Neighbours legend's new role with major UK TV star after 31 years as Susan

The prospect of not having Neighbours legend and acting powerhouse Jackie Woodburne on our screens isn't worth thinking about – and thankfully we don't have to as the Susan Kennedy star has landed a new role. In just over a week since Neighbours wrapped production for the second time, Jackie – who has portrayed Ramsay Street royalty Susan for 31 years – has already lined up a new part. The soap titan has joined the cast of Imposter, a new four-part drama set in Australia that will see a family at war over a hotel when mum Helen refuses to sell up, despite her children demanding that she does so. The soapy plot twists and turns follow, with Helen having had a secret daughter named Amanda, who she gave up for adoption decades earlier. When Amanda unexpectedly shows up, Helen is delighted – but this is the just the beginning of what's set to unfold. Consider us intrigued and excited already. Jackie will be starring opposite Coronation Street and Waterloo Road star Kym Marsh, who will play a key role in the Channel 5 drama. Neighbours, which was axed by Channel 5 in 2022, returned to screens in 2013 when Amazon's ad-supported free service Freevee swooped in to rescue it. The daily escapades of Erinsborough residents thrilled fans for another two years before the decision was made by Amazon (in the wake of Freevee's closure) not to renew Neighbours for another season. More Trending Production wrapped on the long-running Aussie soap – a staple of daytime TV in the UK for 40 years – earlier this month, with the final episode slated to drop in December. Discussing her time on the serial, Jackie said: 'It's impossible to measure the gratitude I feel for the gift of 30 years on Neighbours. 'To do so I would have to calculate the number of extraordinary cast and crew I have been privileged to work with, count the number of laughs I have shared with them, measure the pride I feel for the diverse, dramatic (and sometimes outrageous!) storytelling we have all been a part of. TV fans have less than two weeks to binge on 'brilliant' free streamer

A free streaming service hailed as 'brilliant' by users will be shutting down for good in two weeks, but fans can still watch for free on Amazon Prime Video. Freevee is Amazon's free, ad-supported streaming service and gives users access to thousands of movies and TV shows without the need for a subscription. It was launched in 2019 as a FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) service under IMDb, before rebranding as Freevee in April 2022. Amazon first announced its intention to shut down Freevee in November 2024, citing plans to consolidate both its free and paid streaming offerings in one app, Prime Video. Now, Amazon has confirmed when the free streaming service will close for good. An in-app message has appeared, notifying users of the change. It says: 'Prime Video is the new exclusive home for Freevee TV shows, movies and live TV. 'The Freevee app will be accessible until August 2025. Continue watching your favorite free originals and our library of hit movies, shows, and live TV on Prime Video for free, no subscription needed.' This means that while the streaming app is disappearing, the content on it won't be. Instead, fans of Freevee can access the same shows and movies for free, with ads, at their new home on Prime Video. An Amazon representative previously told Variety: 'To deliver a simpler viewing experience for customers, we have decided to phase out Freevee branding. There will be no change to the content available for Prime members, and a vast offering of free streaming content will still be accessible for non-Prime members, including select originals from Amazon MGM Studios, a variety of licensed movies and series, and a broad library of FAST channels — all available on Prime Video.' Freevee's most popular content includes Emmy-nominated reality sitcom Jury Duty, which explored the inner workings of an American jury trial through the eyes of one juror, who doesn't realise that everyone except him is an actor. There's also Australian soap Neighbours and the Alex Rider series, which is a thriller following a teenager who finds out his late uncle was a spy, as well as Judy Justice, starring Judge Judy Sheindlin. Freevee also has Bosch: Legacy, a sequel to Prime Video's Bosch, and plenty of classic shows such as Hell's Kitchen, Mr Bean, Skins and Benidorm. For films, Freevee viewers can watch Me Before You, the 2013 re-imagining of Carrie, The Nice Guys and many more. Online, Freevee users have shared their thoughts on the app's closure, with some disappointed by the change. Reddit user Useuless said: 'This means no dedicated Freevee channel so you can only browse it's content, instead you have to wade through paid for content as well. Essentially it still exists, but now with ads and a more time consuming interface.' philosofova added: 'Will be kinda missed, I mainly liked it for the channel surfing aspect which I missed when I just wanted to watch random stuff.' And tunachilimac wrote: 'I am watching a couple things on Freevee and installed Prime because of this. The Freevee UI is much better than the Prime Video UI. It's weird they aren't keeping the better interface at least.' Others were less bothered, however, with Shap6 writing: 'I was looking through it just the other night out of curiosity, terrible content selection even by free streaming TV standards'. Lithogiraffe added: 'Go ahead. Nearly everything there is also on Tubi free'. Nevertheless, Freevee received hundreds of positive reviews during its time, with fans hailing it as 'brilliant'. On the Amazon website, reviewer Angel Eyes wrote: 'It's brilliant. It allowed me to catch up on all the episodes that I had missed. There's a lot of great content on there and the picture is amazing. The ads are very brief and not at all intrusive.' And John Chewter said: 'I am now hooked and am finding some very good Australian and New Zealand crime drama series I had never heard of and that are very good!' More Trending Another reviewer added: 'Unlike the other free movie channels, this one has only a few short ad breaks and does not bombard you with them. Use it all the time.' To find Freevee's content on Prime Video from next month, users should browse the 'free with ads' section of the Prime Video website and app. Users won't need to sign up or pay a subscription fee to access the content in this selection. Exact day UK Firesticks will lose access to popular free streaming app

This popular app will be shut down for good in a matter of weeks. Amazon's Fire TV Sticks are one of the most popular streaming devices in the UK as they provide access to all of your favourite streaming and catch-up apps without having to fork out a lot of money on a new smart TV. Simply by sticking this handy gadget into your telly, all of your favourite shows and films can be accessed in one place. However, some unfortunate news is looming on the horizon as one popular streaming app will be removed from the device. ‌ Amazon previously gave the warning late last year, but an exact date has now been confirmed for when the app will be shut down for good. Freevee, which is a free-to-view app, will stop working on all UK Fire TV Sticks at the end of August, reports the Mirror. ‌ This means that those who watch content via the app will no longer be able to do so as of September 1, 2025. For those unfamiliar with Freevee, it is an Amazon ad-supported app that offers users a way to stream movies, TV shows and some live broadcasts for free. Some of the shows currently on the app include Alex Rider, Hell's Kitchen USA, Jury Duty and Bosch: Legacy. However, Amazon's popular streaming device isn't the only service being impacted, Freevee will also be shut down on all Android and iOS devices. For those worried about missing out on their favourite shows, Amazon isn't letting them completely disappear. Instead, Fire TV Stick users will be able to find them on the Amazon Prime Video app. ‌ This has been done in a move to simplify the services available and move them into one app. Therefore, users will soon need to sign into their Prime Video account to gain access. These shows will still be available for free, but they will be mixed in with other Prime content that either requires a one off fee to view or a monthly Amazon Prime subscription. ‌ This may be a bid from retail giant Amazon to get more people to join its Prime subscription service, which is currently £8.99 per month. New members can currently get a 30-day free trial, which will also give them access to Amazon Music and next-day delivery on Amazon shopping. In a pop-up message on the Freevee app, customers were told: "Prime Video is the new exclusive home for Freevee TV shows, moves and Live TV. The Freevee app will be accessible until August 2025. ‌ "Continue watching your favourite Freevee Originals and our library of hit movies, shows, and live TV on Prime Video for free, no subscription needed. Download Prime Video to get started and sign in with your Amazon account." As of September 1, Amazon Fire TV Stick users will have no choice but to use the Prime Video app to watch their usual free content. For those who are both a Prime Video subscriber and a Freevee viewer, this will be a welcome change as all of their usual content will be easily accessed in one app. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! 'Iconic' Soap Opera Wraps Filming After 40 years

'Iconic' Soap Opera Wraps Filming After 40 years originally appeared on Parade. After forty years, three cancellations, and more drama than one article could contain, the cast and crew of the Amazon Prime soap opera Neighbours have wrapped production for what appears to be the last time. The final episode, 9,363, is currently scheduled to stream Thursday, December 11. 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 The official Neighbours Instagram account posted a tribute to it's cast and crew saying, 'Today marks the final day of production on our beloved Neighbours. It's with a heavy heart that our incredible cast and crew wrap for the final time. As sad as this day may be, we can't wait for you to see the amazing storylines that are about to unfold over the coming six months. Together we have been, and always will be, the perfect blend 💔' When Amazon originally picked up the soap opera, it was a flagship program for the companies Freevee service. The platform was sunseted late last year with existing programs rolling into the Amazon Prime platform. It was announced earlier this year that Amazon would not be ordering additional episodes of Neighbours. Executive producer Jason Herbison spoke with TVTonight about the final day of filming, sharing, 'We have one crew going today. Neighbours is traditionally shot with two crews and the location crew start the week before studio, so now the final week of the show we just have the studio crew going. The location crew actually finished on Monday. It's a busy day in studio, basically, we're filming all the final scenes in studio and we're wrapping tonight.' The showrunner explained how there was a bittersweet feeling in the air as the series comes to a close, adding, 'There's a wrap party tomorrow night….We're having Christmas in July, as you can see so it's a bittersweet mood.' Herbison acknowledges that this is the end for the series, however, teases that there is hope for the future. 'We're all sad to be seeing the end of the show. But as I said before, you know, very grateful that we've had this this chapter in this time together, and a little bit of hope, who knows, for the future.' The showrunner encourages fans to stay tuned, because while the show may be ending, things are not slowing down on screen until the end, adding, 'We have a big five months of Neighbours still to air. We absolutely are not slowing down story-wise. Lots of big storylines, lots of new characters, lots of big story locomotives still to play out. So whilst it's the final day today on set, for our viewers, there's still five big months of the show to watch.' Neighbours has launched the careers of many future Hollywood stars including, Margot Robbie, Liam Hemsworth, Alan Dale, Chris Hemsworth, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Jessee Spencer, and Kylie Minogue. Fans took to the comment section on the farewell post on Instagram to share their own tributes to the show. One user said, "Since the day it started coming home from school in 1985 was always the highlight of my day I've always been a fan and this breaks my heart… but I wish all the crew and cast the best wishes for future endeavours. We will always be here silently waiting and praying for a come back 🥰." With a second user adding, "Huge love to all cast and crew. The last two years have been a welcome addition to the show and we will miss you all so much. Best of luck for the future." A third shared, "This is just devastating. You've been a part of my life for 40 years, I can't believe we have to say goodbye again. Thank you for everything, for everything you've given us. I'm so grateful we got two more years of our favourite Neighbours. Big hugs to the cast and crew today, best in the business. And big thanks to the social media team, you've given us so much and we're so grateful ❤️💔" Neighbours streams Monday to Thursday on Amazon Prime. UK Fire TV Stick users will be blocked from popular streaming app on this date

A popular Fire TV Stick app is being shut down on this date. Anyone using a Fire TV Stick to get their fix of entertainment will suddenly find they have one less app on their device. Amazon had already issued a warning late last year that confirmed a popular service was going to be shut down for good, and now we know the exact date that the closure will take place. At the end of August, the free-to-view Freevee app will stop working. That means from September 1, 2025, those who currently watch content via this streaming platform will no longer be able to do so. ‌ Along with Fire TV Sticks, it will also shut down on iOS and Android devices. ‌ For those unaware, Freevee is Amazon's ad-supported app that currently offers free streams of movies, TV shows and even some live TV broadcasts. Freevee is currently the home of shows such as Jury Duty, Alex Rider, Bosch: Legacy and Hell's Kitchen USA. So what's happening to these shows in the future? ‌ It appears that everything is moving over to Amazon's Prime Video app instead in a bid to simplify its offerings. Those wanting to watch will need to download Prime Video and log in using their Amazon account. Things will still be free, but users will also see shows and movies that will require a Prime subscription or a one-off fee. This move is possibly aimed at tempting Freevee users into subscribing to Prime Video. 'Prime Video is the new exclusive home for Freevee TV shows, moves and Live TV,' Freevee customers have been told in a pop-up in the Freevee app. 'The Freevee app will be accessible until August 2025. 'Continue watching your favourite Freevee Originals and our library of hit movies, shows, and live TV on Prime Video for free, no subscription needed. Download Prime Video to get started and sign in with your Amazon account.' As of September 1, no one will have the choice. You'll be forced to use the Prime Video app. You may, however, already be a Prime Video subscriber, in which case it could be handier to browse all available Amazon content in one app, instead of also having to surf Freevee as you do at the moment.
