'Wicked: For Good' trailer gives us 1st look at Dorothy and the hunt for the Wicked Witch: Watch it here
Grab your broomstick and your bestie: Wicked returned to select theaters on Wednesday — and it brought the Wicked: For Good trailer along with it. The first part of the Broadway musical adaptation hit theaters on Nov. 22, 2024, to critical and commercial acclaim. The final half of the two-part film is slated to arrive in theaters almost exactly one year later, on Nov. 21, 2025. The two-and-a-half-minute trailer, which premiered at special one-night screenings in North American theaters on Wednesday night, features Cynthia Erivo as 'Wicked Witch' Elphaba and Ariana Grande as the supposedly 'good' witch Glinda reprising their roles and singing "For Good" as they return to Oz. The trailer also gives fans a first look at Dorothy and the yellow brick road. Wicked: For Good picks up after Elphaba defied gravity on her broomstick and narrowly escaped the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) and Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) in order to save the animals subjugated by their tyrannical rule. Meanwhile, Elphaba's best friend, Glinda — afraid to give up her social status — chose to stay behind rather than join in on her mission. A new poster for the film shows the new looks for the characters in Wicked: For Good. Glinda is sporting a blue dress, while Elphaba is wearing an all-black ensemble — and the hat Glinda gifted her. Wicked: For Good places Glinda and Elphaba on opposite sides of major drama in Oz, with Glinda — who is still dating prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) — acting as the Wizard's spokesperson. Meanwhile, the Wizard's henchmen are seeking to find and kill Elphaba, who all of Oz now considers 'wicked' thanks to good old-fashioned propaganda. How will this story end? Well, if you saw The Wizard of Oz, you probably think you know — with Dorothy and company dousing poor Elphie with water and killing her. Yet Wicked: For Good may surprise you — at least, if you haven't seen the musical.

‘Wicked: For Good': Everything to know about the musical conclusion
The trailer for Wicked: For Good just debuted, offering the first look at footage from the highly anticipated conclusion to the musical adaptation. And there is plenty to discuss. More from GoldDerby Queens vs. schemes: Inside unscripted's Emmy battle royale Jay Duplass on exposing his 'dad bod' and playing a 'soft villain' in 'Dying for Sex': 'Easily one of my biggest acting challenges' 5 slots isn't enough: More limited series deserve a chance to compete with 'Adolescence' With a little under five months to go, the wait for Wicked: For Good may have never seemed less tolerable. So with the hopes of easing those eagerly awaiting the return to Oz, here's everything to know about For Good. The trailer offered the first listens of two songs from the stage musical as sung by stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. "No Good Deed" plays under glimpses at Elphaba's life in exile, while the climatic, heartbreaking "For Good" scores more tender moments between her and Glinda. Composer Stephen Schwartz announced years ago that he was writing two entirely new songs for the film adaptations—one for each of the heroines—both of which will appear in For Good. Erivo has spoken publicly about worked with Schwartz on Elphaba's song, while Grande told Variety about how her new tune fits into the narrative. It's a pivotal moment in Glinda's journey," Grande said. "It shows a side of her we've never seen before. In the stage show, this transformation happens offstage. But in the movie, we get to see her make the decision that defines who she is. It's a privilege to sing this song and be the first Glinda to bring it to life." Other songs featured in the second act of the musical include the tragic "Thank Goodness," "Wonderful," a reprise of "I'm Not That Girl" sung by Glinda, "As Long As You're Mine," and "March of the Witch Hunters." And considering that songs were added by the filmmakers and no numbers were cut from Part One, expect to hear them all. Gold Derby was at CinemaCon back in April when the For Good trailer debuted with Erivo, Grande, and director Jon M. Chu in attendance. Chu set up the stakes of the movie explaining, "Our second movie deals with the consequences of the choices that were made by the characters these wonderful people play." As for the leading ladies, they weighed in on how the second half of the story affects their character. "Glinda has to really look at her reflection and discover what it means to be Glinda the Good," Grande said. "And Elphaba has to determine how to use her powers for the betterment of all of Oz from exile," added Erivo. In a word: good. The movie is still five months away, obviously, so wading too deep into the awards conversation would be beyond premature. However(!), the crafts for which the first Wicked received nominations (and in two cases won) are on display in the For Good trailer and seem easily on par. The movies were filmed simultaneously after all. Wicked earned 10 nominations in total, including Picture, Erivo for Actress, Grande for Supporting Actress, Costume Design, Production Design, Editing, Visual Effects, Sound, Score, and Makeup & Hairstyling. The category to keep perhaps the closest eye on if Team Wicked manages to land the plane on For Good would be Chu getting into Director as a tacit acknowledgment of his work across the two installments. When does come out? You'll be able to see Wicked: For Good when it hits on Nov. 21. Taylor Swift fans sent into meltdown over image of superstar in upcoming Wicked movie
Taylor Swift fans have been sent into meltdown over an image of the superstar in the upcoming Wicked movie - but all is not as it seems. The post, which coincided with the release of the new trailer, showed the Grammy Award winner, 35, dressed as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. 'First look at Dorothy, who will be played by Taylor Swift in WICKED: FOR GOOD,' the X (formerly Twitter) thread began. In it, Taylor boasted the character's classic braids tied with blue bows as well as her signature checkered blue dress. A glimpse of the Emerald City could be spotted in the background - complete with the classic yellow brick road. The image sent shockwaves through Taylor's fandom as one wrote: 'I mean why not? She can do it.' 'OMGG this is why she didn't do the re-recordings of reputation because she's filming Wicked: For Good,' another shared. One comment read: 'OMG, Taylor Swift as Dorothy?! This is HUGE! I'm so excited, I can barely contain myself! That's such a fantastic casting choice.' However, others, who aren't fans of the star, weren't too excited about the 'casting.' 'This has the potential to go really good or really bad...' a user said. 'Damn, I kinda don't wanna watch it now,' someone admitted. Someone else simply wrote: 'Absolutely not.' 'That's it, I'm not gonna watch it,' a user shared. 'Shouldn't it be like… a young girl?' a person questioned. However, after a closer look, the image appeared to be AI-generated image posted by Pop Base parody account, Pob Base. Wicked: For Good is set to hit cinemas on November 21 - about a year after the first movie. This isn't the first time Swifties were fooled by a convincing picture this week. Taylor fans convinced themselves that the pop star was pregnant thanks to an optical illusion. The rumor mill went into overdrive after she stepped out in New York with what appeared to be a pregnant belly on display. 'She's eight months pregnant,' wrote one fan on X, while another posted, 'Taylor appears pregnant in New York!' However, upon closer inspection, it was clear that Swift's black mini-dress had blended into a black car in the background, which made it look like she had a large baby bump.

File Photo by John McCoy/UPI | License Photo June 5 (UPI) -- Universal Pictures is previewing Wicked: For Good, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. The musical fantasy film, which arrives in theaters Nov. 21, is the sequel to Wicked, which opened in 2024. Wicked returned to theaters for a single night to coincide with the release of the trailer Wednesday. The preview shows Glinda (Grande) and Elphaba (Erivo) meeting in secret as Elphaba evades the wizard. "There's no going back. This is between us -- the wizard and I," Elphaba says in the trailer. The trailer also previews such songs as "No Good Deed" and "For Good." "You're the only friend I ever had," Elphaba tells Glinda. "And I've had so many friends," Glinda responds. "But only one that mattered." The Wicked films are inspired by Gregory Maguire's 1995 book and the 2003 Broadway adaptation. The story explores the origins of "The Wicked Witch of the West," and "Glinda the Good" from The Wizard of Oz, inspired by the Frank L. Baum novel.
