Find out how much you can save versus buying the Ninja version HOT STUFF Lidl's sell-out pizza oven is back in shops this week – it's a dupe for a much more expensive one Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LIDL is bringing back its sell-out pizza oven in shops this coming week. The Grillmeister Gas Pizza Oven costs just £79.99 and it's back in stores next Thursday. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 The Lidl Grillmeister Gas Pizza Oven is much cheaper than the Ninja version Credit: Lidl The gadget is a whopping £170 cheaper than the Ninja version and it's sure to be popular with shoppers once again. You can use the oven to cook your own crispy pizzas or fresh baguettes, and you can eat them straight from the oven. That makes the gadget perfect for garden parties and entertaining. It has a removable pizza stone and a door with latch and viewing window so you can keep an eye on your pizzas while they're cooking. The oven can reach 400C in just 15 minutes. If you're wanting to save space it comes with foldable feet. The oven includes a gas bottle connection hose and pressure reducing valve, and it's suitable for 5 and 11kg gas bottles. It also comes with a three-year warranty. It looks to be a good dupe for the Ninja Artisan Electric Outdoor Pizza Oven & Air Fryer, which is currently £249.99 on the Ninja website. The Ninja version usually sells for an RRP of £299.99. Five Lidl rosés you need this summer, according to a wine expert - a £6.99 buy is as light & crispy as £22 Whispering Angel You should bear in mind that the Lidl version doesn't have an air fryer function, but if you're fine with this then you can make a huge saving. Lidl recently sold another pizza oven for the even cheaper price of £29.99. The Grillmeister Barbecue Pizza Oven can be used on charcoal or gas barbecues. How much are other pizza ovens selling for? It's always worth shopping around and comparing products to make sure you're getting the best deal. Another more affordable option is the Gas Tabletop Pizza Oven with Cover which is currently on clearance at Argos for £54. The portable black steel pizza oven also uses gas and runs on propane. Argos says the oven is "light enough to take on trips" and "fits neatly on a table". If you're looking to splash out more there's the Ooni Koda 12 Gas Fuel Portable Outdoor Pizza Oven. It's currently on offer at John Lewis but it still costs £239.20. Its description says it can cook Neapolitan-style pizzas "in 60 seconds flat". "No assembly, no mess, no fuss, just quick and simple cooking for friends and family gatherings," it says.

Farm day visitors warned over Cryptosporidium parasite threat
Tens of thousands of visitors due to attend a UK-wide open farm day this weekend have been warned about a parasitic infection that causes serious gastrointestinal illness. There were 17 outbreaks of cryptosporidiosis linked to farms in England and Wales in 2024 and an outbreak in south Wales earlier this year has seen dozens of people fall ill. According to inspection reports from the past five years - released to the BBC under the Freedom of Information Act - some farms repeatedly ignored health inspectors' advice and allowed children to handle sick animals in filthy pens. The organisers of Open Farm Sunday, which sees 190,000 visitors, said its farms have high health and safety standards. Cryptosporidium can cause severe stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhoea and is spread through direct contact with animals or touching surfaces that have animal faeces on them. The young, pregnant women and those with health conditions which affect their immune system can be particularly vulnerable. Public Health Wales said individual cases of cryptosporidiosis linked to visits to Cowbridge Farm Shop at Marlborough Grange Farm in Cowbridge, Vale of Glamorgan, this spring had now risen to 89 people. In England, one of those affected after a farm visit was Emily Fryer's six-year-old son Isaac. He was admitted to hospital after falling ill following a visit to Gannow Farm in Worcestershire last year. Mrs Fryer told the BBC: "He didn't eat or drink for about five days. He just slept all the time. His sugars were dangerously low and they admitted him. "Obviously, I was really worried then. Because he is autistic and non-verbal, we didn't really know how we could help him." Mrs Fryer said the family had taken hygiene seriously when they visited the farm and had washed their hands thoroughly using facilities provided on site. A year earlier the farm had been issued with a prohibition notice by the Health and Safety Executive because it was failing to prevent or control the risk of exposure to cryptosporidium. Those issues were dealt with and the farm was licensed to show animals to the public in 2024. Mrs Fryer said she was disappointed that the farm had been allowed to reopen to visitors. "I just think it's awful," she said. The owners of the farm, which has now stopped its open days, declined to comment when approached by the BBC but have previously said they had "made every precaution possible" to prevent an outbreak. Many farms across the UK have had to diversify their businesses over recent years to boost their profitability, with public open days, petting farms and play barns becoming an important source of income. But inspection reports released to the BBC under the Freedom Information Act by the UK's national cryptosporidium reference unit show that a small number of farms are not meeting health and safety standards - and, in extreme cases, are ignoring warnings from inspectors. On one farm in Wales, which was linked to a number of outbreaks, inspectors found sick animals kept on display and a lack of handwashing facilities, risk assessments and staff training. According to reports, the inspectors told the farm those failings were "consistent with those identified previously. This indicates you are failing to maintain the required improvements from one season to the next". Another farm visited in 2023 had also failed to implement recommendations from a previous inspection, which led to another outbreak of cryptosporidiosis, while another farm, due to host a school visit a few days after inspection, was found to be failing. "Comparing current visit to last year found the conditions worse," the report noted. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said the 16 outbreaks in England last year was a provisional figure and data analysis due to be published later in the month may see that rise. Both Public Health Wales and the UKHSA have warned the estimated 190,000 visitors who will be visiting the 250 farms taking part in Open Farm Sunday this weekend to make sure they take basic hygiene measures. Jo Hatton, an education specialist for organisers of the open farm event LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), said all its participating farmers were given advice and training on how best to keep visitors safe. "We are supporting farmers to open their farms and with their risk assessments. We are on the phone with farmers checking in with them throughout the planning process and helping them to understand how to ensure that that visit goes smoothly and everyone goes home happy and healthy," she explained. One farm manager who says he is ensuring the highest health and safety standards for visitors on Sunday is Andy Bason, who will be welcoming around 2,000 visitors onto Newhouse Farm, Alresford, Hampshire. He said LEAF's health and safety training had "really opened my eyes to what's needed to host this kind of event". "With the kind of numbers we see, it is a huge task. We want everyone to come here, have a great day and go home safe without any illness," he explained. The National Farmers' Union (NFU) said that the health and safety of all visitors to farms was "taken extremely seriously". Shoppers rush to get £60 off Ninja air fryer that 'pays for itself'
Shoppers in the market for an air fryer can get one of the best with a hefty discount An air fryer is deemed an essential for homes and kitchens. It's a simple way to cook food faster, easier, and some may even say tastier. There are, of course, a variety of air fryer brands out there, and it can take some time to choose which one is best. Ninja can be quite an expensive option, but its air fryers are widely regarded as some of the best. Plus, while the initial spend may be pricey, shoppers say air fryers save them a lot of money on energy bills as they negate the need to fire up the oven several times a day. Now, shoppers can get the Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Digital Air Fryer for £170.10 down from £220 on Amazon - a whole 26% off. This air fryer is said to save up to 65% on energy bills - testing and calculations were based on recommended cook time for sausages, using air fry function versus conventional ovens - meaning shoppers can save money as they cook. It also comes with two independent cooking zones allowing shoppers to cook two separate foods, in two different ways, that will both be ready at the same time. With six cooking functions - max crisp, air fry, roast, bake, reheat, dehydrate - shoppers can cook a range of foods and take them from frozen to crisp or simply reheat the previous night's leftovers. With health kicks on the rise, this air fryer could be the perfect choice as it uses up to 75% less fat when using the air fry function. Whether it's batch meal prepping or hosting a dinner party, this air fryer has shoppers covered with its extra-large capacity that can cook up to eight portions. Each drawer fits up to 1.4kg fries or 2kg chicken and can also cook up to 75% faster than fan ovens. Along with the air fryer itself comes two non-stick, dishwasher safe 4.75 litre drawers and crisper plates. Elsewhere, shoppers could try the Geepas 9.2L Air Fryer Vortex Rapid Health Cooker Digital Display Kitchen Oven 5-in-1 for £52.58 from Debenhams, which is said to be designed to prepare foods 30% faster and in a healthier way. It also comes with a built-in touchscreen, nine pre-set cooking programs and a 9.2L non-stick basket. For a slightly cheaper Ninja option, shoppers could also try the Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer for £138 directly from Ninja, which has six cooking functions, a 7.6L capacity, two independent cooking zones and can now save up to 75% on oven energy bills. Shoppers have rated the Ninja Foodi MAX a high 4.8 out of 5 star rating from a total of 38,960 reviews on Amazon. One shopper said: 'The best thing about this product is that it pays for itself through energy savings.' Another said: 'This air fryer is very good! I'd heard great things about Ninja products and this one totally lives up to the hype. It's nice to be able to cook two things at once with different settings. It's so convenient, cooks food way faster than my oven.' 'The product arrived promptly and in great condition. I use this every day. It is so easy to navigate and easy to clean. Food comes out tasty, especially the veggies,' said another. Not everyone had five star reviews for the air fryer, however, and one shopper said: 'It's not much bigger than the 300 but has better capacity so useful for larger families, however, the controls are hard to see and use.' However, for a lower price and an all around money saver, the Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Digital Air Fryer sounds like a great choice.
