Ange Postecoglou makes decision on ex-Celtic keeper Forster
The 37-year-old's contract at the North London club will not be renewed this summer after a player update was recently provided. "We can confirm the departures of Fraser Forster, Sergio Reguilon and Alfie Whiteman following the conclusion of their contracts, while Timo Werner departs following the conclusion of his loan spell from RB Leipzig," a Spurs statement read. Read more: "We thank Fraser, Sergio, Alfie and Timo for their service and wish them well for the future." Forster joined Spurs on a free transfer from Southampton in 2022. He has predominantly been a backup goalkeeper for the side. Ex-Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has kept the Englishman around for his spell in charge up to this point, with Forster picking up a Europa League winners' medal when Spurs beat Manchester United 1-0 in the final last week. He will now move on to pastures new after making 34 appearances in dark blue and white. In other news, Luke McCowan says it was all about giving Jota a hug after discovering his painful injury news. The winger was ruled out for six to nine months after sustaining a knee issue at Tannadice in April. "When Jota was told about the nature of the injury, it was just about giving him a big hug," said McCowan. 'Regardless of how long it is, if it's long, if it's shorter than what it is, you just know he's a very important player for us. "We'll keep ensuring his mental state is always in the right place. "He's a good and big character for us as well. He's a very lively, influential person. "Even in the game when he got his injury, the first question he asked when the boys came in at half-time was, 'It's definitely my goal, isn't it?'. "So I don't think he was that worried about his knee at that point. But he's been a top player for this club and I'm sure he will be in future."

Celtic hero, 37, who won back-to-back POTY awards left unemployed after being released by club
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) HE won seven trophies in Glasgow and played a crucial role in the famous win over Barcelona in 2012. But that heroic performance for Celtic at Parkhead was eclipsed this season as he topped off his latest stint in football with his first European winner's medal. The former Celtic goalkeeper, who enjoyed two spells in Scotland, now has a decision to make on his future in the game after ending his time with Ange Postecoglou's side. Forster made 34 appearances for Spurs in three years after being brought to the club in 2022 as backup keeper. He played 20 times in his first campaign with the club but was handed just one appearance in his second - and his first under Postecoglou. But this season he was brought back into the fold once again after injuries to Guglielmo Vicario left him out of the side. Forster was between the sticks in four Europa League ties and nine domestic fixtures. He even faced his old rivals Rangers at Ibrox in December but failed to keep a clean sheet after Hamza Igamane hit the back of the net to make it 1-0. But Forster had plenty of clean sheets against the Light Blues earlier in his career, having kept them out as many as seven times for Celtic. The towering Englishman is considered by many to be the Hoops' greatest goalie in recent decades. His first spell in Scotland was over a period of four years in which he had back-to-back loan stints before joining on a permanent deal from Newcastle for £2m. Fraser Forster reveals the one piece of rare Celtic memorabilia he will never sell He left for Southampton in 2014 for £10m and returned north of the border on another loan in 2019. During that first spell he earned the nickname La Gran Muralla (The Great Wall) thanks to his heroics in the aforementioned European upset over the Catalan giants. The Hoops narrowly lost at the Nou Camp but at Celtic Park he was the star of the show, repelling the Spanish armada wave after wave of attack. His exploits at one end allowed for Victor Wanyama and Tony Watt to write themselves into the history books at the other end, as Celtic recorded a famous 2-1 win over Lionel Messi and Co. The Argentine superstar would later go on to say of Forster that night: "There was one game in Scotland when he was not human, it was the best goalkeeping performance I have seen." And after the game, Forster made sure it was he who ended up with Messi's shirt. Forster won four league titles, two Scottish Cups and one League Cup during his time in Scotland. He was voted Celtic's Players' Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons - in 2013 and 2014. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Crusaders determined they're not stung by the Hornets
Crusaders, leading the way in League One, will play host to Rochdale Hornets at Colwyn Bay's Stadiwm CSM on Sunday and this will be game nine of North Wales' 18-match campaign. The front-runners go into the match-up on the back of a hard-fought 30-6 success at Keighley Cougars and head coach Forster is geared up for a testing afternoon. He told Cru TV: 'It's going to be a tough one. I think in terms of brand of rugby, I think Rochdale are playing up there with the best. 'They've got some great halves, good full-backs, Martyn (Ridyard), (Gregg) McNally, Lewis Else. 'We're going to have to do our homework. It's going to be a really tough game. 'In the last couple of years, we've really struggled against Rochdale. So, that's something that we want to put right and a bit like this place (Keighley). 'We've not come here for 11 years and come here and won. So, I've just said to the lads that, you know, they're the group of people that's done that and hopefully we go and repeat that against Rochdale.' Crusaders' players may have been guilty of trying to force the issue in their win against Keighley and Forster wants his players to make sure they play in the right areas of the pitch. He stressed: 'I feel like we've got quality players and we've got great strike (players), if we get down in their half, I feel like we need to score points and I think lads get a bit frustrated. 'I keep saying, my message is, just be happy to be playing in those areas of the field, sustain pressure and that's what we did, and the points will follow. 'You've seen (Sam) Wildey on an edge there. I thought Pat Ah Van in the centre... he was a forced decision. 'You know, I'm not going to turn around and say it was a coaching masterclass decision. It wasn't, it was a forced one. 'Pat put his hand up to play centre, we knew Jack (Houghton) would do a great job. I thought Jack was outstanding... and that's kind of solved the problem for us at the minute.' It's turning out to be an intriguing League One campaign and just five points separate the sides in the top seven positions. Rochdale find themselves in fourth spot and they are four points adrift of the pace being set by Crusaders. Just a point behind North Wales in second and third are Workington Town and Midlands Hurricanes. Workington have home advantage versus Dewsbury Rams on Sunday, while Midlands welcome Swinton Lions. The other match-up sees Keighley heading to Newcastle Thunder.

North Wales Crusaders coach makes his case for the defence
Crusaders are sitting pretty at the head of League One ahead of their Sunday showdown at home to Rochdale Hornets. While a tally of 261 points means North Wales are the biggest scorers so far, just as pleasing for head coach Forster is the 92 points conceded, which means his side boasts the best defensive record. Crusaders shut Keighley Cougars out during the second half of last week's 30-6 victory and Forster told Cru TV: 'Apart from the Swinton second half, I think defensively all year we've been pretty outstanding. 'I think we're up there with one of the best defences in the league - I think we are the best defence now. 'It's a trait that we wanted to bring in this year and the lads have bought into how we want to defend and, ultimately, it's those boys on the field doing it. 'They turn up for each other and it's another 40 minutes where we don't concede, and even the six points we did concede was off a play five kick.'
