point in favor of the new model if it's true. It starts at 14:00 UTC and will be livestreamed on and YouTube (embedded below) for those who can't attend in person. Here's what to expect. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 will slim down and it might just become the thinnest ever horizontal foldable (it will be close). The Flip will split in two, a premium Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 and a more affordable Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE There are new watches on the way too, marking the return of the rotating bezel with the Samsung Galaxy Watch8 Classic to go with the vanilla Galaxy Watch8. Both are bringing a new squircle design. We also expect an update to the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. Samsung Galaxy Watch8 Classic • Samsung Galaxy Watch8 This is what has filtered through the rumor mill so far, plus some official teasers from Samsung. But there could be more. The Galaxy Watch 8 still hasn't launched yet, but don't tell Samsung Health

Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority TL;DR Samsung's next Unpacked event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 9. In addition to its latest foldables, Samsung is expected to launch its Galaxy Watch 8 series of smartwatches. Before they're even official, the latest Samsung Health update is advertising features with 'Watch 8 series' support. Mobile tech fans are all too familiar with the cat-and-mouse game of leaks and rumors in the cycle leading up to the launch of any major new product. For the most part, manufacturers like to carefully control the narrative surrounding the announcement of their latest gear, and that means keeping secrets — until they're ready not to. While we may get a tease or two along the way, we're largely left dealing with unofficial sources and information of questionable provenance up until we get that formal debut. At least, that's how it's supposed to go, but the devs working on Samsung Health seem to have jumped the gun a little. Samsung's next Unpacked event is just days away, and this coming Wednesday, July 9, we're expecting to see the company announce its latest foldable phones and smartwatches. Officially, though, Samsung is still being a little coy, and while its Unpacked teaser included a video featuring some obvious depictions of foldable hardware, plenty of story 'unfolding' puns, and even an explicit #Foldable hashtag, it has stopped short of directly naming the Fold 7 and Flip 7 devices. That kind of restraint extends to the Galaxy Watch 8 series — or, at least, it has. With just a couple days to go until Unpacked, it appears that Samsung Health has gotten a tad ahead of things. Over on the Play Store, the latest update for Samsung Health arrived a little earlier this month. And for its changelog, Samsung offers the following: Checking the oxidative stress level is easy peasy with our antioxidant index! Now you are one step closer to preventing chronic diseases Galaxy Watch will automatically check your vascular load while you are sleeping and show changes by each stage Both the first-time and trained runners can receive training from our Running Coach! We will recommend you with your optimal intensity of workout If those sound familiar, they should, as they're part of the update Samsung announced back in June, where they were characterized as One UI Watch 8 features. But with this Play Store listing, someone has gotten a little more explicit about the hardware this involves, adding: The above features are available with Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch 8 series While we're obviously expecting the Watch 8 family to arrive running One UI Watch 8, so far we had yet to see Samsung acknowledge these features as explicitly intended for Watch 8 hardware. At this point, considering how thoroughly we've seen Samsung's new wearables leak, the cat might as well be out of the bag. And while it's slightly reassuring to see Samsung finally drop any pretense and just tell us the hardware it's building these features for, we don't imagine this is actual news to anyone. In any case, keep checking in with us through the rest of the week for full coverage of Samsung's Unpacked announcements and all the new devices arriving from it. Got a tip? Talk to us! Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 and Flip7 FE battery ratings posted, retailer listing confirms key specs

We already came across the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7's EPREL label yesterday which confirmed its battery endurance, alongside key info on durability, repairability and ingress protection. We now have the same details for the Galaxy Z Flip7 which unsurprisingly shares identical scores in terms of overall energy efficiency (B), durability (A) and repairability (C) while also boasting an IP48 ingress protection rating. Flip7 does get a higher expected battery life on a single charge – at 42 hours and 4 minutes. Galaxy Z Flip7 EPREL label and detailed listing The detailed listing shows that Flip7 features a 4,174mAh rated battery capacity which should be marketed as 4,300mAh. The same set of details is also available for the Z Flip7 FE, which is certified with a rated battery capacity of 3,887mAh. That will likely be marketed as 4,000mAh. Galaxy Z Flip7 FE's EPREL listing Galaxy Z Fold7 is also seen and features a 4,272mAh rated capacity which will most likely be marketed as 4,400mAh. Galaxy Z Fold7's EPREL listing In related news, Z Flip7 also appeared in an early listing on a Romanian retailer's website. We can see the device in its three official colors - Jet Black, Blue Shadow and Coral Red. Galaxy Z Flip7 listing The listing also contains some key specs which confirm the device's 6.9-inch main screen and a 4.1-inch cover screen as well as its Exynos 2500 chipset and 4,300mAh battery capacity. We also get a pricing of RON 3,059 (€604) for the 12/256GB trim, which seems a bit too low so it's most likely incorrect. Source (in Romanian)| Via 1 • Via 2 (in Romanian)
