Browns beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot wins Bill Nunn Award
The Pro Football Writers of America has named Mary Kay Cabot the winner of the 2025 Bill Nunn Jr. Award. Cabot , who writes about the Browns for the Cleveland Plain Dealer and has covered the NFL since 1988. She becomes the 57th Nunn Award honoree and the second journalist who primarily worked at the Cleveland Plain Dealer to win the award, joining Chuck Heaton (1980). Cabot was a four-time finalist for the Nunn Award (2022-25), and she is the second woman to be a Nunn honoree (Pro Football Talk's Charean Williams, 2018). The Nunn Award is given to a reporter who has made a long and distinguished contribution to pro football through coverage. The award is named for Nunn, who prior to his Hall of Fame scouting career with the Steelers, worked for 22 years at the Pittsburgh Courier, one of the most influential Black publications in the United States. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021 as a contributor. Other 2025 finalists for the Nunn Award were Clarence Hill Jr. ( Mike Silver (The Athletic), and Barry Wilner (Associated Press). Cabot is a longtime member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame selection committee and is one of four women currently serving as a selector. She is also president of the Cleveland chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America. She will be honored by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, at the Enshrinees' Gold Jacket Dinner on Friday, Aug. 1.

Dak Prescott is still not cleared for contact, but feels blessed to be playing the game he loves

Prescott is working closely with his rehabilitation crew and personal trainer to prepare for the 2025 NFL season! The Saints and Derek Carr made a 'trade' before he retired. The injured Carr retired Saturday after agreeing to forfeit his $30 million fully guaranteed salary in 2025 in exchange for keeping the $10 million roster bonus he was paid in March, according to NFL Network and Pro Football Talk. Carr could have pocketed the $30 million if he had undergone shoulder surgery to repair a labral tear and damage to his rotator cuff. Report: Steelers 'in play' to trade for Jets wide receiver following George Pickens trade The George Pickens trade may have just set the Steelers' wide receiver room back to square one — but Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk dropped a bombshell of speculation as to who his replacement will likely be. According to Florio, the Steelers are "in play" to trade for Jets WR Allen Lazard — who had previously followed Aaron Rodgers from Green Bay to New York. "Why Lazard? Because Rodgers completely and totally trusts him. And Lazard, for whatever reason, performs much better with Rodgers than he does without him. (At one point during his first year in New York, during Rodgers's season-long injury absence, Lazard became a healthy scratch.)" Acquiring Lazard could be a breeze, as the Jets are likely looking for a late-round draft pick as compensation — not to mention that the Jets receiver also recently took a massive pay cut on his 2025 contract, from $11 million to $2.5 million. If Rodgers can truly get the most out of Lazard, trading for his former teammate becomes a must-have following Pickens' departure to the Dallas Cowboys — as Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson are currently slated to be WR2 and WR3, respectively.
