Juventus 'target Premier League boss' after missing out on Antonio Conte - as Italian giants 'hold talks' with manager's agent

Juventus are reportedly trying to snatch Marco Silva 's from Fulham to be their next manager - despite him insisting he is staying at Craven Cottage. The Bianconeri's sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has reportedly held talks with Silva's agent Jorge Mendes. Juventus are open to replacing Igor Tudor - who they hired as Thiago Motta's successor in March - but have already been snubbed by Antonio Conte and Gian Piero Gasperini. Tudor managed to secure Champions League football for Juve, who have not won the title since 2019-20, but his future seemingly remains up in the air. Italian insider Gianluca Di Marzio says that Juventus have had initial contact with Silva's camp and that their incoming general director Damien Comolli is a 'great admirer'. However, Silva recently said he 'expects' to be at Fulham next season after snubbing Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. The Italian giants have missed out on Antonio Conte and Gian Piero Gasperini Al-Hilal have long tried to attract the Portuguese - Mail Sport reported in 2023 that he had turned down a mega £40million two-year deal with them. However, his future is hotly speculated as his contract expires next summer and he has impressed in a four-year tenure in west London. When he rejected Al-Hilal in 2023, he explained that his desire was to stay in the Premier League as it is the 'best competition in the world'. However, an offer from Juventus, Italy's most decorated club, could be more persuasive. All the same, at least on the surface, he appears committed to the Cottagers. 'I am under contract with the club and of course I've been in planning with the board (for) next season,' he said after the final match of the season, a 2-0 loss to Manchester City. 'Everything on track and the plan is there. We have the next two months to prepare for the season as best we can. 'If I'm under contract with the club and if I'm planning with the club the next season, of course I expect to be here.' Fulham were in with a shout for European football this season but fell by the wayside towards the end of the campaign and finished 11th. After losing four games in the first half of the season, they contrived to lose 10 of their last 19, including five of their last seven.

Man City chief promises ‘swift' transfer deals for Club World Cup

LONDON: Manchester City's Spanish manager Pep Guardiola waves to the crowd after his team's English Premier League match against Fulham at Craven Cottage in London on May 25, 2025. - AFP MANCHESTER: Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak has promised the overhaul of Pep Guardiola's squad will continue at pace in the weeks ahead of the Club World Cup. After an unprecedented four consecutive Premier League titles, City suffered a dismal season by the standards set during Guardiola's reign. They finished a distant third in the Premier League, won just three of 10 games in the Champions League and lost the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace to end without a trophy for the first time since 2016/17. Khaldoon accepted the club were not 'aggressive' enough in the transfer market last year to rejuvenate their squad. City responded in January by signing Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Nico Gonzalez at a combined cost of more than £172 million ($232 million). More arrivals are expected before the start of the Club World Cup on June 14 despite Guardiola's plea to work with a smaller squad next season. 'This January we had to act,' Khaldoon said in his annual end-of-season interview. 'Four players in January (came in), and that gives you an idea of what's coming this summer because we will continue. We have clearly identified who exactly are the targets, in what positions, and we have our clear number one option, our clear number two option. And we'll go about our business and it will be very clear, very swift. And our objective is to try to be ready with the new squad for the Club World Cup.' Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White, Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki and AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders are among those linked with a move to the Etihad. Guardiola extended his contract with the club until 2027 back in November during the worst of City's struggles. Khaldoon is confident the side that has dominated English football over the last decade will quickly be back on top. 'We will be back. This season is a season that's now behind us. Today is a new day. We start working and preparing for next season,' he added. 'I can assure you, this club will do everything possible to come back to the standards that we know we all can achieve and that we know, we will achieve.' — AFP

EXCLUSIVE Andreas Pereira interview: I played under Ferguson, Mourinho and Van Gaal at Man United - but here's why Fulham's Marco Silva is the most prepared manager I've ever seen

The transfer window is about to open again so you will be hearing Andreas Pereira's name a lot in the next few months. It's common for a player who has been in demand from elsewhere so often during his time in the Premier League. Last winter, Brazilian giants Palmeiras made an approach, but he's having too much fun at Fulham.

Manchester City's Khaldoon Al Mubarak reviews season, trusts Guardiola, prides on De Bruyne

29 May 2025 23:01 KUUMAR SHYAM (ABU DHABI)Manchester City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has expressed confidence and optimism about the future of the club despite a season that fell short of their recent high standards. In his annual end-of-season interview, Al Mubarak acknowledged the disappointment of not defending the Premier League title and a poor showing in the UEFA Champions League, but emphasised the club's commitment to learn, adapt, and come back stronger.'This season is a season that's now behind us,' said Al Mubarak. 'And we will take all the good things and the not so good things from this season and learn from them and improve them and get better.'This season's campaign marked a rare dip in what has otherwise been an era of dominance for City under manager Pep Guardiola. The team, which had captured a historic treble the previous season, finished third in the league and failed to reach the last-16 of the Champions League. Still, Al Mubarak maintained a firm belief that the club remains on the right track and will quickly rebound. 'I can assure you, this club will do everything possible to come back to the standards that we know we all can achieve and that we know we will achieve,' he stated. 'If there's one thing I'd like right now, it's to turn that page from last season and just immediately start focusing on next season.'The chairman spoke of a squad still hungry for success. He described the atmosphere following the final league game against Fulham as one filled with determination and eagerness to return to form. 'Nobody feels good about how we finished the season. They want to come back and they want to come back hungry. And I can see the hunger.'That sentiment extends beyond the players. Al Mubarak revealed that the club's leadership wasted no time in preparing for the upcoming season, even beginning discussions about transfers the day after the season ended. The interview was filmed the next day on Monday. The chairman said the club is starting by targeting the special transfer window opening by FIFA for teams participating in an extended 48-team Club World Cup. 'We finished yesterday evening, our last game. And today, we're working. Nobody's going on vacation yet,' he transfer plans are already in motion with clear targets identified. 'We have our clear number one option, our clear number two option,' he said. 'And we'll go about our business, and it will be very clear, very swift.' The goal is to ensure the team is ready for the Club World Cup, to be held next month in the United Mubarak also reflected on the two pillars of the club: Kevin De Bruyne and Pep Guardiola. He hailed De Bruyne as the greatest player in City's history, lauding his impact on and off the pitch. 'Kevin really transcends this team and I'm so proud of what he has accomplished,' he said. 'It's one of the best decisions we ever took – the day we brought him from Wolfsburg.'Regarding Guardiola, the chairman emphasised the trust that underpins their long-standing partnership. 'One thing we have with Pep, which is so fundamental, is one word: trust,' Al Mubarak said. 'And that trust is what, in the good times, allows you to keep winning. And in the tough times, that's where that trust really shows up.' Despite a season that didn't deliver silverware with City even losing out on the FA Cup title to Crystal Palace, Al Mubarak's message was clear: Setbacks are temporary and the foundation remains strong. 'We're going to come back strong, with a lot of positivity,' he concluded, embodying a resilient spirit that has come to define Manchester City under his leadership.
