This stunning Spelling Bee winner photo sums it all up

The 100th Scripps National Spelling Bee is over, and we have a winner who overcame a rough late-bee error to win it all. Faizan Zaki, a 13-year-old from Allen, Texas, finished as a runner-up last year and was one of the three spellers left on Thursday when he was given "commelina." He immediately started spelling it wrong and told head judge Mary Brooks to ring the bell for an incorrect answer. You can see that moment below, but he got through to spell the final word correct: éclaircissement, which he nailed right away without asking for language origin or to be used in a sentence. BEST SPELLING BEE MOMENTS OF ALL TIME: The result? A win and his reaction was simply the best: You have to love it. He fell right to the ground in pure elation. And why did he spell words quickly? Per the Associated Press: Faizan had a more nuanced explanation: After not preparing for the spell-off last year, he overcorrected, emphasizing speed during his study sessions. Congrats to Faizan, who needed four tries to get the victory. Here he is talking about his preparation, in which he talked to CNN about how he focused on the vocabulary and the spell-off at the end: What a win! And we'll leave it off with the photo of Zaki collapsed on stage, which sums it all up: Awesome. Shaq had an emphatic message ahead of Inside the NBA's swan song

It's certainly hitting home that we're in the final days of Inside the NBA's time on air now. For years, Inside the NBA has been a basketball staple as TNT's pre and postgame show. The broadcast has brought a lot of laughs to fans and to the crew of Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal amidst their hijinks. Advertisement Yet, despite fan's pleas, TNT's Inside the NBA as we all know it is changing once ESPN takes over the reins next basketball season. While it's been confirmed that Inside the NBA is moving over to ESPN along with the crew, the details of what the show will become are still nebulous. As such, fans have been dreading the lead up to the final days of the show because it certainly won't be the same in some way when the dust settles at ESPN. On Thursday, ahead of Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals with the New York Knicks' season on the line, Shaq delivered a quite poignant and emphatic message to his cohosts and the fans watching. Given that the series between the Knicks and Indiana Pacers is nearing its end, TNT is running out of games left to broadcast this season, as the NBA Finals will be covered by ESPN this year. So, to honor that time coming to an end, Shaq's speech absolutely hit the mark for one of the final send offs we'll get for Inside the NBA. It's great to see the Inside the NBA crew in high spirits despite all the uncertainty and instability with this move. Here's to an amazing ride for this show. A bear was apparently spotted on ESPN's Bristol campus

An ESPN radio show shared some absolutely frightening information with its listeners on Thursday: a bear was located on the grounds of the network's Bristol campus. During ESPN Radio's Joe & Q program with Joe Fortenbaugh and Q Myers, Fortenbaugh talked about how a "yellow emergency light" flashing at the network campus eventually sparked the revelation that none other than a bear was present on the facilities. 'There's a bear on the campus here of ESPN,' Fortenbaugh said on the program. 'It is the bear alert. So, everyone on campus stay inside. There's a black bear on the campus at the current moment.' Perhaps that bear was trying to find who to complain to about Around the Horn going off the air? We don't know what happened with this bear exactly, but hopefully he just got some souvenirs, took a selfie with Tony Kornheiser and went back to the forest. Jase Richardson stays in NBA draft, won't be returning to Michigan State basketball

The remote possibility of Jase Richardson returning to Michigan State basketball is now nil. Richardson will remain in the NBA draft pool after the NCAA's deadline to return for the 2025-26 season passed at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, according to Brett Siegel of Richardson entered the draft in early April. Advertisement In his one season with the Spartans, the 19-year-old combo guard averaged 12.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per games over 25.3 minutes. Richardson hit a team-leading 41.2% of his 3-point attempts and shot 49.3% overall. That included averaging 16.1 points and 30.5 minutes in starting MSU's final 15 games of its Big Ten regular-season championship season and run to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. He shot 42% from 3-point range while grabbing 4.6 rebounds and dishing out 1.7 assists per game over that span as the Spartans finished 30-7. Jase Richardson talks to the media during the 2025 NBA Draft Combine at Marriott Marquis Chicago. RELATED: Couch: A look at next season's Michigan State basketball team and the possibilities for each player At the NBA Scouting Combine in Chicago earlier this month, Richardson measured at just 6-feet-1/2 and weighed 178.4 pounds. Both were significantly lower than the 6-3 and 185 pounds he was listed at on MSU's roster for his freshman season. Advertisement Those diminished measurements have dropped Richardson, the son of former MSU star and NBA player Jason Richardson, in a number of mock drafts out of the lottery — he had been projected as a potential top-10 pick before the combine — and toward the back half of the first round for the June 25 draft. ESPN, Yahoo! Sports and dropped him to No. 16 (Orlando) in recent mock drafts, while Sports Illustrated and have him going at No. 20 (Miami). USA Today's For The Win on Thursday listed Richardson at No. 26 to Brooklyn. Contact Chris Solari: csolari@ Follow him @chrissolari.
